ABC Tournament The ABC Golf Tournament held on Sunday, Feb.
24th was a huge success. Proceeds from the
tournament, along with cash donations totaled
$1,620.00. This is only possible every year because
of “you”, the Southport Springs residents. Thank you
for your support. Bett Stiefel
All residents are welcome to join us for a Pot Luck
supper on Saturday, April 20th at 5:30pm in the
clubhouse ballroom. Just make a dish that will serve
10 to 12 people. Please see the sign up sheet in the
clubhouse as you decide what to make. Remember to
bring your place settings. We will provide the coffee,
tea, ice tea and lemonade. Come join your friends
and neighbors as we get together for a fun meal.
After the dinner and before having dessert, we will
have a “cakewalk”, where you will have a chance to
win a delicious home baked dessert. We are asking
for a $1.00 donation to participate in the “cakewalk.”
If you have any questions, please call Winnie
Quartucci at 783-7109 or Patti Rich at 780-1982.
Sponsored by the Social Committee of your HOA.
Potluck
My name is Will Ruiz. My Job is to buy gold for a
REFINERY. I am the one the Pawns Shops, Jewelry
Stores and Gold Places will sell it to. If you are one
of the persons waiting to get the highest payout this
is it. This is a good moment to do it.
On April 18th from 9am-7pm in the puzzle room at
the Little Club, we will be having an exclusive Gold
Party for your community where we will be buying
all of the precious goods you don’t want or just want
to cash out. We will do it privately. Refer to the
inserted ad for more info. We can go by appointment
if preferred but is not necessary. Walk-ins are
welcome. Contact the Management office for an
appointment.
Gold Buying Party
Joey Royal Sock Hop Relive the fabulous 50’s Era for one

dancing never stops as Joey Royal

fabulous 50’s.. So get ready to do the Limbo Rock,
the locomotion, the twist and much more. He will be
here on April 27th from 7pm-10pm. The tickets are
on sale in the community office for $5.00 per person.
Reserved seating.
Got Blood! Accidents and medical emergencies don’t take
holidays—we need blood every minute, every day of
the year. Donate. It’s a bloody good job. April 17th
from 9am-12pm.

