$12.50 per individual event $24.00 per relay team

Program Programs will be available for purchase at the Vorgee Merchandise Stand at the Main Entry. Event Program - $5 Finals Program - $2 (available only at finals sessions) Session Timelines will be available online 4th of March, Please note that these are provided as a guide only and can change.

NT Open and Age Championships Eligibility and Rules:

The meet will be conducted under the rules of Swimming Australia Ltd. One start rule applies to all Vorgee NT Open & Age events. Taping is permissible if it is not under the swimming costume and is accompanied by a medical certificate. The athlete must present themselves to the Referee 1 hour prior to the commencement of the meet.

Individual Entries: Swimmers must meet Qualifying Times to compete in there chosen events. QTs apply to all events. Qualifying Times can be found on page 9 & 10. No Qualifying times will apply to Multi-Class events.

Swimmers registered interstate may compete with the written permission of their controlling body (clearance). The transfer period/window of 30 days will be enforced.

No swimmer may swim up an age group.

No refunds of event entry fees apply if swimmers fail to attend meet or part thereof, cannot swim due to medical reasons or if events are cancelled upon the declaration of force majeure.

There will be a maximum of 2 visitors per final (where heats/finals format is used). If competitors do not make the QT for an event in the final they will not be awarded any points or medals.

Swimmers wishing to withdraw from heats shall do so on official forms available from the booth within twenty (20) minutes of published gate opening time.

Failure to report to marshalling by the specified time as above provided shall be deemed to be a withdrawal.

Finalists and substitutes (reserves) wishing to withdraw from a final shall do so on official “withdrawal from finals” forms available from the booth, within thirty minutes of the posting of lists of finalists for that event.

Any finalist (including reserves) who has not officially withdrawn as above and who does not marshal for the event, shall be deemed a late withdrawal except where there are medical reasons or proven hardship and, as such, shall be excluded from competing in the next entered event. In the case of it being the competitor’s last personal event of the Championships, the Club with which the swimmer is registered may be fined. The Meet Director shall determine the acceptability on all matters where medical reasons, or hardship, are claimed.

As reserves for withdrawing finalists are called in order of their ranking in the heats of the event, any swimmer not wishing to be called as a reserve must withdraw from the final as detailed above.

Relay Entries: Club relay teams may enter with a ‘No Time’. Changes to relays (swimmer names and/or order of swimmers) must be made on the official

form available from the booth and submitted within 10 minutes of completion of the session

prior to that in which the relay is to be held. For relays scheduled for Session 1, changes must

be made no later than 10 minutes after the scheduled warm-up start time. Swimmers must

swim in the order shown on the form submitted.

Unless changes have been submitted as above, swimmers must swim in the order published in

the program.

Additional relay teams for exhibition purposes may be entered ONLY where there is no team for that Club currently in the event and ONLY where there are spare lanes once the program is set, at the Meet Director’s discretion. Such teams will swim for no points and will not be formally placed in the program. Submissions for such exhibition relay teams must be made in accordance to the timeframe for relay changes set out above. Backstroke ledges will not be available for use at the 2019 Vorgee Open and Age Championships.

Entries: Entry for individual events is only available via online entry. Online entries open on Wednesday 6th February at 12.00 noon. Online entries close Tuesday 26th February at 8.00am. No late entries will be accepted. Please note that online entries time is local time (Darwin). Format and age restrictions:

Juniors:

Junior age groups (10, 11 & 12) will be swum as preliminary heats, with the 10 fastest of each

age group moving into their respected age group final for all 50m, 100m and applicable 200m

events. Junior age group finals will be combined if numbers are insufficient.

Age Groups:

For age groups 13, 14, 15, 16, 17-18, 19 & Over will be swum as age group timed finals in heats

and then open (13&Over) final this will apply to all 50m, 100m and applicable 200m events.

12 & Over:

Open Timed Finals will apply to the following events:

400m Freestyle, 800m Freestyle, 1500m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke, 200m Breaststroke, 200m

Butterfly and 400m Individual Medley.

At the Referee’s discretion they may send go to a straight final, where there are insufficient

entries to form more than one heat, in which case the scheduled heat swim would not take

place. Swimmers must check in with clerk of course (Marshal) in the current session when events

go to a straight final

Warm Up Procedure (50m Pool)

Lane 0 – Multiclass

Lane 1 – General Warm Up








Lane 9 – Dive Sprints

Clubs will be assigned a general warm up lane once entries are confirmed.

For warm up Lane 9 is reserved for diving only.

General warm up lanes are to be used for circular swimming, dives may take place in general

warm up lanes when under direct supervision of a coach.

Lane 0 is reserved for Multiclass swimmers only.

Warm up will conclude 15 minutes prior to competition starting. This will be announced by the

announcer each session.

25m Pool Access

During competitions the 25m Pool, will be open for any swimmers to warm up/cool down only.

