1. Updating a Single appliance
NoteThe steps in this section apply to sotware updates perormed on a single appliance. I you are connected to a 3VR
Enterprise Appliance and wish to update multiple appliances or the ull Enterprise, please reer to section 2 o this chapter.
Step 1. Send Update Package
1. In System Manager, clickMaintenance to go to the
Maintenance panel.
2. Click the Update Software
tab.
3. Check the box next to the
name o the appliance to
select it.
4. Click Inspect. Check the
Status column to veriy
that the system is in a ready
state:
OKis displayed i
the system is operating
normally and ready
to be upgraded.
Unauthorized will be
displayed i the current
user is not authorized
to upgrade sotware on
the selected server.
Unreachable
will be displayed i the system is not in a state where it can be upgraded.
5. Click SendUpdate.
6. In the Choose 3VR Update File window, locate the sotware update fle, named
Appliance-VIMS-7.0.X.XXXXX-en-us.3pa(where the Xs represent the sotware version
and build number):
I you are connected to the VIP Appliance with a laptop or over the network,
navigate to the drive on your computer where you have saved the unzipped
3VR download package. Browse to the update fle and click to select it.
I you are connected to the VIP Appliance with a monitor, mouse, and keyboard,
browse to the USB drive or CD containing the update fle and click to select the fle.
7. Click OK. System Manager will transer the selected update fle to the appliance. The
Status column will show the status o the transer as it progresses.
8. When the transer is
complete, the Status column
or the appliance will show
Ready to Update with the
name o the update fle.

Step 2. Update Appliance
1. Click Update.
The Status column will
show the status o the up-
date as it progresses.
2. When the update is
complete, the Messages
panel will show the
appliances name and IP
address ollowed by Done.
Step 3. Update Client Applications
Ater the appliance has been updated, users must update 3VR OpCenter, 3VR System Manager, and any other 3VR applications
installed on their PCs using the 3VR Client Applications installation package that matches the new version. See the document
Installing and Upgrading 3VR Client Applicationsor instructions.

2. Updating an enterpriSe - live Update
Use the ollowing procedure to upgrade the sotware on all appliances on a 3VR Enterprise. You should use these steps i you wish
to upgrade the Enterprise immediately. Please note that appliances will not be accessible to remote users and will not record video
while they are being updated. I you wish to schedule an update instead, see section 3 o this chapter.
Step 1. Update Enterprise Appliance
The frst step in the upgrade
process is to update the
Enterprise appliance.
1. In System Manager, click
Maintenance to go to the
Maintenance panel.
2. Click the Update Software
tab.
3. Check the box next to the
Enterprise Appliance. The
Enterprise Appliance is
indicated by an icon with
three green cubes:
4. Click Inspect. Check the
Status column to veriy
that the system is in a ready
state:

8. When the update is complete, the Status column will say Done next to the Enterprise
Appliance.
9. Close System Manager.
Step 2. Update Your Client Applications
Ater the Enterprise Appliance has been updated, you must update 3VR System Manager and any other 3VR applications installed on
your PC using the 3VR Client Applications installation package which matches the new version o the 3VR Enterprise Appliance. See
the document Installing and Upgrading 3VR Client Applicationsor instructions.
Note: I you are connected to the Enterprise with a monitor, mouse, and keyboard, you may disregard this step.

Step 3. Send Update Package to VIP Appliances
Ater updating the client applications on your PC, the next step is to transer the update package to all o the VIP Appliances on the
Enterprise.
1. Launch System Manager.
2. Click Maintenance to go to the Maintenance panel.
3. Click the Update Software
tab.
4. Click Clear All to deselect the
VIP Enterprise Appliance.
5. Click Select All to select
all appliances except the
Enterprise.
6. Click Inspect. Check the
Status column to veriy that
the appliances are in a ready
state:

Step 4. Update VIP Appliances
1. Click Update. The update will immediately begin processing on all appliances.

