    TEST SCENARIOS

PTN networks Transmission testing for 3G should be focused more

on the Configuration and the Protection Shifting than other features of

PTN. The test scenarios will be:

PTN network should be configured as Double Return; LSP 1+1should be configured to protect the service circuits.

Two Access layer Rings should be connected to avoid Dual-Cut.

The LAG mode should be applied in the circuit between PTN upstream

    node and RNC.

    Only use CIR, not PIR.

Tests must be conducted to verify all the above configurations.

PARAMETERS AND PROCEDURES TO BE TESTED

Parameters and Procedures to be tested and verified are as

    follows:

QoS Configuration of different 3G service dataflow including

    Voice, Data, Network Management.

    Maximum achievable rate.

The success of Dual-Cut Protection and the time Delay and

success of the recovery when Breakdown is eliminated.

Priority level of the service should be configured in the QoS

and Network Management data should have the high-

    priority.

HOP BY HOP TESTING OF TRANSMISSION MEDIA

General Scenario: Below diagram describes the scenario where a handset user accesses

the FTP server for 3G throughput testing. In this scenario, despite the

node B capacity is 21 Mbps and transmission media has no speed limit

applied to it, data rate recorded by 3G user is not going beyond 13Mbps. This may be because of limitation and dependency over air

    interface.

HOP BY HOP TESTING OF TRANSMISSION MEDIA

Test case 1: Check the end to end TXN media for one site. Connect FTP server to

the Core PTN node where RNC is connected and FTP client to the

microwave node where the testing site is connected. Multiple file

downloads from FTP server will utilize the available bandwidth almost100%. It will give the end to end picture of any issue within TXN

network. In case, this test fails, proceed to test case 2.

HOP BY HOP TESTING OF TRANSMISSION MEDIA

Test case 2: Test the throughput by connecting the FTP server to core PTN node and

client to access PTN node thus testing the Pseudowire limitations i.e.

bandwidth assigned to it. In case, there is no issue, well move to test

    case 3.

HOP BY HOP TESTING OF TRANSMISSION MEDIA

Test case 3 Test the microwave throughput by connecting the FTP server to the 1st

hop Microwave link and client to the last mile Microwave link. If no issue

is found out here, test case 1 will be repeated.

    SITES FOR TRIAL

For HSPA and HSPA+ testing recommended sites from transmission MW end are:

    1) 4130

    2) 2) 5547

    and

    1) 3) 5557.
