• The MS Series spindles were designed for small diameter drilling, milling, grinding and slitting saw applications. Thesespindles are high-precision, compact motor spindles that are ideal for adding to the capabilities of existing machinery orincorporating into the design of special purpose machines.

• The MS Series air motor and air turbine spindles were specifically designed for using in NC and CNC machines. In spite of theircompact size, the motors feature high output with very little heat generation allowing for long term continuous operation.

• The MS Series is perfect for small diameter, high-precision machining operations such as drilling, milling, slitting and grindingapplications. Depending on the intended application please select the appropriate model spindle considering size, speed, andrequired torque, etc.

CONFIGURATION & CHARACTERISTICS

A planetary gear speed reduction system is incorporated in someof the MS Series motor/spindles. The speed reduction ratio iseither 1/4 or 1/16. This maintains a high motor speed whilegiving very high torque, low speed rotation at the spindle. Bycarefully selecting only the highest grade materials for theplanetary gear reducers we can ensure high load capacity.

•Speed Reduction System

• Air MotorThe rotor of the air motorrotates off center in thecylinder. The vanes are pushedby compressed air and thisrotates the rotor. This small airmotor produces high torquemaking it suitable for smalldiameter drilling, milling,slitting and grinding.

• Air TurbineThe rotor is rotated by thevelocity of the air streammaking this type of spindleperfect for applications requiringvery high speed rotation.

Configuration & Characteristics

•Installation of 90�Angle Type•MSS · MSST · MSSH series angle (RA) type drive air and exhaust air pipes can

be removed enabling the motor spindle installed through the front of a holderwith backside restriction as shown in the illustration.

Installation[1] Remove Intake and Exhaust Air Pipes from motor spindle. [2] Insert the straight spindle from the front side of holder and fix it.[3] Mount the intake and exhaust air pipes to the spindle fixed on the holder and

attach a hose to the quick disconnect joint.• Urethane hose of 6 x 4 for intake air and 8 x 5 for exhaust air can be installed.

•Outer Housing MaterialThe outer housing is (SUS416) precision ground to +0/-0.01mm.

•ConfigurationEither straight or 90� air connection types are available dependingon the mounting and plumbing restrictions in your installation.

•Very high spindle accuracy makes ultra-precisionmachining possible.

•The design of NAKANISHI's air motors and airturbines gives the highest output power in thissmall spindle class.

By utilizing a silencer on the exhaust air tubing the noisegenerated by the motor or turbine is greatly reduced.

The MS Series spindles are specifically designed for long termcontinuous use in high speed machining applications such as smalldiameter drilling, milling, slitting and grinding applications.

It runs by connecting the air line kit to Compressor [1] directly. Stablyadjusted air pressure is supplied through Air Regulator [2] that alsocontrols the speed of spindle. Air is purified by Air Filter [3] and Lubricator[4] supplies lubricant automatically to the air spindle while in operation.Switch [5] controls the operation of air spindle ON and OFF.

*The motor speed of 90˚ Angle air connection type motor / spindles are 10% less than that of the straight type.

• The MSSH-25 · MSS-25 Series Air Motor Spindles incorporate a specially designed 24,000 min-1(rpm) air motor. The{6,000 and 1,500 min-1(rpm)} versions also utilize a high-precision small planetary gear speed reducer system whichprovides high torque, high output power and excellent durability.• 6,000 min-1(rpm) : 1/4 motor speed reduction, Torque is 4 times greater than motor torque. • 1,500 min-1(rpm) : 1/16 motor speed reduction, Torque is 16 times greater than motor torque.

“MS SERIES” AIR LINE KIT & OIL

•The AL-0304 is designed to supply filtered, regulated, andlubricated air to NAKANISHI's air motor and air turbine spindles.An air line kit is required for proper operation of almost allNAKANISHI air motor and air turbine spindles. In some cases theair line kit alone may not provide sufficient filtering to preventcontamination of the motor and spindle, in these cases it isrecommended to use an air dryer or large capacity filter betweenthe compressor and the AL-0304.

*Reducer (ø8 - ø6 mm Adaptor) is provided.

•The AL-951 is equipped with a filter, a regulator and a lubricator asa set that is required when installing air motor and air turbinespindles on a NC lathe. In addition, two solenoid operated valves(DC 24V), which can be controlled by M-codes from NC device,are assembled and two air motors can be operated at the same time.Auto-drain mechanism works automatically when stagnant water isfrapped in the air filter. Alarm buzzer is also assembled in thelubricator to warn low of lubrication oil. As an option, additionalsolenoid operated valve can be installed to operate three air motorsat the same time.
