Introductions: 9:05 AM
Old Business: Billboard Design Contest – 1st place winner – Penns Grove High School,
will be erected in Penns Grove/Carney’s Point area in March. 2nd
place winner –
Pennsville High School, will be erected in Vineland in March. Pictures will be taken and
shared with the group.
Recognition - Pennsville Police Department and Chief Cummings were honored by the
coalition for their installation of an RX drug drop box in their station. Pennsville LMTI
leader Stacy Eckler and student Chris Rivera made the presentation at a well-attended
municipal meeting.
PRIDE surveys – Beth presented information at the Salem County Superintendents’
Roundtable meeting, in hopes of gaining their support when the coalition reaches out to
the high school principals in March. The hope is to have the schools conduct the survey
in the fall.
New Business: RX Conference and Community Event – Planning is shaping up for a full
day conference on May 7 and an evening presentation on May 28. Coalition members are
urged to attend at least one of the events as a show of support. We can offer Addictions
Cert Board credits such as CPS and CADC, in addition to Department of Education
CEUs. Beth will look into being able to offer nursing CEUs as well.
Sticker Shock Campaigns – 3 campaigns are being planned for April as part of Alcohol
Awareness Month.
Communications Officer – Unfortunately due to job responsibility reassignment in Salem
County, Kathleen Pompper will no longer be available to attend our meetings. My thanks
for all of her hard work during the last year!
Roundtable: Don - The coalition has been asked to write letters to Bill Kane, one of the
writers of a bill before the NJ Senate requiring a certain number of SACS per population
of a school district. This bill is currently stalled, and support from the public may help
move it along. Beth will send a template sample, but each letter should be slightly
different. Beth will also send information on who to send it to.
