  2. 2. Brothers and Sisters: 15 Watch carefully then how you live, not as foolish persons but as wise, 16 making the most of the opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore, do not continue in ignorance, but try to understand what is the will of the Lord. 18 And do not get drunk on wine, in which lies debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another (in) psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and playing to the Lord in your hearts, 20 giving thanks always and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.
  3. 3. Jesus called his disciples the salt of the earth because they were seasoned with heavenly wisdom. Jesus is the Sun of Justice, and calls his disciples the light of the world. The reason for this is that through them, as through shining rays, he has poured out the light of truth and wisdom upon the entire world. The unwise have chosen to ignore the light and truth. The wise have chosen to follow the lit path of truth all the way to the promised eternal rewards. Ephesians 5:8 for once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), 10 and try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
  4. 4. The Bible cautions us to live in a sensible way in our present world but we often ignore this wise statement and go our own way (Titus 2:12). We become unwise Christians and forget to take the kinds of safety measures we typically should to avoid Satans snares. Wise Christians are not suspicious but seekers of light and truth in a careful watchful way. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. What is the will of the Lord? His will is that we become holy. (1 Thess. 4:3). Holiness is the carrying out to perfection the teachings of the Lord. As Paul said to the Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, (RSVCE)
