makes veterinary education more affordable and allows students to worry less about money and spend more time thinking about their studies and caring for animals. “I am humbled and honored to be chosen for such an award as the Frandle Family Scholarship. This scholarship will allow me to expand my hands-on learning experiences while managing a challenging and fulfilling life throughout fourth year. Life here on the Palouse has been an adventure. It has now been almost three years since moving to Moscow, ID and we have enjoyed every minute finding new activities to do. We have an almost three-year-old daughter and a happy almost six month old baby boy.
I have been blessed by the people I have met and the experiences that I have had. All of these have showed me the joy that comes from having a community of people that look out for you and want you to succeed. Whatever I do, it is my goal after graduation to be able to provide the care and education needed to keep animals and their owners together living long, happy and healthy lives because there are very few things that match the unconditional love that a healthy loving pet brings into someone’s life.”

Frandle Family ScholarshipKyle (‘74 BS, ‘76 MS, ‘80 DVM) met his wife Kathy (‘74 BA, ‘75 MA) when they were both juniors at WSU. He was working on a biology degree, she was studying elementary education.
Because of their wonderful experience at WSU, Kyle and Kathy wanted to help students in ways
that would touch their lives directly. Remembering the challenges of being non-traditional students, they started a scholarship to help young couples like them. The Frandle Family Scholarship is awarded to veterinary students at WSU who are married or in a committed relationship and have a financial need.
“We hope the scholarship will help ease the hardship for a married or committed couple during their time together as veterinary students at WSU,” says Kyle. “We have a strong commitment to the University. It gave us everything we needed to be successful.”

Ed and Lorraine Bargagliotti Scholarship
Lorraine is a lifelong friend and client of the Frandle family and wants WSU to graduate more doctors of excellence, just like Dr. Frandle. Through her planned giving, she intends to provide multiple $2,000
scholarships to DVM students with financial need, who also show active participation and leadership in extracurricular activities which demonstrates their commitment to the profession and acknowledgement of the human animal bond.

“I am honored to be selected as the recipient of the Wells Bekins Beef Cattle Scholarship in honor of Dr. Steve Parish. While attending vet school, I have involved myself in every large animal club and elective that was available. My favorite experiences were Ag animal and Therio club. My wife and I are both originally from southern Idaho, but also have many family ties to Wyoming, and hope to end up in one of these areas following graduation. My plans for my career are to work in a mixed animal practice initially and
as experience comes, work into production livestock consulting. We again thank you for your willingness to help upcoming families that face this challenging but rewarding stage of life.”

Why We GiveThe Roberg Family
The Roberg Family Scholarship: Jeff W. Roberg, DVM and Ann Roberg created this scholarship in memory of their son Charles F. Roberg. The entire Roberg family are graduates of WSU. Dr. Roberg graduated as a veterinarian in 1976 and Ann also graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Merchandising. Charles (Chuck) Roberg obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in General Studies in 2003 and Michele L. (Roberg) Schmidt graduated from the School of Architecture in 2004.

“I am sincerely thankful for the Roberg Family Scholarship. While in veterinary school, I have been involved in various clubs and taken advantage of opportunities such as practicing ultrasound guided pregnancy diagnosis on sheep and alpacas, learning how to work up a horse colic, or participating in a microchip clinic at a local shelter. I am employed as a teaching assistant in the Clinical Simulation Center. For this position, I help my colleagues
practice suture patterns, asepsis, as well as learn surgical techniques and procedures. It is a challenging and yet extremely rewarding job.
This scholarship will help me work toward my goal to improve the quality of life all animals and their owners, whether helping a rancher maximize their cattle’s production or taking care of a beloved family dog or cat.

“I am very appreciative to learn that I’ve been selected as the recipient of the Dr. George Ross Radiology Award, an award inspired by a passion for helping WSU veterinary students.
I was born and raised in Hawaii on the main island of Oahu and my grandfather and I would visit many places around the island to see birds, fish, sea turtles and monk seals. It almost goes without saying that my passion for the health of animals motivated me to become a veterinarian. You have lightened my financial
burden (especially for being an out-of-state student) which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school, learning!
