Every week, we’ll have one of Santa’s helpers randomly draw TWO WINNING LETTERS that will be published in The Roanoke Times PLUS receive a TOY-STUFFED STOCKING. Simply find Santa’s Mailbox inside the City Market Building in Downtown Roanoke.
Winners will be randomly selected and notified by telephone. CAROLERS OF CHRISTMAS PASTBased out of Winston Salem, North Carolina, the Carolers of Christmas Past is an acapella quartet dressed in authentic Victorian costumes with an extensive repertoire of both traditional and holiday carols. Since 2001, their performances have included the North Carolina Governor’s Mansion, the White House in Washington, D.C., and an annual fixture at Dickens of a Christmas. GREENE MEMORIAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCHThe Greene Memorial United Methodist Church Choir leads in worship each Sunday and well as concerts and special services throughout the year, both in the church and community. Their repertoire covers a wide array of styles, from classical to contemporary vocal music, and consists of members ages high school through adult. THE ROANOKE VALLEY CHORAL SOCIETYThe Roanoke Valley Choral Society was formed in 1985 with the merger of the former Roanoke Valley Chorus and the Virginia Choral Society. SALSA NOKESalsa Noke is the first Latin dance instruction program and social organization in the Roanoke Valley. Created in February of 2010, Salsa Noke has quickly expanded from a few local individuals seeking a place to dance, to a community of hundreds. Sponsored by Downtown Roanoke, Inc., City of Roanoke, and the City of Roanoke Parks and Recreation Department, the tree lighting will be held on December 7th at Wells Fargo Plaza located on Salem Avenue. The ceremony will begin with a special performance by performance by Pilgrim Baptist Church Mass Choir 5:30 pm. WSLS NewsChannel 10’s countdown to the tree lighting will begin at 5:45pm with the actual lighting at 6:20pm

Costumed characters, strolling carolers, marching bands, jugglers, and numerous community groups all highlighting various holiday traditions are just a few of the unique things you will see filling up the streets as the City of Roanoke Christmas parade strolls through Downtown Roanoke. The parade route begins at the corner of Elm Avenue and Jefferson Street (Elmwood Park) and continues north on Jefferson Street to Campbell Avenue, then east on Campbell to Market Square.
RVSPCA’S PET COSTUME CONTEST FRIDAY, DEC. 21ST AT 6:30PM
The holidays aren’t just for humans! Dress your pet(s) in holiday outfits and come join the fun and laughter at the annual RVSPCA Pet Costume Contest. The fun-loving judging at Wells Fargo Plaza on Salem Avenue will be followed by great prizes for the winners.
