INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS1. This assignment contains question that is set in English.
2. Your assignment should be typed using 12 point Times New Roman font and 1.5 line spacing.
3. You must submit your hardcopy assignment to your Facilitator and ON-LINE via the MyVLE. For the online student, you are to submit a softcopy of your assignment via MyVLE and another softcopy to the facilitator via e-mail. Refer to the portal for instructions on the procedures to submit your assignment on-line. You are advised to keep a copy of your submitted assignment and proof of the submission for personal reference. Your assignment must be submitted on 10-12 July 2015 (4th Seminar). 4. Your assignment should be prepared individually. You should not copy another persons assignment. You should also not plagiarise another persons work as your own.
EVALUATIONThis assignment accounts for 60% of the total marks for the course.OBJECTIVE: This assignment is designed to provide learners the opportunity to accurately and effectively apply the relevant theoretical knowledge and practical skills to assess the management of educational institutions. Specifically, the assignment will give learners the opportunity to gather relevant information from various sources and conduct a small scale investigation focusing on actual school environment.
INSTRUCTIONS: This Assignment consists of three (3) tasks, Task 1, 2, and 3 which are inter-related. You are required to complete all three (3) tasks and submit them as a single assignment.QUESTION:There is powerful new evidence about the significance of school leadership in determining school outcomes. Leightwood (2004) for instance, concludes that school leadership is second only to classroom teaching as an influence on pupil learning.Task 1Write a critical review of literature related to the importance of school leadership on student outcomes. Your review must be based on at least FIVE journal articles related to this topic. The review should be 5 6 pages in length. [40 marks]Task 2Based on your review of related literature, develop a questionnaire to be used to conduct a survey in a school/institution of learning to find out the effectiveness of leadership in their organisation.
i. You must first state the objectives of the survey and the research question(s) you have formulated (1 page) before you develop the survey instrument.ii. Your survey instrument should contain at least 20 questions.iii. The purpose of the survey must be clearly stated on the first page of the survey instrument.
iv. Instructions to respondents must be clearly written.v. The survey must be administered to at least 25 respondents.[30 marks]Task 3
Analyse the responses from your respondents and report your findings. Your report must highlight significant findings related to your research question(s) and include recommendations on how the effectiveness of leadership in that particular organisation can be enhanced.
