Featuring the theme ‘Redesigning Business Processes for
Competitive Advantage’, the Conclave 2013 focused on the
following primary objectives:
Capture and disseminate understanding of the various
dimensions of Business Processes Management (BPM) in
the Global India, and
Spread its adoption by fully leveraging the best practices
from global shared services and off shoring operations.
The Conclave while adapting to Indian context brought a holis-
tic focus on BPM with Three Streams:

The Conclave was well attended by around 100 delegates and

Dr. Nalin Shinghal unveiled the first ever BPM Publication for India at the Con-clave. 1st four copies of the publication were presented by him to eminent leaders at the conclave.
RvaluE, in partnership with Delhi Management Association (DMA), designed the publication to become a valuable guidance document for organizations to
absorb best practices adopted by various companies in respect of BPM and spread knowledge and
step up momentum in India around Business Process Management
to drive their own strategic goals for redesigning business processes and achieve competitive advantage!

The publication captures the insights and perspectives of the industry, both global and domestic, about their journey, challenges and bene-fits, and covers services sector / staff functions and their inter linkages, to provide directional inputs and draw inferences for effective adop-tion of BPM by Companies in India.
The BPM questionnaire with Topics were sent to ET 500 companies—both private sector and public sector—and Global corporations, with target audience focused on CXOs, Business Leaders, Practitioners, Heads of Shared Services Centers and BPO Majors.

Mr Rakesh Sinha, the co– author of the BPM Publication, shared the Executive Summary of the publication:
1. Global India: With India becoming a global hub for off shoring processes from companies across the globe, the focus on Busi-ness Process Management (BPM) has become intense and its value story has also become evident.
2. Defining BPM: BPM is classified into 3 dimensions: Business
Process Consolidation (BPC), Business Process Transformation (BPT) and Business Process Management Systems (BPMS).
3. BP to BP: Business Process to Business Performance. Process, to
be effective, needs to directly lead to Performance. Primary BPM outcomes can be classified as Competitive Advantage, Cost Effectiveness, Customer Experience, Operational Excellence, Control & Compliance and Leadership Excellence.
4. Strategic Execution: Of the two main streams of BPM—BPC and
BPT, BPC offers the best starting point for BPM! Deciding on operating model is essential in the strategic execution. The over arching requirement is Assessment Readiness, which includes areas like organization redesign, training and engagement of people / customers as a part of Change Management and Or-ganization Alignment initiatives.
5. Leadership Skills & Business Capabilities: Six focus areas of
Leadership are Personal Excellence, Driving Extraordinary Per-formance, Coaching & Developing leaders, Accepting & Enabling Change, Building Relationship and Enhancing Business Acumen.
6. Emerging Focus: BPM is irreversible and here to stay! Some of
the key identified areas that will drive the future of BPM in Global India are—Strong Support systems that focus on BPMS and quality, Increase width and depth in processes, Virtualiza-tion, Huge Potential of Public Sector and Aggregation of Ser-vices for the SME Sector and Skill intensification.

Panel Session IV BP to BP: Business Process to Business Performance
The fourth Panel session was completely focused on business value realization i.e. BP to BP: Business Process to Business Performance - BPOs as full-service value provider, expanding from domestic to global shared service operations, emerging BPMS trends and ERP Implemen-tation at ONGC. The story of Project ICE, ONGC was rell appreciated by all delegates at the conclave as it demonstrated how ERP implemen-tation became holistic BPM Initiative and thereby, a landmark in the history of Public Sector process redesigning and automation.
