WELcOME TO ThE GREEn GAThERInG!We’re celebrating our Tenth Year in Piercefield Park

We are so lucky to be here. Eat and drink and be merry, lie in the sun, splash in puddles, relax. Have a dance, sit by a fire, listen to some tunes, meet friends old and new. Stay up late, talk nonsense, be a big kid. And then, the morning after, with your new mates from the night before, hatch a plan to improve your lives and make the world a better place. Learn to build a bender, carve a spoon, throw a pot. Share a skill. Share a story. Explore something you’ve never experienced before. The Green Gathering can transform lives. Maybe it’s a slow process, one person, a handful, at a time. But it’s magic. Dive in. Be inspired. Keep safe.

GREEn GAThERInG BARS

Our bars help to fund the festival, use sturdy reuseable ‘glasses’, and we source locally and ethically too! All cider and 60% of the beer is vegan.

Glad Apple Cider Bar

Facing the Village Green, with stunning views across the Severn Estuary, the Glad Apple is a perfect pit-stop. Taste the apples, or if cider’s not your thing go for a local craft ale, homemade ginger or juice. Daytimes be entertained by our rustic miniature bandstand on the Village Green. Later, unplugged acts and acoustic music around the campfire. And for local honey mead – Wye Valley Meadery is next door!

The Brimmon Oak

Near Soundscape Solar Stage. Beers and ciders, dark & stormy rum ‘n’ ginger, organic wine, elderflower champagne and more. The original 500 year old Brimmon Oak was threatened by road-building but saved by popular demand. Welsh media reported “A new bypass was ‘bent’ to save this wonderful ancient tree”. The Brimmon Oak went on to be a finalist in the European Tree of the Year contest and now stands as a symbol of the strength of people power and nature combined!

3.5% Bar (fka 99% Bar)

Beside the crumbling ruins of the mansion house, this bar and outdoor dance space hosts an eclectic assortment of djs and special guests, offering carnival vibes and splendid light shows. 3.5% refers to the % of a population required to become activists for a successful, non-violent revolution. Head over here for reggae, dance, trance and disco beats; groove and get radical over a few drinks around the 3.5% campfire.

Hedgerow Cocktail & Temperance Bar

Poets, comedians, clowns, storytellers and jazz musicians tumble out of Raconteurs’ Delight big top to enjoy temperance drinks and kooky hedgerow cocktails here: think lashings of rhubarb and ginger with gin; wild nettle and vodka; raspberry fizz or blackcurrant belter.

Triban and Floating Lotus also have small bars nearby.

PERMAcULTURE

A grassroots movement with the capacity to change the world! The Permaculture Community, nestled in the woods, will again be offering workshops, talks and sessions linking the principles of Earth Care, People Care and Fair Shares / Future Care.

Come and join us, there will be… ● Forest School activities with friends from Hallr Woods ● People & Permaculture with Looby McNamara ● Himalayan Permaculture with Chris Evans ● No Dig Gardening with author Steph Hafferty ● All Things Herbal with Coed Hills

Plus…The ever popular Free Shop, info stall, permaculture products & books for sale, pop up open mic sessions, and so much more!Take a look at the boards at the Info Exchange and in the Permaculture area for timings, or check our facebook page, updated daily during the festival: www.facebook.com/GreenGatheringPermaculture

We will be note taking, filming or sound recording some sessions for a new Permaculture YouTube channel. Findings will feed in to the Permaculture Association board of trustees, to help shape current and future strategy.

Come and chat, and help Permaculture Design become a normalised tool for change!

“We are grass roots. We are resilient. We are our future.” Tammi Dallaston, GG Permaculture Co-ordinator

SAcRED AcTIVIST SAncTUARY also known as the S.A.S. Village

In a grassy bowl a short stroll from the festival’s main venues, a living installation of artists and activists works collaboratively in service to a central Fire and explores curiosity about Sanctuary.

The S.A.S crew will be village building and creating a setting - by our approach, practices, radical hospitality and willingness to let go of certainty – which invites mystery to collaborate with stories and songs told around the fire.

We will offer activities and space to festival goers and together will curate the Star Lodge and Big Lodge. And we will build a Sweatlodge for Ancestors on Sunday.

