SUMMER 2018
Rec-PAC, operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA), is a six-week, structured recreation program for elementary school children. Participants will enjoy activities such as fitness, indoor and outdoor games, team sports, nature, crafts, special events, talent shows and play sessions. Weekly activities will incorporate character building activities. A ratio of at least one staff person to 18 participants is our standard. Our enthusiastic leaders include college students and school teachers who bring a variety of skills.

Children who have completed kindergarten through those entering 7th grade and who are residents of Fairfax County, Fairfax City and Falls Church. Children with disabilities may attend any location or select one of the lower ratio sites (specialized inclusion sites with staff trained to support children with disabilities). How to Register
1. Review the Policies/Procedures statements.
2. Fill out the Rec-PAC 2018 Registration Form. Use aseparate registration form for each child. Signatureof parent or guardian is required at the bottom ofthe page.
3. Follow the directions for determining and identifying the registration fees and early registration discount.

• WEEKLY REGISTRATION: Beginning July 2,registration may be done only at Rec-PAC sites onMondays upon arrival.
• PAYMENT: Check, money order or credit cardonly. No cash or debit cards accepted. Make checkspayable to FCPA. Pre-registration or paying forseveral weeks at one time is highly recommendedto make registration easier.
• REFUNDS: Requests received prior to the startof a Rec-PAC session can be processed by phone,mail or fax. Once a session begins, refunds willbe given only for medical emergencies with adoctor’s certification. Absences and personalscheduling conflicts are not reimbursable. A $15processing fee per child, per week, will be appliedto all approved refunds. Approved refunds will becredited to your Parktakes member account.

Policies/Procedures PARTICIPATION: Rec-PAC is a drop-in program. Children can participate for the entire day or any portion of the day. Parents are responsible for the coming and going of their child. If a child leaves for any reason, he/she will no longer be the responsibility of FCPA. Parents must have alternative transportation arrangements in case of emergency, illness, or disciplinary actions. Rec-PAC hours are 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Parents arriving late will be charged $10 for every 15 minutes after 3:30 p.m. Fees are assessed after a 5 minute grace period.
BEHAVIORAL ISSUES: Parents and children must sign the “Rules of Conduct” before a child may enter the program. All participants enrolled must be able to demonstrate the following with minimal redirection: • Maintain personal care without the support of FCPA staff. • Stay with his/her assigned group • Respect others and maintain self-control at all times (keep
hands/feet to self, anger management, follow directions, use appropriate language).
FCPA reserves the right to terminate enrollment of any participant who does not comply with these rules. If property is destroyed or damaged, parents/guardians may be required to pay for repairs or replacement.
MEDICATIONS: Participants are not permitted to bring any medications to Rec-PAC except EpiPens and inhalers (separate authorization form required).
MEDICAL EMERGENCY: In the event of an emergency, and parents cannot be reached, FCPA employees have permission to contact the child’s physician and/or utilize rescue services to transport child to the nearest hospital at parent’s expense.
LIABILITY: By signing this form, parents recognize the risks inherent to participation in recreational activities and agree to hold harmless the FCPA, its officers and employees/volunteers from any and all claims from bodily injury and/or property damage which result from their child’s participation in all activities sponsored by the FCPA.
PHOTO RELEASE: By signing this form, parents grant permission for the use of activity photographs and/or videos of their child and without limitation, for use in connection with FCPA purposes.
PERMISSION: By signing this form, parents hereby grant permission for their child to participate in all activities, programs, special events, and walking/bus trips, including swimming, sponsored by FCPA.

Padres con trabajo durante el día deben considerar una transportación alternativa para su hijo en caso de emergencia, enfermedad o problemas disciplinarios. Los niños deben llegar y salir de la escuela de acuerdo al horario establecido en su sitio del campamento de verano (8:30am-3:30pm.) Padres que llegan tarde a recoger a sus hijos tendrán que pagar $10 por cada 15 minutos extra del horario permitido.
PROBLEMAS DEL COMPORTAMIENTO: Si las acciones de algún participante causan un daño a los otros participantes o a los empleados, el Condado de Fairfax tendrá el derecho de terminar la asistencia del mismo al programa de Rec-PAC. PUBLICACIÓN DE FOTOGRAFÍAS: Al firmar esta forma, los padres del participante otorgan permiso ilimitado para el uso de fotografías de actividad y/o videos de su niño, para uso en conexión con las necesidades de FCPA.
AUTORIZACIÓN: Al firmar esta forma, los padres otorgan permiso a su hijo/a a participar en toda actividad, programa, eventos especiales, y caminatas/viajes de autobus, incluyendo natación, esponsorado por FCPA.

About Partial Scholarships Becas Parciales A limited number of partial scholarships are available for Rec-PAC. Parents will only have to pay a $12 co-pay per week per child. Make a donation to the Fairfax County Park Foundation Rec-PAC Fund. The Rec-PAC Fund supports the critical activities of the summer program and provides scholarships to children eligible for free
Donate to and reduced price school meals. Because of a generous subsidy from the Park Authority, you could Rec-PAC provide a week of camp to a low-income child with a tax-deductible contribution of only $50.
A gift of any amount will help needy children, their parents and our entire community. The Park Scholarships Foundation will acknowledge all donations of $10 or more with a written confirmation of your tax-deductible contribution.
