Guide to project start-up (1)
Form a team of up to 4 members, preferably from your own class, own consortium
Read up.. brainstorm.. decide on what type of project that your group would like to embark on
Guide to project start-up (2)
Write a short proposal about your project
Decide on which teacher you would like to have as your prospective mentor
Make an appointment to meet up with your prospective mentor to discuss your proposal

Prospective mentor may ACCEPT or REJECT or ask that your proposal be amended
When ready, the leader of the group will go online to register the project and the members

Members must go online to AGREE to be in the group
Mentor will go online to APPROVE the group and the project
Competition schedule
Preliminary Round (6 Apr, Mon; Term 2, Week 3)
Semi-finals (9 Jul, Thu; Term 3, Week 2)
Finals (21 Aug, Fri; Term 3, Week 8)
Projects Day – Grand Finals (16 Sep, Wed; Term 4, Week 1)
Participation
Compulsory for Sec 1, 2, 3, 4
because of Independent Studies
Group members
group consists of max 4 members (if otherwise, see infor on website)
if include external members (same age group), must have at least 2 HCI students in the group
must have a mentor from list of HCI-teachers
Number of Projects
1 student = 1 project
Project registration
will be OPENED on 26 Jan, Mon

find out about each Category
begin to form your group
talk to prospective mentor (to avoid rejection later)
Project registration
As the foundation for Project Work for Sec 1s are not fully developed yet, they can register their projects under certain categories only:
Cat-3,4,5,6,7,9,10,11
o Each mentor can only take a max of 6 project groups
o Max for Cat 4 groups is 75 gprs for S2,S3 and S4.

if no news from mentor regarding status (accept or reject)
approach mentor to find out the reason
Uploading Group Web-report
group leader must have knowledge of FTP (file transfer protocol)
you will learn FTP during your Infocomm Studies lessons

carry out draft reflections

as you progress with project work

After Judging Completed
students not allowed to approach any of the teacher-judges
however, may ask questions during judging time
only teacher-mentor may approach Category Manager (for purpose of improving project)
Appeals
after Semi-finals, and after Finals
can appeal if you think your project deserves better
but only mentors can appeal on behalf of the group
appeal must be made (in writing) within THREE days after the release of results
Condition for appeals to be
attended to
all deadlines observed
all instructions by Category Managers / Project Manager carried out
e.g. uploading of web-report, etc ...
Project time-frame (take note)
all work must be completed by Finals (including service or community projects)
otherwise, the project will be pulled out of the 2015 competition (can carry forward to following year)
Compulsory presentation
During oral presentation judging, all members of the group are required to take turn to present the project
for Prelim, Semi, Finals
Rubrics will include this requirement

The first page of your slide during oral presentation should include the following details (so as to identify your group):

Considerations for adjusting grade downwards by a mentor:
did not do fair share of work in team
did not attend regular meeting session with team
did not meet up with mentor regularly