All lanes will be general warm up lanes. No diving in any lanes in the 25m pool.

Access to the 25m is only for athletes wishing to warm up/cool down. Any non-athletes in the

25m pool will be asked to exit the pool.

Behavioural Guidelines

All persons participating in the 2019 Vorgee NT Open and Age Championships must adhere to

Lost Property Any lost property is to be handed into the Vorgee Merchandise tent, lost property will be

available for collection from the Vorgee tent until the end of last event on scheduled for the

morning session, at the conclusion of session lost property will be handed into the YMCA kiosk.

First Aid Venue staff are trained in first responder care and will be providing general first aid coverage

for all people attending the event.

Photography Photos will be taken of all medal winners as well as action and environment shots which will be

available online as soon as possible following the competition.

PRIOR to the championships

Event Merchandise

Vorgee , Swimming NTs official sponsor will be situated near the main entrance during each

session of competition with a range of aquatic merchandise for sale

Swimming NT Merchandise will also be available at the Vorgee Tent.

Emergency & Evacuation Plan

In case of an emergency all persons are to proceed out the main entrance located next to the

kiosk, the emergency assembly point is in the car park.

Medal Presentation Protocols

Age group medals to be collected from medal table situated next to control room, this will

apply to ages 13, 14, 15, 16, 17-18, 19 & Over.

All events that have finals will have a medal presentation at the podium located next to the

medals table (Including 10, 11, 12 Age Finals, Open finals & Relays).

Timed final events will be collected from medal table.

Medals shall be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place getters in each event, with gold for first, silver

for second and bronze for third. If equal placing occurs then medals will be awarded to each

equal placing, but the next following medal will be omitted.

Medal presentations are awarded in the order of Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Interstate (visitor) medallists will be awarded medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings.

It is important that all athletes and team managers are vigilant and understand the medal

presentation schedule prior to the session commencing, presentation schedule will be

available on the timelines for each session.

All athletes are to be dressed in club shirts and shorts, No Towels.

Competitors must remain in presentation area for official photos.

Team Managers Meeting

It is a requirement that each club have at least one representative attend at each team

managers meeting. These meetings will be held at 7:50am each morning and at 5pm prior to

the start of Session 1. For all other evening sessions Team Managers Meetings will not be held

unless called by venue announcement if called meetings will take part 40 minutes before the

start of each session.

Team Packs Team Packs will be available for collection from Swimming NT at Parap Pool control room from

Wednesday 12noon (6th of March), All teams will be able to collect up until Thursday (7th of

March) 2pm. Please Call 8945 3578 to arrange your team’s collection.

Team Packs will include 1 Coaches and 2 team managers programs.

There are no qualifying times for Multi Class (MC) events. MC swimmers may enter non-MC

events so long as the appropriate qualifying time has been met (standard rules will apply).

Multi Class Swimmers must have an eligible classification (with at least Provisional Status

granted by Swimming Australia) prior to the commencement of the meet. Classification card

must be presented to the referee prior to competition in order for the classification/s and

exceptions to be noted. Events will be 10 & Over.

If a swimmer has multiple classifications they must nominate which classification they will

compete under prior to commencement of the meet.

MC events will be conducted under the rules of Swimming Australia Ltd NB: National records

can only be achieved in single gender events.

MC events will be swum as gender Timed Finals and scored using the Swimming Australia Multi

Class point score calculator.

MC events may be combined with non-MC events if there are insufficient entries to form a competitive event.

Points Points will be awarded to swimmers placed as follows in finals and timed finals of Championship events: 1st – 10 points, 2nd – 9 points, 3rd – 8 points, 4th – 7 points, 5th – 6 points, 6th – 5 points, 7th – 4 points, 8th – 3 point, 9th – 2 point, 10th – 1 point

Points awarded for records set (as below) will only be used in order to break any ties in points for trophies. If those tying have set no records, or if there is still a tie after record points have been allocated, then trophies will be awarded to those tying.

Trophies Jim Gayton Trophy – Awarded to the female athlete who records the fastest time in a heat or final of the women’s 50m freestyle.

Champion Male/Female - Awarded to the male and female athlete gaining most points in finals and timed finals

Champion Distance Male/Female - Awarded to the female athlete who achieved the strongest performance, as measured by the HyTek Age single year Points System, in any one of the following events: the 400m, 800m, 1500m freestyle, 400 individual medley or a 200-form stroke

Judith Green Trophy - Awarded to the athlete gaining the most points in Multi Class events

Swimmer of the Meet - Awarded to the Northern Territory athlete with the most outstanding performance in one or more events, as measured by the HyTek single year Age Points System.

Keith Gabel Trophy - Awarded to the NT club whose athletes gain the most points in finals and timed finals of breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly events at these championships

Relay Trophy - Awarded to the Club gaining most points in the Championships relay events, 300, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306, 307, 308, 309, 310, 311, 312, 313, 314.
