JOY will be taking a trip to Wohlfahrt Haus for the Christmas special on Wednesday, December 14. Come and enjoy a delicious holiday feast and production filled with the Christmas songs you know and love with a breath-taking Nativity that will put you in the Christmas spirit. The bus will leave the parking lot at 10:30 am and return around 5:30 pm. Sign up at the bulletin board in the Commons and leave your money at the office. Tickets are $45. All are welcome. OLIVE BRANCH The 2017 annual St. Joseph Sunday Missal and Guides for Christian Prayer and Liturgy of the Hours are here. Your advent candles are in. Many new gift ideas, including rosaries, medals, crucifixes and gifts for the home are available now. Hours for the store are Wednesday from 1 - 4 pm and 4:30 - 7 pm, Saturday from 10 am - 1pm, and on Saturday and Sunday before and after Mass. The Olive Branch will be in the Commons on the weekends of November 12/13 and 19/20 for your shopping convenience. ROOM REMODEL We are in the process of refurbishing a room in the Family Life Center and need some donated items. We need a rug, end tables, lamps, a coffee table and a fake plant or two. If you have any of these items in good condition that you would like to donate, please send measurements and a picture to Angela at [email protected] so we can determine if it is a good fit for the room. Thanks so much for your help! ORDER OF FRANCISICANS SECULAR Almost 800 years ago in Assisi, a man named

Francis was called by God to “Rebuild My Church.” The times were difficult, war and greed were rampant. He chose the Life of Christ (Gospels) as his guide. People began to follow him embracing his values of poverty, joy, simplicity, gratitude and love of all God’s creatures. They continue to do so today. If you would like to learn more, consider yourself, you are cordially invited to the Fraternity of the Companions of Francis and Clare on Sunday, November 20 and/or Sunday, December 18 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 1:00 pm and see if this might be for you. For more

information, call Tom Fame at 521-6414 or Vicki Hubbard at 389-4092.

ADVENT Only two more weeks until the beginning of Advent - a good time to increase your prayer life or start a new one. Our Little Blue Books for advent will be available in the

Commons starting on November 20.

NEXT WEEK’S COLLECTION for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) needs your help. CCHD was founded to break the cycle of poverty in the United States by funding organizations that help individuals help themselves. With the tradition of improving education, housing situations, and community economic development, CCHD continues to make a positive impact in communities nationwide. Your contribution will defend human dignity and

reach out to those living on the margins. Please give to the CCHD collection.

JOY” JUST OLDER YOUTH will have lunch and games this Wednesday, November 16 in the Social Hall. All are welcome - come and have lunch and play cards or board games for the afternoon. We have a great time.

FLOAT FOR THE CHRISTMAS PARADE OLPH is putting together a float for the Salem Christmas parade on December 2. YOUR HELP IS NEEDED. There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the Commons; please look to see what you might be able to do. This is a combined effort of all our organizations here at OLPH and anyone else that wants to help. THE OLD TESTAMENT is the story of how God prepared the world for the coming of His Son. Advent is the time when we, as Christians, prepare ourselves for the coming of God's Son, and the Jesse Tree is a unique way of preparing for Christmas. Join us in Room 7 each Sunday of Advent to follow the Jesse Tree stories and see how God made the world ready for His coming. Sessions will be from 9:00 am to 10:15 am beginning on November 27. Contact Christine Johnson (915-6343) for more information.

The mission of the Archdiocese is to “serve those who serve” by providing the same pastoral care and services as any other Catholic diocese to Catholics serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, U.S. Military Academies, and veterans undergoing treatment in medical centers. To learn more about the mission and ministry of the AMS, please visit www.milarch.org/nationalcollection.com. You will find information letters and offering

You can never love her more than Jesus did.” —St Maximilian Kolbe

PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS The Pastoral Council Election will be on November 20. We are seeking three people to join the Council who are Catholics in good standing, who can serve as advisors to the pastor in planning the direction our parish is heading, and who can represent the people of the parish well for the next three years. Please review the nominees and prayerfully discern who would be best for this position.
