Dade City Police 911 consolidates with Pasco
County The Dade City Police 911 Center will consolidate with Pasco County Public Safety Communications (PSC) on October 5, 2015. This consolidation of services has been studied for the past two years. The goal of the consolida-tion is to provide a more efficient service to citizens while also providing increased officer safety through infor-mation sharing capabilities and operations on common radio channels with the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
“From the time of our original conversations regarding consolidation over two years ago, we have believed that the effectiveness of our police and communications oper-ations would be improved dramatically through this part-nership,” said Dade City Police Chief Ray Velboom. “Today, we are even more confident that the County’s efforts to professionalize and enhance the communica-tions capabilities, along with the subsequent sharing of information resources by the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, will surely be assets in strengthening public safety and ser-vice delivery in Dade City for many years to come.”
Over the past several weeks, Dade City Police Officers have been training on new systems that will provide en-hanced abilities to manage calls in progress as well as increase the ability to partner with the Pasco Sheriff’s Office to provide a more effective response focused on citizen service and officer safety emergency events in and around Dade City.
“Citizens of Dade City can be assured that 9-1-1 calls for service will continue to be processed by a professional call-taker,” said Randy TeBeest, Assistant County Ad-ministrator for Public Safety and Administration. “Dade City Police units will be dispatched in an appropriate and timely manner. We value the trust the Dade City citizens and their Police Department have in our consolidated call center and we will work closely together to build on that trust.”
Pasco County Public Safety Communications looks for-ward to serving the Citizens of Dade City as well as the Dade City Police Department.

Bayfront Health Dade City Extends Mammogram Hours
Mammograms are one of the most effective ways to detect breast cancer early, and be-ginning this month, Bayfront Health Dade City is extending its service hours in hopes of reaching more women and ultimately saving more lives.
Beginning October 1st mammogram ap-pointments will be available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:30am – 4pm; Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30am– 5pm.
“National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is the perfect time to kick off our extended hours for mammograms,” says Shauna McKinnon, CEO of Bayfront Health Dade City. “Our digital imaging technology im-proves accuracy and image quality and pro-vides less radiation exposure.”
American Cancer Society estimates that there will be 231,840 new cases of breast cancer in women this year. Early detection tests, such as mammograms, improve the chances that breast cancer can be diag-nosed at an early stage and treated success-fully.

Restored Hope is very grateful to all the surrounding communi-ties and the partnerships we have formed since opening our doors in November of 2013. Without the help and support from all of you, we could not serve those in need as we do. We have so many families, seniors and individuals that need a hand up to get back on their feet or just plain survive from month to month on limited incomes. The center serves Dade City, Zephyrhills and the surrounding East Pasco areas. We are located at 13703 17th St in Dade City. Restored Hope is a resource and outreach center to help the homeless, those on the verge of homelessness and those in need in our area. We help with what’s called safety net services to try and stabilize clients. We assist with water bills and deposits, limited rent assistance, help homeless families living on the street or in their cars get shelter, give away emergency food for the homeless, laundry facility for the homeless, clothing for work and job interviews, hygiene products, spending classes to empower clients, assistance with ACCESS for food stamp appli-cations and much more. In December, we’ll have an ESG grant that will assist low income families in Dade City with rapid re-housing or homeless prevention. A Special thanks to:
Metropolitan Ministries for helping get RH started with giv-ing us best practices, in-services and support as needed.
San Antonio Citizens Federal Credit Union for teaching our spending classes. Thank you Dawn and Becca!
The Rainbow Motel for helping to provide emergency shel-ter for our homeless families and veterans.
The First National Bank of Pasco for collecting lots of box-es of hygiene products from their staff and customers for our families in need.
The Dollar Store on 301 in Dade City for setting up a col-lection basket in the store for hygiene items.
Murrell Pest Control for donating their pest service for the center.
Absolute Commercial Cleaning Service, David and Bonnie Krummen for donating the cleaning service for the cen-ter.
All the other agencies we work with and refer to, St Rita’s SVDP, The Samaritan project in ZH, The Salvation Army in DC, Premier Health, and many more.
The Dade City, Zephyrhills and Pasco County water depart-ments that work with us to assist our clients.
We are truly grateful to everyone and pray we continue to make a difference in the lives of families and individuals in Dade City, Zephyrhills, and the surrounding East Pasco areas.