A village noticeboard announces daily workshops & activities, including: Blood Mysteries & Cyclical Living; Wild Tea Walks; Natural Inks - making & marking; Dawn Dancing; Very Beginners’ Welsh; Lunar Cartography.

Why? ● To create a sanctuary setting for difficult conversations, songs and stories about the reality of living in these times; a space where all views are met with compassion, and all futures viewed as possibilities.

● To model micro experiments in collaborative living and doing things differently.

● To welcome grief and grieving as part of living in these times.

● To honour Sweatlodge traditions, held sacred by us. In the present situation it would be considered reckless to participate in the usual way and so we offer this one to the ancestors, meaning we do the usual prep, fire, music, drumming and singing as the rocks heat. Then put the rocks into the lodge, open our invitation to the ancestors to enter, (not us), then hold vigil and offer prayer around the fire for and to the ancestors of this land, all our lineages and all beings, human and non human.

Join us and share your story around a fire with music and stars, myth and magic to wonder under. Join us to prepare Sweatlodge on Sunday.

FIRST AID, MEDIcAL hERBALISTS, WELFARE, ASSISTED AccESS

The Medical Herbalists group is made up of medical professionals and trainees. Having studied Herbal Medicine for 3-4 years and undertaken at least 500 supervised clinical hours, our herbalists are skilled in conventional First Aid and in treating common illnesses with sustainably sourced, often organic, super effective herbal medicine. Paramedics are on hand to deal with any life-threatening situations. Our Medical Co-ordinator has worked in the NHS and ambulance service and is fully up to date on infection control.

Next to the Medical Centre, the Welfare team offers sensitive and sympathetic emotional and practical support, and a safe space if you need it, 24 hours a day. If the team can’t help with what you need, they will almost certainly be able to find someone who can.

The Lost Kids’ crew have a yurt on the edge of the Kids’ Area and will do their best to ensure children and their parents/guardians are safely reunited. Please note this service is not a creche and parents are expected to be responsible for their children at all times.

The Gathering has an Assisted Access Area located on a flat part of the site, close to the main track and to several of our major venues.A welcome tent, accessible toilets and and shower, communal campfire, BSL communication support, electric wheelchair/scooter charging (all solar!) and friendly helpful faces can be found here. The volunteer crew will do their best to facilitate everyone’s access to the festival. People with reduced mobility can request use of our shuttle buggy. We also have the ‘Serenpod’ – an autism friendly safe haven for when sensory overload hits. A small bell tent provides a quiet retreat equipped with comfy cushions, laptop charging point and upcycled sensory items for use by people with lived experience of autism or neurodiversity in need of a bit of peace and quiet on site. The Serenpod is situated next to the GG charity stall in the Campaigns Field and is available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Practical improvement suggestions - bearing in mind the limitations of our site and our non-commercial, small-budget nature - are very welcome indeed!

RESPEcT ThE LAnD, FESTIVAL cOMMUnITY AnD chEPSTOW

nEIGhBOURS ● Follow the Covid guidance to keep us all safe. ● Don’t camp directly under large trees, they may drop branches. ● Campfires to be raised off the ground away from tents; use only seasoned wood and don’t destroy woodland wildlife habitats.

● No nitrous (nos), aerial lanterns or disposable bbqs for environmental and H&S reasons.

● No flames or charcoal burners in tents (fire and carbon monoxide poisoning are deadly), no smoking in marquees.

● Take great care with glass and with cooking gas canisters. ● No cigarette butts left on the floor, no plastic glitter – both pollute. ● No drones (potentially unsafe and they invade privacy). ● Beware steep cliffs in woods around the festival perimeter. ● The racecourse, other than our clearly marked campervan arena and crossing, is strictly out of bounds.

● The ruined manor house and other ruined buildings are potentially dangerous; respect the fences around them and stay away.

● Look out for each other and don’t leave valuables in tents. ● Please no drumming 23.00-10.00; it carries and disturbs our neighbours, having the potential to harm community relations.

● Dogs must be on leads and picked up after - put poo bags in designated bins. Unaccompanied dog? Please inform a Dog Warden.

Monday you must leave by noon, taking all your camping gear with you. A shuttle bus will ferry you back to the gate or train station.
