The HD3CHS Series CCTV Camera is ideal for indoor installations in commercial and residential environments.

Before You BeginPlease read this guide carefully before you install the HD3CHS Series 3 Inch Dome Camera. Keep this guide for future reference.

Unpack EverythingCheck that the items received match those listed on the order form and packing slip. The HD3CHS Series 3 Inch Dome Camera packing box should include, in addition to this Install Guide:

Cautions and Operating Notes

Power Supply This dome camera can operate on 24 VAC or 12 VDC.

Operating Conditions

Avoid viewing very bright objects (example, light fixtures) for extended periods.Avoid operating or storing the unit in the following locations:• Extremely humid, dusty, hot/cold environments (where the operating

temperature is outside the recommended range of 14°F to 122°F [-10°C to +50°C])

• Close to sources of powerful radio or TV transmitters• Close to fluorescent lamps or objects reflecting light• Under unstable light sources (may cause flickering)

The HD3CHS Series is a fully-integrated enclosure with camera and lens.

Disassembling the Camera

1. Gently turn the camera housing (#5 on Figure 2) counter-clockwise to unlock and pull free of the camera base. Note the two line markers.

2. Remove the inner liner (#4) by gently pulling it free of the two notches (#3) in the camera housing (#5). Set the housing, bubble (#6) and liner aside.

Connecting the WiringFollow Figure 1 to connect the video output connector (#a) and 24 VAC/12 VDC power connector (#b).

Note For DC power supply use, make sure the polarity is correct to avoid malfunction and/or camera damage.

Mounting the Camera

1. Place the supplied mounting template (#2 on Figure 3) on the mounting surface and mark the holes.

2. Drill two holes, then insert the screw anchors (#1) into the holes.3. Remove the camera housing, if you have not already done so.4. Secure the camera base to the wall or ceiling with the TP4 x 15 mm

tapping screws supplied (#3).

Note Depending on the material of your mounting surface, you may require different screws and anchors than those supplied.

Camera Setup FunctionsSee Figure 4 to locate the camera setup functions described below on the camera board.

Press the OSD joystick control straight down:• for two seconds to enter the

submenu option. If no settings are made, the menu disappears after a few seconds.

Move the OSD joystick control (#1) UP, DOWN, LEFT, or RIGHT to move to and between menus and options.

Select RETURN END to save all settings and exit the menu.Select RETURN RES to save all settings and return to the previous selection.

Adjusting the Camera PositionThe HD3CHS Series mini-dome camera has three axes for positioning the camera. While monitoring the picture on the monitor, adjust the camera position as follows.

Adjusting the Camera

Adjusting the Lens

Re-tighten the Zoom and Focus levers after adjusting. Repeat this procedure until the desired range and focus are set.

Important: Lock the zoom and focus levers after making adjustments so the positions don’t move (for example, from temperature changes or vibrations).

To adjust this axis … Do this …

Horizontal Rotate the 3D gimbal assembly in the base.

Caution Do not turn the gimbal assembly more than 360° as this may cause the internal cables to twist and disconnect or break.

Vertical 1. Loosen the Tilt adjustment thumbnuts (see #1 on Figure 5). Turn one Tilt adjustment thumbnut counter-clockwise and one clockwise.

2. Turn the Tilt adjustment bracket (#1) and Axis ring (#2) in the desired direction, then retighten the thumbnuts.

Horizontal for wall mount and ceilings

Rotate the lens base (maximum 360°) until you are satisfied with the field of view.

Zoom lever (#3) Turn the Zoom lever counter-clockwise a little, then rotate the Zoom lever until you are satisfied with the image view.

Focus lever (#4) Turn the Focus lever counter-clockwise a little, then adjust the focus for optimum picture sharpness.

