5. SERVICE CONDITIONS(a) Members of the Force (Department) are allowed free ration as per authorised scale, clothing,washing allowances, free single accommodation, special compensatory, remote localityallowances and local allowances such as HRA, CCA etc as admissible.(b) New defined Contribution Pension Scheme, Leave Travel Concession, Children Educationallowance, Group Insurance, Injury benefits, Medical Treatment and other concessions includingfamily accommodation as applicable to Central Govt. employees are available to the members of the Force. The Department also maintains its own family accommodation at certain locations.

DEFINITION OF EX-SERVICEMAN(a) Ex-Serviceman means a person, who has served in any rank (whether as a combatant or asa non-combatant) in the regular Army, Navy or Air Force of the Indian Union but does not includeperson who has served in the Defence Security Corps, the Lok Sahayak Sena & the ParaMilitary Forces, and(b) Who has retired from such Service after earning his pension, or (c) Who has been released otherwise than on his own request from Service as a result of reduction in establishment, or (d) Who has been released from such Services after completing specific period of engagementotherwise than at his own request or by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct

or inefficiency and has been given a gratuity and includes personnel of the Territorial Army of thefollowing namely:-(i) Pension holders for continuous (embodied) Service.(ii) Persons with disability attributable to Military Service and(iii) Gallantry award winners.(e) The persons serving in the Armed Forces of the Union who on retirement from Service,would come under the category of "Ex-Serviceman" are permitted to apply for re-employmentone year before the completion of the specified terms of engagement and avail themselves of allconcessions available to Ex-Serviceman but shall not be permitted to leave the uniform until theycomplete the specified terms of engagement in the Armed Forces of the Union.(f) Ex-Serviceman who have already joined the Govt. Service in the civil side after availing of other benefits given to them as Ex-Servicemen for further employment cannot claim Ex-Servicemen status for the purpose of this recruitment; such a person will be deemed to be a civilemployee and will accordingly be entitled to only such of the benefits like relaxation of age etc,as admissible to civil employees, in the normal course in accordance with the existing instructionsin this regard subject to his fulfillment of the conditions governing the grant of such benefits.(g) Sons/Daughters/wards of Ex-Servicemen are not eligible to apply for the post reserved for Ex-Servicemen.