Carlisle Events is preparing to host Fall Florida AutoFest, No-vember 12-15. This event already hosts a bevy of auto-motive and aeronautical excite-ment and now, Carlisle Events is pleased to announce a two-day appearance by the legendary Burt Reynolds.
Still a working actor at the age of 79, Reynolds has a number of movies due to be released in the next year. He continues to pursue his love of teaching at The Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre. Recently, Reynolds was awarded both the Georgia Film Legend Award and the Film Florida Legends Tourism Am-bassador Award. In September he became the only actor to be inducted into the Stuntman Hall of Fame. Reynolds is actively involved in charity work including a partnership with the Dream Car Giveaway group. His association with the Dream Car team is partially what brings him to Fall AutoFest. He would love to see one of his fans win the beautifully restored and autographed 1979 Trans Am being offered through the Bandit Dream Giveaway Sweepstakes, proceeds from which will benefit a number of worthwhile charities as well as the building fund of the Burt Reynolds Institute.
Supervisor of Elections Warns Pasco Voters of Misleading Information From the Voter Participa-
tion Center
Pasco County FL - Brian E. Corley, Supervisor of Elections, reports his
offices have fielded questions from confused voters who are receiving
voter registration applications from the Voter Participation Center (VPC).
Voters mistakenly believe the mailing is coming from the Pasco Supervi-sor of Elections' Office.
"The majority of the phone calls we are receiving are from already regis-
tered voters who are questioning what has happened to their voter reg-
istration, or they are questioning why they have received pre-filled appli-cations in the names of their adult children, underage children, and re-
cently, a deceased child," said Supervisor Corley. "This is very confusing
to them, and rightly so. It is creating suspicion, mistrust, and increased
anger about how public and readily available their private information is."
Voters who receive this mailing can check their voter registration status
at the Division of Elections website using this link: http://dos.myflorida.com/elections/for-voters/check-your-voter-status-and-
polling-place/ or call the Pasco County Supervisor of Elections' office at
800-851-8754.
"I am encouraging any voter who receives this notice to check their voter
registration status before pushing the panic button," said Supervisor
Corley. "For those who receive applications for other family members
who are underage or don't even reside in this state, I am advising them to shred and discard the forms. We have dealt with this organization in the
past, and sadly, they continue to cause unnecessary confusion for the
voters."
The Voter Participation Center in 2008 and 2012 launched voter registra-tion campaigns using erroneous consumer data lists that were outdated.
In 2014 their campaign focused on vote-by-mail ballot requests which
created confusion for voters who had already requested and sent in their
vote-by-mail ballot. Misleading campaigns such as this further erode the
confidence of voters and unnecessarily place a burden on the elections' office staff which is actively preparing for the upcoming election cycle.
For the most accurate information regarding voter registration and vot-
ing by mail, voters should contact the Supervisor of Elections' Office by
calling 800-851-8754 or refer to pascovotes.com.

