PRIMETIME Dion Brown Associational Missionary

M ay I ask a favor of you? Could I ask you to pray for your pastor in the month of August?

I know it’s not October, not pastor appreciation month or week or even day and I’m not even concerned that you actually do something demonstrable in the way of appreciation. I simply want to ask you to pray for him and his family by

name and with something more than just, “O Lord please bless our preacher.” I’m asking that you really hold him before our Heavenly Father and intercede on his behalf. Pray for his encouragement, for extra strength, for renewed hope and vision and for wisdom. He needs you now, perhaps more than ever to do this for him.

If you haven’t noticed, these are difficult days. Our country is going crazy along with the rest of the world. Things are not what they used to be and no one has any idea exactly what the days to come will look like. We’re going through a pandemic in a socially divided nation. Your pastor needs a fresh touch from the Lord. He needs grace and discernment and so much more. You need to pray for him, because he is being tempted over and over again to throw in the towel, to hang it up and move on and he needs to know that there are those who are holding him in prayer so he can gain the courage and stamina to press on.

I’m going to let you in on something. There are some in the church who don’t hold their pastor in high regard and they figure if this one leaves they can get another. Well, here’s the truth: Southwest Georgia and Colquitt County may be a great place to live and the Colquitt County Baptist Association may be a great group of churches to work with, but no one is beating down my door to get here. The reality is that fewer men are going into ministry and many more who have been in ministry are leaving. The retiring pastors and the ones who have given up far outnumber those who are coming in. So if for no other reason I encourage you to pray for your pastor because finding a new one may prove a whole lot more difficult than most would imagine.

Your church is under spiritual attack and as the under shepherd of your church your pastor is bearing the brunt of it. He is trying to navigate circumstances and situations that demand great wisdom, faith and insight. He is not strong enough in and of himself. He needs a fresh touch from the Lord. So I’m asking you to pray for him in earnest. I think it’s the best thing you can do.

One last thing before I let you go. Our annual prayer walk for the schools is coming up. August 9 is the official day though your church may choose another day to participate. Your pastor and your church need prayer, but our schools are close behind in that need. Would you do me the favor of not only being sure to participate in the prayer walk that your church is part of, but would you be a cheerleader, an encourager to others to get involved as well? Our children, teachers, administrators and school staff need our prayers in these uncertain days. Thanks!

IHMS, dion

COMING THIS FALL!! DISCIPLESHIP COLLECTIVE

Part of CCBA Women’s Ministries

We weren’t meant to do life alone and we weren’t meant to keep Jesus to ourselves.

Ladies, you have influence in your places. Whether you are a mom, a teacher, an accountant, or a small

group leader, there are others looking to you. So, how do we make disciples in the places God has put us in?

The Discipleship Collective is designed to give you simple tools to both enrich your personal understanding of the biblical, theological, and practical relational aspects of following God and activities for you to use to

engage those you’re discipling. While you dive deeper into topics like prayer and repentance and spiritual

gifts, you will be given tools to help disciple others in those areas of their lives too. For more information, contact Kim Hancock at 985-1168 or 921-6031.
