Bob Scannell to Receive Cardinal Cushing Medal
for Excellence in Service to Humanity
The Missionary Society of St. James the Apostle will
be honoring this year's recipients of the Cardinal
Cushing Medal: Rev. Vincent Daily, Dr. Courtland
Harlow, Jr. (posthumous), and Mr. Robert Scannell,
Jr.
The Celebra�on helps to subsidize the work of the
priests who work amongst the poorest of the poor in
Peru and Ecuador.
Bob as President and CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs
of Dorchester for the past 28 years has enriched our
Community in immeasurable ways and has touched
the lives of tens of thousands of youth as he has
guided them to be produc�ve members of the wider
community and all that God has called them to be.

Update on Sheldon Lee
As you may know Sheldon Lee --- Cantor and Music
Director for the Adult Choir at Blessed Mother
Teresa Parish was savagely a#acked in his
apartment.
He is making great progress but has a long way to go
to be fully healed. We ask that you keep him in your
thoughts and prayers.
If you wish to send him cards please send them to
the parish office and we will make sure he gets
them.

As announced in previous bulle�ns, my assignment
as a Parochial Vicar at the Dorchester Tri-Parishes
ends on August 31. ADer serving for two years in
God’s vineyard in Dorchester, the Lord has called me
to move on to Somerville and minister to his people
in the collabora�ve of St. Catherine of Genoa,
St. Joseph, and St. Ann.
As I take leave of you, I’d like to thank you all for the
warm welcome you gave me when I first came to
the Dorchester Tri-parishes, and the love you have
showed me ever since.
I am also grateful for your support of my priestly
voca�on and your hospitality during my two-year
ministry at Blessed Mother Teresa, St. Peter, and
Holy Family.
A hearQelt “Thanks” to Fr. Jack and Fr. ‘Doc’
Conway, the staff, volunteers, and parishioners for
what you taught me and gave me. It was truly a
wonderful and invaluable learning experience.
