Background• Dinokeng was established after an elaborate
Master Planning process• Master Plan provided the basis for the
intervention identifying – The area’s land has limited use for traditional
agriculture– Industrialisation would be hard to attract– Eco-tourism best intervention under circumstances
• Master Plan recommended three hubs and five nodes

Hubs and Nodes
• The three hubs are– Roodeplaat “waterways”– Cullinan “jewellery precinct”– Big Five game reserve
• The five nodes are intended to link the hubs through scenic routes and focus more on community benefits and spin offs from the growth of the hubs
• Only one town in the area: Cullinan
• No changes have been effected to the Master Plan since its inception
• Environmental Management Framework– Still developing the project based on this framework
• Tshwane was part of the process for EMF development.

ProjectsDINOKENG GAME RESERVE
• Opened on the 22 September 2011• Only Big 5 Game Reserve in Gauteng• The Buffalo was introduced in August to complete the Big 5• Management of relations with land owners• Contract was tendered for self drive route in the game reserve• Working for Fire/Water• Stakeholder relations• Finalisation of access controls for the gates• Finalisation of traffic calming measures in the game reserve
