This unique opportunity gives you access to fashion experts in each city and key insights taught by experienced fashion staff and technicians in each institution.

London, Paris and Rome are all European Capitals of Fashionwith their own history and cultural identity.

Each area of study is designed to compliment your current course level and give you extra specialist first-hand knowledge and skills particular to each institution.

The 3 FASHION CITIES short course can be an excellent opportunity for any student currently studying on an undergraduate fashion course, or preparing an application portfolio for entry to a degree course in fashion including You will be introduced to new research methods in order to enhance your existing design research and portfolio skills.The three institutions have aligned their educational teaching methods to give students an innovative short course programme.

The new collaboration between 3 different international reputable fashion institutions in Europe; Kingston University in London, Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris and Accademia Costume & Moda in Rome, is a new innovative formula of fashion education short courses combining an introduction to each city’s specific diverse culture and their own fashion system.

WHO IS THE SHORT COURSE AIMED AT ?

The course is designed for international students from different cultures and fashion backgrounds who are interested in an opportunity to be taught in 3 different fashion institutions.

Students studying fashion at undergraduate level could benefit from these experiences as complimentary to their own course, as it can help them to prepare an application portfolio for any undergraduate or post-graduate course.

The subject areas, not often covered within a traditional course, would give an opportunity to compare both international cultural differences and similarities within the broad fashion subject area.

The teaching methods are flexible so students of different undergraduate levels can benefit and achieve a positive outcome.

Minimum of 4 hours a day 5 days a week, including external visits, directed visit.Students have workshop access duringschool opening hours.

COURSE CONTENTThis exciting opportunity covers a variety ofcreative research and specialist workshops led by experts. The content of each course is based on design methods within each institution leading to different fashion outcomes, reflecting the locations and the cultural diversity of the threecapitals.

The interactive approach of a creativeworkshop format within each school is combined with city visits and exhibitions. This enables the student to gain a full understanding and appreciate the different cultural approaches to fashion in the 3 cities.

A detailed programme will be given to eachstudent that is successfully selected to be on the course and have completed the tuition payment.

Each Fashion City experience can include the following but is not limited to:

• Visual research including archives.

• Museum and library visits.

• Creative workshop exploration.

• 2D/3D design work.

• Work on stand.

• Making of a toile or prototype.

• Portfolio feed back.

WHAT TO BRING?

Most workshop resources will be provided in each school, however you will need to bring some basic art and design equipment to each course:

• Laptop (with ADOBE photoshop and

powerpoint).

• Drawing materials.

• A detailed list of equipment will be

provided when you have been

accepted on the course.

• Being an undergraduate student from a

Fashion course.

• Basic skills in drawing, pattern, cutting and

sewing is required.

• Basic digital knowledge of Photoshop,

InDesign and PowerPoint.

• Minimum age 18 years old.

• English proficiency.

Last year the Faculty of Art Design and Architecture commemorated the 140-year-old legacy of Kingston School of Art to be relaunched as a brand next year and this heritage that is recognized as one of the best art and design schools in teaching and research in Europe.

Kingston Fashion BA Fashion course ranks 3rd in the world in the new Business of Fashion global website. It was again named 4th in the world by leading fashion blog Fashionista.com and also in the Guardian’s league table for 2016.

High profile Fashion alumni include designer John Richmond, fashion editor Glenda Bailey, Felipe Oliviera Baptiste at Lacoste ,bespoke tailor Joshua Kane and accessories designer Sophie Hulme. The Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, founded by the Chambre Syndicale of Haute Couture, is the perfect reflection of what is and has always been central to the work of Couturiers and Designers. PARIS : 4th July — 8th July 2016Haute Couture tradition of ‘flou’ technique - from Classical drape to avant-garde.

The course will offer the students an introduction to the origin of draping and its link from the ‘flou’ tradition of Paris Haute Couture to avant-garde. The course is designed in an interactive workshop format and will include:

• Introduction to Haute Couture tradition of ‘flou’.

• Visual research methods and how to document your process.

• Visit to a reputed Paris Fashion Museum and library resources.

• Introduction to techniques of draping and fabric manipulation.

• Shown how to present your work in mini portfolio.

Accademia Costume & Moda

Rosana Pistolese a noted Costume and Fashion Designer/Historian and Journalist, founded the “Accademia Costume & Moda”in Rome in 1964.

Over the years Accademia has been responsible in the development of many talents in the related fields of Fashion, Costume and Communication, such as Frida Gianni, Alessandro Michele (Creative Director GUCCI), Aldo Maria Camillo, Maurizio Galante (Haute Couture), Tommaso Aquilano (Co Creative Director of Aquilano Rimondi and FAY), Stefanno Canulli (Costume Designer for Tierry Mugler and Cirque du Soleil and Fashion Illustrator), Isabella Rossellini (Actress and model), Manlio Rocchetti ( Academy Award for “Driving Miss Daisy 1990”), Gianna Gissi and Francesca Sartori (both winner of several David di Donatello)
