What is Dakotafest Virtual 2020?

Each year, Dakotafest hosts educational sessions and political forums in the Reaves Building with topics such as ag policy, economy, health and safety and much more.

Dakotafest attendees pack the seats to hear from state and federal leaders, economic advisors, and various ag experts.

This year, Dakotafest will host these forums digitally through registration-required and open-source formats.

There will be three days of virtual, webinar-style learning events August 18 –20.

What is Dakotafest Virtual 2020?

IDEAg Group will host 8 total virtual, webinar-style sessions, 6 of which are sponsorable within our Dakotafest Virtual packages(see appendix for full schedule). These 6 sessions include:

SDFB Pasture to Plate Series

3 SDSU Programs on Beef, Agronomy and Meat Processing/Food Preservation

Each session will last 60-90 minutes, including time for Q&A.

Attendees wishing to ask questions will need to register in advance and participate in the LIVE Webinars.

Women in Ag Event Sponsor - $2,000 Program Overview:

The role of women in farming is essential to the long-term success of farming operations and family farms. To recognize this often-underappreciated group of on-farm leaders, we are introducing a Dakotafest event focused on Women in Ag and establishing an annual Dakotafest Woman Farmer of the Year award.

The event will be a virtual webinar-style meeting including a Women in Ag keynote speaker followed by the recognition and award ceremony. See Appendix for a full event agenda.

Women in Ag Event Agenda

A call for nominations will introduce this event and award through press release and media relations, community and women’s group outreach and digital communications. Nomination forms will be available for online submission through Aug 6.

Once received, all nominations will be reviewed and the Top Five Finalists will be selected by a judging committee made up of Dakotafest, Sponsor and American Farm Bureau committee and staff members. The Top Five Finalists will be announced and recognized in news, social media and website and will be invited to attend the Dakotafest Women in Ag event.

On Thursday, August 20 at 10:30 a.m., nominees and webinar attendees will logon to the Women in Ag event to hear featured speaker, Sherry Saylor, AFBF Women’s Leadership Chair. Mrs. Saylor will share an inspirational speech pertaining to women in ag and farm, family and community leadership. This will be followed by the award recognition ceremony for the Top Five Finalists who will receive gifts and awarding of the Woman Farmer of the Year who will receive a $500 cash prize. The award winner will be announced in media following the event.
