This is an Open meeting held under the National Sporting Code, Motocross Standing Regulations of the Auto Cycle Union, the Motocross Standing Regulations and 2019 Championship Conditions of ACU Eastern together with the Supplementary Regulations and Final Instructions issued by the promoting club.

Introduction and ThanksWelcome to Wattisfield Hall for a day of great racing. We fully expect the Wattisfield Hall track to once again serve up some close and competitive racing as riders scrap it out for positions in their respective championships. With just two rounds following this one (Wakes Colne on 6th October, followed by Lyng one week later) riders will be keen to score well and consolidate their current positions, or maybe set themselves up to push on for a higher placing at the end of the season.Following the generally dry summer, the ever-ready volunteers from the club have once again worked tirelessly to ensure the track is in great condition.We would like to thank our club sponsor, Clarkes of Walsham, for their continued support.We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all the many people who have helped put this meeting together and also to all those here helping today, and indeed all year, for supporting Diss MCC.

It is also a condition of admission to any event held under an ACU Permit that no part of the meeting can be filmed or video recorded and/or video transmitted in any way without the written consent of the promoters/organisers and/or the ACU except for the sole purpose of private enjoyment.

Riding in the PaddockYour attention is drawn to the serious consequences which could arise following an accident caused by unauthorised riding of any sort of machine in the paddock.The riding of machines of any sort in the paddock and areas surrounding the circuit is totally forbidden. Because this event is on private property it is NOT outside the jurisdiction of the Road Traffic Act in terms of insurance.It cannot be stressed too highly that liability for a substantial claim could rest with the owners of the vehicle and the driver (or the parent in the case of a minor).The Union’s insurers will quite legitimately repudiate any claim on them for damages arising out of the accident caused by an unauthorised driver.

FLAG SIGNALSThe following flag signals will be used:Red All Riders must stop. Riders must not pass any red flag unless authorised or directed to do so and then proceed at a slow pace.Yellow Motionless Danger, take care. Ride with caution.Yellow Waved Great Danger, prepare to stop, no overtaking. A significant reduction in speed must be seen, therefore jumps should not be attempted. Marshals are only advised to wave their flags when riders are stopped on the course in a dangerous position or being attended to by officials or medical staff.

Black with the rider’s number clearly shown on a board. That rider to stop racing immediately and leave the track.Green Riders under starter’s orders.Chequered Finish.White with Green or Red Cross: Medical attention required at that post.

TIMETABLE OF EVENTSTIMED PRACTICE5 minutes of free practice followed by 10 minutes of timed practice. Junior practice shall consist of four groups split equally with a maximum of 45 riders taking part in each session. ** Should electronic timing not be available for any reason, see Para 13 of centre handbook for schedule.

The Gareth Pettit Workers Race will take place immediately following the final qualifying session. This is a 4 lap race for invited riders only.

Special thanks to our MarshalsA very special thanks from Diss MCC and all other ACU Eastern clubs to the marshals who regularly attend events and keeping them running smoothly. Without their commitment to attend and the services they provide, events such as the MX today could not go ahead. At Wattisfield we have 14 static marshal points plus some roaming marshals. Each marshal monitors a section of track ahead of them and they become the eyes of the rider, covering sections of track they may be hidden to the rider such as the landing area after a jump. The marshals’ role includes monitoring the track for any incidents and then signalling to riders using a yellow flag which means caution / slow down. If the marshal waves a white flag, it means the incident needs first aid. First aiders are located at various points and are in radio contact with clerk of the course. Marshals also cover roles such as start / finish line and the spectator crossing near the bomb hole.

Marshals are normally at their allocated post about 10 minutes before the start of practice at 10.00am to end of the race meeting at 5.00pm, so it’s a long and intense day. Most of the ACU Eastern Marshals have been doing this for many years but they are always looking for new recruits if you fancy being a bit closer to the action.

Once again, a big thanks to them from the riders and also club officials. They certainly do a sterling job.