Lighthouse Crafters Our next meeting will be held in the clubhouse
ballroom on April 3rd at 11:00 am. I encourage all
crafters to attend. If you have any questions or
concerns, please bring them with you written on
paper. Smile, It removes wrinkles. Coordinator,
Linda Pleleps
We all wish to extend our
congratulations to Jerry Hiland and
Barb Perez, the 2013 Southport
Springs club champions; congrats
also to the winners of the other
divisions. Ron Green and Barb
Holdridge deserve a big thank you for
their hard work in putting the tournament together.
Congratulations also go out to Dave Lambert for
another hole-in-one on #8!
Beginning March 23, the summer hours for the Pro
Shop will be 6:30 am until 6:00 pm. In the past, the
course was closed on Monday afternoons for spraying
and clean-up; this summer, the course will remain
open on Mondays, except under special circumstances.
With our winter season coming to an end, more tee
times will be available. Please be sure to call head to
reserve yours. Those people running summer leagues
need to check with Gary or Bill to confirm your
summer starting times.
As summer approaches, more work is scheduled to be
done on the course. The maintenance crew has been
doing a great job removing leaves, especially between
#4 and #5. A new fence around the pump house should
be completed soon. They will be working to complete
the trenching to prevent flooding and to improve our
greens. Let's hope for a lot of summer showers to
make up for the water limitations implemented by
SwiftMud.
And regarding water use, a problem had come up with
residents, even non-golfers, coming to the Pro Shop to
wash their carts and batteries (even on weekends when
the pro shop was closed and the water was shut off)!
As a result, the water next to the Pro Shop is now
locked and for use by the Pro Shop only. All other
carts can be washed at the owners' homes. And, once
again, we wish a safe and healthy summer to all our
residents heading north.
At the last board meeting it was
decided to discontinue the open
town hall. There had been several
concerns regarding the fact there
was no reason to belong to the
HOA if you could attend and
participate in the open meetings. There were two
open meetings with a good attendance of residents
and now we hope those attending and participating
will now join.
The board meets the first Tuesday of the month in
the little clubhouse for a planning meeting and the
second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM in the
ballroom for our regular board meeting with a town
hall meeting for HOA members only to follow.
We want to welcome Bob Schutt as our website
coordinator. His email address is on the HOA
website, so if you have any comments for him just
drop him a line. The minutes of our board meetings
a r e p o s t e d o n t h e w e b s i t e
( southportspringshoa.com ) as well as the Villager
and other articles of interest to manufactured home
owners. The HOA board is looking for ideas for our
quarterly meeting with the park management and
owners, so if you have any idea regarding park
improvement needs or concerns just drop a note in
the suggestion box in the ballroom. We check the
box frequently and would like the comments to use
in any of our upcoming owner meetings.
Dick Knoles, HOA President
Women’s Club Southport Women’s Club is sponsoring a Country Western Show and Dance featuring Johnny Ellis on
Sunday, April 14th from 6pm to 9pm to benefit local food banks. Donation is $5. Come to the Sandtap
for chuck wagon grub from 4pm to 6pm. A big hand to all the Southport residents who donated or
purchased at our garage sale. A total of $900 was donated to the Zephyrhills Pregnancy Care Center.
Thank You Once again, the Sunshine Committee and residents
of Southport Springs, have shown their love and
concern for their neighbors. Thanks so very much for
the beautiful basket I received after my knee surgery
and the many cards and calls. Ginny Morris
I want to thank the Sunshine Committee for the gift
and card when I was sick. I also want to thank my
friends and neighbors. God Bless all of you, Raelene
& Jim Sanderson
I would like to thank the Sunshine Committee and
our friends and neighbors for the beautiful fruit
basket. I also want to thank then for all their prayers.
It means so much to me and my wife Lois. Thank
you Ed Zender
Many, many thanks are sent to dear friends,
neighbors, and the Sunshine Committee. Through
long days in rehab, hospitals, and recovery at home
you supported and encouraged me with calls, cards,
visits, food and beautiful gifts. I was overwhelmed
by the spirit of “Do Unto Others”. Blessings abound
for all of us who appreciate living among good folks
like you. Again, Thank you. Gloria Tuttle
Southport Springs Book Club Managers Notes
Our Northern Residents: We know its time to
say goodbye to a lot of our northern residents.
Stop by the office to sign out for the season.
Jessica has a clip board on her desk all ready for
you to sign out. If you want the Villager mailed
to you please provide her with self addressed
stamped envelopes and she will make sure you
get them as soon as they come out. Have a great
summer and we will see you in the fall.
Lift Stations: If you hear the alarm please call
the office so we can send someone out to fix it.
Please Do Not flush foreign objects down your
toilets, this clogs the pumps at the lift station.
Please dispose of objects properly. This will be
greatly appreciated.
Speed Limit: Just a reminder our Speed Limit is
15 MPH, There are still too many people
speeding in our community. Our roads are very
busy this time of the year with the golf carts,
walkers and bike riders. PLEASE SLOW
DOWN.
Pressure Washing Homes: This the time of
year we need to walk around our homes and
make sure they are clean, especially the north
side of your home. I have seen a lot that are in
need of pressure washing. If you have an
appointment, please call the community office
and let us know. If we see a note on your file we
will not send out letters. Thank you.
Outside Vendors: We have had a few
companies that have came into our community
to do work for residents who are not completely
honest with us. There have been a few instances
where an A/C company has came in and told the
resident they need a new unit when in fact there
is nothing wrong with the one they have. Just a
good piece of advice,. If someone tells you they
have to replace an item, please call and get a
second or even a third opinion. It doesn’t cost
anything to get an estimate and it could save you
thousands in the long run.
