S10 SERIES

The S10 range is Shearflow’s most popularmodular air curtain system. Suitable for offices,shops, reception areas and other commercialpremises, the S10 series combines streamlinedgood looks with high performance and low noise.Modules can be mounted singularly to coverdoorways up to 1.5m, or combined to provide acontinuous barrier over any width of opening andare suitable for doorways up to 2.7m high. TheS10 series is supplied without controls. Remoteswitching and a control link allow any number ofmodules to be centrally controlled.

High performance is provided by low noisetangential fans connected to powerful twin shaftmotors for long service life. Construction isdurable white powder coated steel galvanisedsteel chassis, moulded end caps and brushedaluminium inlet grille.

S15 SERIES

S15 modular air curtains combine the samedesign characteristics as the S6 and S10range, with higher output for largercommercial applications. Typically S15units can be mounted up to 4.0m high, butstill provide high performance and relativelylow noise. S15 units are available in 1.0mand 1.5m modules and like all Shearflowmodular units can be linked together toform a continuous barrier. Remote switchingand a control link allow any number ofmodules to be centrally controlled.

S15 units also use tangential fans coupledto twin-shaft motors for reliability and longservice even in the most demandingenvironments. Construction is durable whitepowder coated steel galvanised steelchassis, moulded end caps and brushedaluminium inlet grille.

S20 SERIES

The S20 series are Shearflow’s most powerful aircurtains; designed for industrial doorways, loading bays,warehouse doors etc, up to 6.0m high. These units areparticularly suitable for doorways that are continuouslyopen to allow the movement of traffic or goods. As wellas providing energy efficiency, they enable comfortableworking conditions, improve safety, for example byremoving the need for physical partitioning and preventthe ingress of dust and vehicle fumes. These units canalso be used in summer for a welcome cooling effect.

Despite the powerful output, S20 units have relativelylow noise characteristics and use durable componentsfor long working life, including 3 phase industrial motorsand dampened motor mountings. Control is carried outremotely allowing a number of switching options.

Finish is white powder coated steel with a galvanisedsteel chassis and brushed aluminium inlet grilles.

S10/S15 RECESSED SERIES

Both S10 and S15 ranges are available as recessedunits allowing safe and simple installation in falseceiling voids.

In their recessed form S - range air curtains can coveropenings up to 2.5m high (S10/R) or 3.7m high(S15/R), and 2m wide. Internally the air curtaincomponents are identical to the standard surfacemounted models and are supplied ready fitted in arobust steel mounting frame.

The frame can be suspended from a load bearingstructure using drop rods or other suitable fixings. TheShearflow recessed system is quick and convenient toinstall as well as being very versatile. The suppliedmounting frame ensures that the air curtaincomponents are mounted securely and that safeclearances are maintained around the unit.

Each recessed unit comes complete with a flush fittingceiling grille. No controls are supplied but any ofShearflow’s remote control options may be used.

COLD STORAGE

Cold Stores, food preparation areas and chill rooms canbe protected against the ingress of warm air by theinstallation of a Shearflow ambient (unheated) aircurtain. The ambient air curtain provides an invisible airbarrier and if a well designed, correctly sized unit isinstalled it is possible to prevent mixing of internal(chilled) and external (warm) air. Extensive research iscarried out at Shearflow’s research and developmentfacilities to ensure that the airflow speed and pattern isexactly as needed for such critical applications.

Use of air curtains to protect cold stores also avoids theneed for protective screens and barriers in front of open

doorways, which reduce visibility, for example wherepowered handling equipment is in use.

All Shearflow S-Series modular air curtains can be suppliedas ambient units for cold stores. The modular constructionallows any width of doorway to be covered and doorheights of up to 6m to be screened. Vertical mounting,using optional mounting brackets, allows further flexibility.

When ordered as cold store variants, S range air curtainscan be supplied with additional brackets, to clear projectingcold store doors, and door switch activation.

Ambient air curtains may also be used as dustand insect barriers.For individual model specifications please see respective pages.

CONTROLS

Shearflow modular air curtains (except S6 series)are supplied without controls, allowing a widevariety of remote switching options and convenientlocation of the user controls. Typically air curtainsare controlled manually using on/off and outputswitching. This method is suitable where thedoorway is continually open or in frequent use.Shearflow provide a number of control options:

Standard switch boxesEach SBO (water/ambient unit) or SB (electric unit) canbe used to control single or multiple units and may bemounted up to 20m from the air curtains. These robustcontrols allow on/off, high/low fan speed andhigh/low output (electric versions only).

Thermostatic control (RTE/TS2)Air curtains may be controlled thermostatically either toswitch the unit or the heating elements. Thermostatic

control is most suitable where the air curtain is alsobeing used to provide a heating service.

Valve controls (VR20/25)A range of valve actuation devices is available.Supply to water units should always be isolatedlocally (isolator valves not supplied with units).

Door activation (MDCT3)Air curtain activates when door is opened, usingmagnetic contacts. Adjustable fan overrun time.

BMS activation (SBMS)Standard configuration allows 24v signal for on/offand fault signal, Summer/Winter running switch.
