ADORATION ADORACIÓN
Thursday / Jueves 9AM to 6PM
The Gospel we hear today reminds us of the gift of life, love and blessing that God shares with us. Lazarus and the rich man have each received the call to be stewards of the time, talent and treasure that God shares with them and with us each and every day. As you consider how best to support our parish community at St. Lucy I would ask you to hear with an open heart these three pillars of stewardship.
Time: Do we take time to talk with God each day? In prayer, in listen-ing, in opening our eyes to the needs around us are ways we talk with God. We can assume the rich man did not because his eyes and heart were closed to the suffering around him…even at his doorstep. Take ten minutes a day in the presence of God to pray and listen and your eyes will be open. (Continued page 5..)

LOOKING BEYOND OURSELVES
The message found in today's readings is an oft-told sto-ry. Citizen Kane, Daddy Warbucks, and King Midas are only a few of the familiar fictional characters who thought enormous wealth could buy happiness and fulfillment. Daddy Warbucks admitted stepping on a few people in his climb to the top. Kane tried to buy the printed word and stardom for his young wife, while King Midas con-jured immense wealth and tragedy by his very touch.
We learn clearly in today's readings that none of this is really possible. True happiness comes from caring for someone other than ourselves. It comes from the pursuit of the virtues Paul described to Timothy: faith, love, gen-tleness, godliness, righteousness, and endurance. The Gospel reminds us that we dare not ignore the needs of others, acting as though we don't notice their suffering. God's call to us is much too clear to disregard for even one more day.

(Pastor’s Notes Continued form page 1) Talent: Do we share our self with others in serving God? For many of us it is a simple yes in the basic love and care of family but God desires us to go deeper and look beyond in seeing how we can serve the greater community. The rich man loved his family deeply and shared great meals and many things with them but he never looked beyond his doorstep. We need to take time to serve beyond our comfort zone either with the Church or other groups serving those in need.
Treasure: Do we look at our worldly wealth as a gift from God? Each of us live in different circumstances with different blessings of treasure we are invited to share with others. How would the world have been differ-ent if the rich man had offered only a small amount of his worldly wealth to feed one man? How would eter-nity been different for the rich man?
We are invited to share of our time, talent, and treasure to change the world. Thank you for your continued prayerful support and your continued stewardship of our parish community.
God Bless, Fr. Mark
5th Annual Ministry Mingle / 5º Ministry Mingle Anual

Do you know what the word “Catechesis” Means? The word might be more familiar than you think. Many Catholics have used the word "catechism" for years, and they know it has something to do with the compendium of the Church's teachings. The root word, "catechesis," is from a Greek word meaning "to echo, or resound." Catechesis is the act of resounding or bringing the Church's teachings to the world. A catechist is a person of faith who leads others in understanding the teachings of Christ and the Church.
How is it that the parents are the first catechists of their children? The National Catechetical Directory tells us that the parents are first and foremost catechists of their children. They catechize informally, but powerfully by example and instruction. Lorraine Amendolara writes in The Original and Irre-placeable Catechist: The Parent that “faith development begins in simplicity, with rocking, holding, feeding, listening,
forgiving, comforting. These things that parents do every day become springboards of faith.” The most powerful messages children learn are often times through wordless messages. Children watch in fascination the stories their parents are telling. The underlying theme of hope or des-pair, of graciousness or absurdity. It is in the everyday, common experiences that parents and children discover and develop their faith in God.