3. Updating an enterpriSe - SchedUled Update
During a sotware update, a 3VR appliance will not be recording video and cannot be accessed by remote users. Consequently, you
may wish to perorm a sotware update outside o normal business hours to minimize disruption to end users. The 3VR Enterprise
Appliance eatures the ability to schedule updates at a designated date and time.
Use the ollowing steps to schedule a sotware update on an Enterprise:
Step 1. Schedule Enterprise Update
1. In System Manager, click
Maintenance to go to the
Maintenance panel.
2. Click the Update Software
tab.
3. Check the box next to the
Enterprise Appliance. The
Enterprise Appliance is
indicated by an icon with
three green cubes:
4. Click ScheduleUpdate.
5. In the Schedule Update
window, select the update
package to use or the
update rom the Package
dropdown menu.
I the update package is
not listed, click Add
Package and select the update fle. See section 5 o thischapter or more inormation on managing update
packages.
6. Speciy the date and time the Enterprise update should
occur.
7. Click Schedule Update.

8. System Manager will launch the Scheduled Updates dialog, showing that there is a pending update.
9. Click Close to return to the Update Software tab.
Step 2. Schedule Appliance Update
1. Click Clear All to deselect the
VIP Enterprise Appliance.
2. Click Select All to select
all appliances except the
Enterprise.
3. Click ScheduleUpdate.
4. In the Schedule Update
window, select the update
package to use or the update
rom the Package dropdown
menu.
I the update
package is not listed, click Add Package and select
the update fle. See section 5 o this chapter or
more inormation on managing update packages.
5. Speciy the date and time or the update. The appliance
update should be scheduled for 10 minutes after theEnterprise update. For example, i the Enterprise update
is scheduled or 9:00 PM, the appliance update should be
scheduled or 9:10 PM (or later).
6. Click Schedule Update.

7. System Manager will launch the Scheduled Updates dialog, showing that there are now two pending updates, one or the
Enterprise and one or its appliances.
8. Click Close to return to the Update Software tab.
Step 3. Update Client Applications
Ater the scheduled updates have taken place, users who connect to the Enterprise must update 3VR OpCenter, 3VR System
Manager, and any other 3VR applications installed on their PCs using the 3VR Client Applications installation package that matches
the new version. See the document Installing and Upgrading 3VR Client Applicationsor instructions.

4. Updating an enterpriSe - Managing SchedUled UpdateS
Use the ollowing steps to view pending and past scheduled updates:
1. In System Manager, click
Maintenance to go to the
Maintenance panel.
2. Click the Update Software
tab.
3. Click View Scheduled
Updates.
4. To view inormation about
an update, select it rom the
list.
Details about the updatewill appear in the Messages
panel o the Scheduled
Updates dialog.
5. To cancel a pending update, select it rom the list.
6. Click Stop/Cancel.
7. In the dialog that pops up, click Yes to confrm that you wishto cancel the scheduled update.
8. Click Close to close the Scheduled Updates dialog and
return to the Update Software tab.

5. Updating an enterpriSe - Managing Update packageS
Use the ollowing steps to add or remove sotware update packages stored on a 3VR VIP Enterprise Appliance:
1. In System Manager, click
Maintenance to go to the
Maintenance panel.
2. Click the Update Software
tab.
3. Click Manage Update
Packages.
To add a new update package:
1. Click Upload.
2. In the Choose 3VR Update File window, locate the sotware
update fle, named
Appliance-VIMS-7.0.X.XXXXX-en-us.3pa(where the Xs
represent the sotware version and build number).

To delete an update package:
1. Select the package to delete.
2. Click Remove.
3. In the dialog that pops up, click Yes to confrm that you wish
to delete the selected update package.
WarningDeleting an update package will also cancel any
pending updates associated with the package.

6. Updating plUg-inS
Use the ollowing steps to update a plug-in to a new version:
1. Launch 3VR System Manager.
2. In the Configure tab, click the plug sign next to the system
name to expand the list o confguration options.
3. Click the plus sign next to Plugins to display the list o plug-inson the system.
4. Right-click the plug-in and select Update [Plug-in Name].
5. In the dialog that appears, click Update to acknowledge that
you must restart the system sotware ater upgrading the
plug-in.
6. In the Choose 3VR Plug-in File window, select the plug-in update fle (extension
.3pg).
7. Click OK.
8. To complete the update, right-click the system name and select
Restart 3VR Software rom the menu.
9. In the Confirm dialog box, click Restart to initiate the sotware
restart.
10. Wait 1-2 minutes or the sotware to ully restart beore
proceeding.