PASCO SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWSLETTER
October 2015
We always talk about how important the relationship is between citizens and law enforcement. That isn’t just lip-service, it’s something we truly believe in here at the Pasco Sheriff’s Office. That partnership is fostered in our volun-teer units. We’ve decided to bolster our ranks of volunteers with the formation of three additional units: The Volunteer Corps Marine Crime Watch Unit, the Volunteer Agriculture Response Team, and the Forensics Services Volunteer Team.
The Volunteer Corps Marine Crime Watch Unit will patrol the waters of Pasco County, providing additional eyes and ears to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office. It will function much like a Neighborhood Watch program where citizen volunteers, using their own vessels, patrol waterfront communities and other waterways. If those volunteers see something suspi-cious, they will then report it to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office.
The Volunteer Agriculture Response Team will be mobilized across the county during times of natural disasters and critical incidents affecting the local agricultural community. This unit will assist the Pasco Sheriff’s Office Agriculture Unit in tasks that include emergency fence mending, corralling of animals, securing assets, and temporarily quarantin-ing animals, among other objectives. Volunteers would be required to use their own vehicles and equipment during such events. Volunteer Agriculture Response Team members are expected to know the basics of animal handling, ani-mal behavior, animal health, animal nutrition, fence mending, and must have a good working knowledge of the equip-ment and tools they are utilizing.
The Forensic Services Volunteer Team members will assist in handling and processing property crime investigations. Forensics candidates will complete a 40-hour academy where they’ll develop forensics investigation skills. Forensics volunteers will also be trained in photography, identifying items of evidentiary value, fingerprint processing, evidence packaging, and report writing.
As I mentioned before, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office has a number of volunteer units compiled of people who give gra-ciously and willingly of their time, which we all know is important. Each year, our volunteers donate tens of thousands of hours to their community. To say we’re lucky to have that sort of support and partnership is indeed an understate-ment. And that is truly the embodiment of our motto: We Fight as One.
Prospective volunteers must undergo a background check and fingerprinting. Volunteers do not receive any salary or benefits but are covered by worker’s compensation. Volunteers must also agree to work a minimum of hours a month that differs for the unit that they join.
There are a number of volunteer units here and more information on each one can be found by visiting http://pascosheriff.com/volunteer-opportunities/. If you’re interested, please call the Pasco Sheriff’s Office Human Resources Department at (727) 844-7791 or 1-800-854-2862, extension 7791. You can also find an online application by visiting the website mentioned above.
Office of Paula S. O’Neil Clerk & Comptroller
Pasco County, Florida
Customers often reach out to the Clerk & Comptroller’s Office seek-ing court-ordered protective injunctions. A protective injunction, or restraining order, is a court order issued by a judge that can protect someone from being physically or sexually abused, threatened, stalked, or harassed. Our Office processes over 2,000 injunctions an-nually for protection from domestic, dating, sexual, repeat violence, and stalking. For more information on filing an injunction, please call (352) 521-4542 in Dade City or (727) 847-8031 in New Port Richey.
Securing protection from the court is only part of the journey. Valua-ble assistance with emergency shelters, guidance, and support is avail-able from the Salvation Army Domestic Violence Center (West Pasco hotline: (727) 856-5797) and the Sunrise Domestic Violence Center (East Pasco hotline: (352) 521-3120).
Voter Registration Season To most the arrival of fall brings visions of pumpkins, colorful leaves, and the
start of the holiday season, but to those of us in the profession of conducting
elections, fall conjures up associations to voting season! By this time next
year we will be within a few short weeks of electing a new president. Septem-
ber is celebrated as National Voter Registration Month in which we encourage
voter participation and increase awareness of state requirements and dead-
lines for voting. However, it doesn't end with September. It's always a good
time to set aside a few moments to register to vote, or if already registered,
to go online and check that your registration information is correct and up-to-
date.
The upcoming election cycle will have two primaries, the Presidential Prefer-
ence Primary in March and the August Primary. It's important to remember
that by law, Florida is a Closed Primary State, which means your ballot on
primary day is party-specific. With the start of the debates among Presiden-
tial hopefuls, it will be important to ensure that you are registered in the par-
ty of your preference at least 29 days prior to these primaries. Party changes
and same-day registration on Election Days is not statutorily allowed in the
state of Florida - important information for those who are new to the state.
To conveniently check the accuracy of your voter registration, go online to the Florida Divi-sion of Elections' web portal at: http://registration.elections.myflorida.com/CheckVoterStatus. To check election dates and book closing dates for new registrations and party changes, visit our website at: http://www.pascovotes.com/Elections/Election-Dates

Pasco County Fire Rescue is joining forces with the
nonprofit National Fire Protection As-sociation (NFPA)
along with firefight-ers and safety ad-vocates nationwide during Fire Preven-tion Week, October
4-10.
Pasco Fire Rescue reminds citizens about the im-portance of having working smoke alarms in every bed-room, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of
the home, including the basement.
Location matters when it comes to your smoke alarm. That’s the message behind this year’s Fire Prevention
Week campaign, “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep. Eve-ry Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm!”
“In a fire, seconds count,” said Emergency Services Di-rector and Pasco Fire Chief Scott Cassin. “Half of home fire deaths result from fires reported at night between 11
p.m. and 7 a.m. when most people are asleep. Home smoke alarms can alert people to a fire before it spreads,
giving everyone enough time to get out.”
According to the latest NFPA research, working smoke alarms cut the chance of dying in a fire in half. Mean-while, three out of five fire deaths resulted from fires in
homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.
