PASTOR’S POTPOURRI - DOING WHAT GOD WANTS

The parable of the two sons tells us that one son said “yes” but never followed through; the other said “no” but changed his mind and did his father’s bidding. “Which of the two did his fa-ther’s will?”, is the main point of today’s Gospel. Our faith is not just a matter of saying the right words or celebrating the right ritual. By way of example: how well does it work in mar-riage if one partner is always agreeable but never follows through? Our faith includes expressing ourselves in prayer and ritual but it also requires that we put into action the message and commands that Jesus has taught us. If we haven’t been liv-ing the way Jesus taught us, it’s never too late to change things around as the young man in the Gospel shows us, the son who initially said “no” to his father , but then had a change of heart. Let’s think on these things. (Excerpts from GUIDING LIGHT, 2017) — Fr. Bob
