A WORD FROM FR. IVAN
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We are at the 33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time which means we are at the end of our liturgical Year that finishes next Sunday with the Solemnity of Christ the King of the Universe. The liturgy highlights sufferings, contradictions and even destruction in the world in one word the end of time. However, as Christian people we all strive to be people of hope and perseverance in our life of grace. The Lord will help to show us what is the deepest source of evil in the world that is out there. as St. John Paul II says within man. So if we are have God’s wisdom in us it helps to safe guard the life of grace within us and protect us from the evil within. The book of Bin Sirach says, “First stage of wisdom is the fear of the Lord.” (Sir 1:16). Our Capital Campaign, “Moving Forward in Faith” is going well. You can see where we are at in the insert paper in our bulletin. This weekend is called Commitment Weekend I. You can find envelopes in the pews with pledge cards. So I am inviting all those who have not yet pledged our campaign to consider doing so this weekend. After
the homily the ushers will be collecting the pledge cards. Next Sunday we will have the Rite of Acceptance of our RCIA Candidates for baptism, at this coming Easter Vigil. We have 13 candidates this year from our Karenni and Karen brothers and sisters. I am thrilled with our outreach program to our Karenni and Karen people many of them are young in the faith and 13 are following the path of faith and life in Jesus Christ. So next Sunday, November 20th at the 10:30am mass we will have a special rite called the Rite of Acceptance. The Jubilee Year of Mercy concludes on November 20th. There will be a special mass to end this Jubilee Year at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis with Archbishop Hebda at 6:30pm. I strongly invite everyone who can go to attend. This will be the last opportunity to go through the Holy Doors of Mercy and receive the indulgences. The indulgences can be received by doing a confession, pray the Creed and Our Father Hail Mary, and a Glory be and attend Mass with the reception of Holy Communion.
God Bless and have a blessed Sunday!

Saint Gertrude
Gertrude was five years old when she came to the great Benedictine monastery in Helfta, Germany, a training ground for mystics and a well spring of saints. Her teacher was Saint Mechtilde of Hackeborn, whose divine revela-tions Gertrude compiled. In time, Gertrude too was favored with a life of intense prayer. She drew very close to Christ’s human heart, anticipating the devotion to the Sacred Heart that arose 300 years later. Gertrude died in 1301 at Helfta. Her Spiritual Exercises and Herald of Divine Love have en-joyed a wide audience since the 16th century, like St. Fran-cis de Sales and St. Philip Neri.
==FROM THE PARISH ADMINISTRATOR’S OFFICE== Parishioners have been responding generously to the capital campaign. Stewardship is such an integral part of parish life. I would like to invite you to visit the International Catholic Stewardship Council website at www.catholicstewardship.com to read their monthly stewardship newsletter. This month’s newsletter stresses gratitude. Our Pastoral Council held elections on November 7 and we have 3 new members to the council: Fran Blatzheim, Ginny Bauman, and Doug Palmer. We appreciate all those who were willing to step forward to provide leader-ship to the parish. Help has arrived for parish needs! Rocio Suarez and her husband, Hernan Macias have come from New Jersey to help as needed around the parish. They are part of the Neo-Catechumenal Way and have come as volunteers. Hernan has been busy refinishing the wood rectory doors. We have also had the leaded glass repaired in the rec-tory front door entrance. Another project that has been completed is the refinishing of the hand rails outside of the parish office. Rocio has been helping me with some of our routine accounting tasks as well as tending to the needs at the rectory including meal preparation. Please welcome them if you see them around campus. We have been gathering data about our parish outreach since May. We are hoping to find resources outside of our parish to help fund this outreach since it is still uncertain what will happen with renting the school build-ings. We continue to seek a new tenant or tenants for July 1, 2017. It is still early in the process and there is in-terest in the schools. We will continue to keep you updated as things develop for renting the schools. If you are aware of any individuals or organizations that we could approach for possible financial support of our parish outreach, please let Fr. Ivan or myself know. May you have a blessed week!
