As in the past, 5th Grade Students enrolling in Reading and Math should register at one of the Middle Schools.

Reporting AbsencesSecretaries will be on duty during Summer School at all District schools. Please call the school your child is attending to notify the staff of any absences. Leave a message should a secretary not be present at the time you call.

Behavior Communication PlanSummer School is a time for students to extend their learning. Negative behaviors disrupt the learning environment for all students. We expect that all students follow behavior guidelines established by the school and classroom. Our goal is to do all we can to work with students; unfortunately we may need to dismiss a student due to significant and/or on-going inappropriate behaviors. Below is a general guideline for the Summer School Behavior Communication Plan.1) If a student is disruptive to the classroom setting a contact will be made to inform adults at home of the disruption and ask for assistance.2) If student behavior does not change, a second call will be made to inform adults at home of the continued disruption, by the building principal or summer school supervisor.3) If student behavior still does not change, the student may be dismissed from the Summer School class.

Summer Symposium 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This summer the High Performance Learning (HPL) program is offering a variety of courses with a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) focus for our Summer Symposium. The courses are designed to address high-level thinking, problem solving and academic rigor. We encourage any student that is interested in exploring topics in which they have strong ability or interest to participate. You do not need to be in the HPL program. Please know though that these are not courses designed for students that need support as they are challenging. It is expected that all students will come prepared to have fun and work hard!

Once again we are offering a math course that is open by invitation only for those students who will be subject-level accelerated in the area of math at the middle school level in the upcoming school year. This course will address curricular gaps that might occur when a grade level is skipped. You will receive an invite in the mail in March if he or she is a candidate for acceleration.

The symposium will run from 8:00 until 12:00 noon, Monday through Thursday for 3 weeks in July beginning July 8th and running through July 25th. Sign up for 1 class or create a full schedule through choosing numerous offerings. Grade levels vary for courses with all morning courses being held at Lincoln Middle School.

This year we will be offering two different outdoor education courses. During the afternoons of July 15-18 or July 22-25 kids can participate in Science on the Farm. The course will take place at Deep Roots Community Farm. Transportation will be provided from Lincoln Middle School (12:30 PM) to the farm and back to Lincoln (3:00 PM) for those students wishing to stay after the morning Symposium concludes. A free lunch will be provided at Lincoln as part of the community lunch program. You may drive your child as well. In addition, we will be offering our Kids Make a Difference 2-week course at Myrick Park Center July 29- August 5th from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM Monday through Thursday.

Since enrollment is limited, be sure to sign up early to get your first choices. We understand that vacations, camps and summer activities sometimes arise after you have already enrolled your child. If you find that your child is unable to attend a class, we request that you call the summer school office (789-7798 or 789-8955) to have your child removed so that space becomes available for other students that may be on a waiting list. We appreciate your attention to this.

Helping our students be the best they can be!
