TRANSCRIPT
As we approach the halfway point to the year, I am happy to report that the credit union remains fi nancially strong and on solid ground. As of the end of May our ROA remains a healthy .71% and our capital ratio continues in the “well capitalized” category at 9.56%. The credit union continues to grow in both asset size and membership. I would like to formally welcome the 130 new members that have joined the VLFCU family in 2013 and trust that you are fi nding your experience with the credit union to be rewarding and fulfi lling.
We continue to move forward with our Hayes expansion project and are quickly approaching our original planned start date. All construction plans have been completed and distributed to a select list of general contractors for the bidding process. Final bids are to be completed and submitted to the credit union by June 21. The construction committee will review the bids to prepare a fi nal budget and recommendation to the board. I am pleased to say that as of this report, we are still on target to start this project by the middle to end of July with a completion date of July 2014.
With family summer vacations in full swing, remember that you have over 5,000 credit unions available to you through Shared Branching. This is a safe and convenient method to access your funds when traveling throughout the country. Be sure to ask our staff for details before you embark on your next trip. Whateveryour plans, I do hope that all members enjoy the summer season!
Best Regards, Bryan P. MyersCEO

NEW ADDITION TO THE
MANAGEMENT TEAM
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT:EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT:Tom GosserTom Gosser
This section of our newsletter is generally intended to highlight a different employee each month so that our members are more familiar with our staff. This time, however, we would like to “spotlight” the accomplishments of someone we lost, but who was admired by us and so many of our members.
On May 2, 2013, Tom Gosser, who served as head teller at the Hayes Avenue branch, passed away unexpectedly following complications from surgery. It deeply shocked the entire staff, many of whom had worked with Tom since his start with the credit union back in 1996. Tom was a 1984 graduate of St. Mary High School and had worked for Cedar Point and O.E. Meyer before settling on a career with VLFCU. A resident of Huron, Tom was a huge sports enthusiast and was known as an avid bowler and golfer. He coached baseball for many years with the Huron Baseball/Softball Program and coached his son Brian’s middle school bowling team. He enjoyed following professional ball, particularly the Raiders, Orioles, Columbus Blue Jackets, Cavs, and Tony Stewart!
Along with his volunteer work as treasurer and sponsor representative for the Huron Baseball/Softball Program, Tom was also part owner of Gosser Bros. Screen Printing shop in Huron. He will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched, whether that is here at the credit union working on the teller line, out on the baseball fi eld or in his church community at St. Pete’s in Huron. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to his wife, Christine, and his two boys, Kevin and Brian.