Setting the Lens and Brightness LevelTo select the DC lens function:1. From the Main menu, select LENS.2. Move the joystick control LEFT or RIGHT to select DC (Automatic Iris

SENS-UP Set the Sense-Up function. Move the joystick control Left/Right to select:

BLC Backlight compensation. Control the light level to overcome severe backlighting conditions. Select from:

Setting the White BalanceThe table below explains the options on the WHITE BALANCE submenu.MAIN MENU ➤ WHITE BALANCE

AWB Opens the White Balance submenu where you set how the camera adjusts to different lighting conditions. Options are:

ATW (Automatic Tracing White Balance) Select this mode when the scene illumination varies between indoor scenes and outdoor scene lighting (for example, when under a fluorescent light, or outdoors). AWB (Auto White Balance)(default)AWC Automatically adjust the white balance to your specific environment. Select SET to adjust.MANUAL. In Manual mode you can adjust the red and blue settings, from 0 to 100.INDOOR, OUTDOOR

Setting the Day/Night ControlThe table below explains how to set the DAY/NIGHT control.MAIN MENU ➤ DAY/NIGHT Use this menu to set how the camera adjusts to low light.

AUTO (default) Depending on light level, the camera automatically switches from color to black and white. Select this mode to set:

DELAY: The time before the camera switches to Day or Night mode after detecting a switching threshold.

D-->N (Day to Night): The relative light level at which the camera switches to Night mode. The higher the value, the darker the lighting (the lower the lux threshold) must be before the camera switches.

Set D-->N should be set at least 3 less than N-->D.

N-->D (Night to Day): The relative light level at which the camera switches to Day mode. The lower the value, the brighter the lighting (the higher the lux threshold) must be before the camera switches.

Caution DAY/NIGHT mode must be set to AUTO to use this function.

COLOR Forces the camera to stay in Day (color) mode at all times.

Setting the Digital Noise Reduction (3DNR)Digital 3D Noise Reduction technology maximizes DVR recording capacity under low light. To set the 3DNR function, select MAIN MENU ➤ 3DNR. The options are:

OFFON (default), where you can adjust the level from 0 to 100.

B/W Forces the camera to stay in Night (B/W) mode at all times. The B/W submenu allows you to select Color Burst to be ON or OFF.

Note Certain video recorders require color burst to operate.

Setting the Camera Image PropertiesThe following table explains the options on the SPECIAL menu.MAIN MENU ➤ SPECIAL

CAM TITLE ON. Add a camera title (up to 15 characters).You can also select where the title appears on the monitor screen.

OFF (default). No camera title appears on the screen.

D-EFFECT Digital Effects. The options for the D-EFFECT submenu are:

MIRROR OFF (default), ROTATE, V-FLIP, MIRRORD-ZOOM ON opens the D-ZOOM submenu where you can adjust the PAN and TILT values. OFF (default)GAMMA: Set the value, from 0.05 to 1.0 (0.45 is the default and is typically the default value for CCTV CRT monitors)NEG. IMAGE: ON, OFF (default)

Set the Image Sharpness Level

To set the level of sharpness of the image, select MAIN MENU ➤ ADJUST. In the ADJUST submenu you can adjust the SHARPNESS, from 0 to 31 (16 is the default).

OSD Default Settings

To restore the factory default settings, select SETUP ➤ RESET ➤ FACTORY.

Completing the Installation

Attaching and Securing the Dome CoverTo attach the dome cover, follow Figure 7:1. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the dome cover clean and remove

fingerprints.2. Attach the inner liner (#4) to the Tilt adjustment thumbnuts (#2). Push

the unit down until it clicks into place.3. Place the dome housing and bubble (#5) on the camera base (#1).4. Align the line markers on the dome housing with those on the base.

Turn the dome housing gently clockwise until it locks in place.5. Secure the dome cover to the camera base with the TP1.7 screw (#6).

Routine Maintenance

• The dome bubble is an optical part. Use a soft, dry cloth to remove any fingerprints or dust.

• Clean the camera housing with a soft, dry cloth. For more stubborn stains, use a cloth dampened with a small quantity of neutral detergent, then wipe dry.

Caution Do not use volatile solvents such as alcohol, benzene or thinners to avoid damaging the surface finish.
