What is network ?

Consists of two or more computer linked with each

other in order to share resources.

Types of network

MAN:

Local area network

LAN is a network that is confined to a relatively small area.

1G•This is a first analog cellular system ,which started early 1980. •1G refers to the first generation of wireless telephones technology, mobile telecommunications

2G•Second generation telephone technology is based on GSM .

•2G launched in the year 1991.

3G NWTWORK

3G• The 3G network is the third generation of

mobile networking andtelecommunications

.• It features a wider range of services and

advances network capacity over theprevious 2G network.

• A 3G network provides for download speedsof 14.4 megabits per sec.

.

• Upload speeds of 5.8 megabits per second .

• It is also increases the rate of information

transfer known as spectral efficiency.

Advantages of 3G:Availability of fixed and variable rates

Always online devices – 3G uses IP connectivity

which is packet based

Rich multi media services are available

Disadvatages of 3G:

•The cost of cellular infrastructure , upgrading base stations

is very high

•Needs different handsets.

•Roaming and data work together has not yet been

implemented

•Power consumption is high

•Requires closer base stations and are expensive

• Network deployment costs and handset subsidies

4G NETWORK

4G•Current commercially available technologies LTE (Long-Term Evolution) and Wi-Max claimed that they are sufficiently advanced from 3G and thus claimed the right to call their technology.

• The target speed was at least 100 Mbps to qualify for the 4G label.

Advantages:Multiple devices will have the ability to run off of 4G network

Quickly download files over a wireless network

Extremely high voice quality

Easily access Internet, Social Networks, streaming media,

video calling, etc.

Higher bandwidth

4G is 10 times faster than 3G

Disadvantages:Jamming and spoofing can interfere with people's use of

networks

All 4G networks will share the same infrastructure; if one goes

down, they all go down

Higher data prices for consumers

Consumer is forced to buy a new device to support the 4G

It is impossible to make your current equipment compatible

with the 4G network

4G is only currently available in certain cities within the United

States.
