LINCOLNSHIREAGRICULTURAL SOCIETY

The objects of the Lincolnshire Agricultural society are: • To advance, promote and improve agricultural and

horticultural industries and associated trades, crafts and professions.

• The advancement of environmental protection and improvement through the encouragement of sustainable management of natural resources.

As a registered Charity the Society pursues these objects through a wide variety of activities, one of these being the annual Lincolnshire Show.

CANCELLATION STATEMENT There may be circumstances where the show has to be postponed, cancelled, abandoned or curtailed as a result of circumstances beyond the control of the Society, for example as a result of a security alert or as a result of inclement weather making it impractical to hold the Show. In such circumstances once any administration fees have been deducted, entry fees will be refunded. The Society will have no liability for loss or damage suffered by exhibitors or others.

Sheep, or Pigs and the specific conditions appearing below the Breed headings, thank you

Wednesday Evening Exhibitors’ Entertainment Once again, the Society will provide entertainment on the Wednesday evening in the Stockman’s Marquee. Additionally, there will also be entertainment provided in the Member’s Area on Wednesday evening.

MEMBERSHIP On the Livestock booking Form, an opportunity arises for each Member of the Lincolnshire Agricultural society to take advantage of reduced Livestock Entry Fees at the 133rd Lincolnshire Show, providing that Membership is held in the name of the owner of the entries to be made

The cost of Livestock Membership is £55 for a single membership and £84 for a joint membership.

Additional benefits of the society include access to the Member Facilities and passes for both days of the Show.

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR ALL LIVESTOCK EXHIBITORS

* The EU Welfare of Animals in Transport Regulation (EC) No 1/2005.

All exhibitors must ensure that they comply fully with the current legislation issued by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs regarding the above Transport Regulation which came into force in January 2007 and are able to provide the appropriate documentation at the Show to the relevant governing authority. For the purposes of this article, mammals shall not be considered fit for transport if they

(a) are unfit animals (see DEFRA website Annex 1 Chapter 1 of Council Regulation 1/2005).(b) are pregnant female animals that have reached the latest stage of gestation (within 10% of the estimated time of the gestation before birth) and for a period of one week after giving birth.(c) are very young animals except if the journey is less than 100 km, eg calves of less than 10 days of age, pigs less than 3 weeks of age and lambs of less than one week.(d) calves of less than 14 days of age on journeys exceeding 8 hours will not be permitted.

The LINCOLNSHIRE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY will present an award to the STOCK ATTENDANT responsible for the preparation and exhibition of the animal judged Breed Supreme Champion in the Cattle, Sheep, and Pig sections. These will be presented at 6.30 pm on Wednesday 21st June in the Showmans Marquee.

CATTLE

Lincolnshire Agricultural Society’s County Parish Holding Number is 24/654/8003

RESPONSIBILITY

A. Please ensure that you are aware of DEFRA information regarding cattle Movements and Health regulations. It is your responsibility to keep up to date with any change of policies/legislation etc.

B. All Livestock Exhibitors should ensure that they have adequate Public Liability Insurance Cover. All exhibitors are responsible for the observance by themselves, their employees, representatives or contractors of all Health & Safety at Work Regulations.

C. Smoking is NOT PERMITTED in any of the livestock lines and neighbouring areas.

D. Bovine Tuberculosis: Where a herd is subject to 12-monthly TB testing and so must undergo pre-movement TB testing, please bring a copy of the results with you to the Show. Please observe the current DEFRA regulations regarding pre and post-movement TB Testing.

CATTLE ENTRIES will be accepted on the following basis:

· Each animal may only be entered for one Cattle Class. However, this animal may then go into the relevant section’s Pairs/Group Class(es). Please ensure that you enter all Pair/Group classes (marked with the suffix ‘*’) in advance of the Show, no on-the-day entries will be accepted. All entries are of course, eligible for any Special and Championship Classes which may be offered in each section.

· The Closing date for entries is Wednesday 26th April. Substitute and additional entries WILL NOT be accepted after this date.

. Every animal entered MUST be the property of the Exhibitor and its Passport MUST be in the Name of the Exhibitor. Transfer of Ownership Documentation must be completed before the Show.

. LAS Membership must be held in the name of the Exhibitor (i.e. the Owner) to qualify for Membership Discount.

1. Entries are required to arrive on the Showground by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 20th June, and must remain until 5 p.m. on Thursday 22nd June. (Exception - Commercial Beef entries to arrive before 4 p.m. Tuesday.)

2. All animals must be accustomed to being tied or haltered and exhibitors will be responsible for presenting them.

3. Where an entry is found to be entered in the wrong class it will be transferred automatically.

Reminder for ALL CATTLE Exhibitors from Trading Standards. CATTLE must be tagged in accordance with the Cattle

Identification Regulations 1998. (Failure to do so may result in the animal being sent home).

The general conditions and regulations of the Show also apply to this section.

4. The Society reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry or class and will automatically cancel any class in which there are insufficient entries. The Society also reserves the right to restrict entries if numbers exceed those which can be adequately dealt with.

5. Exhibitors entering cattle in more than one breed section must indicate the number of stalls required per breed on the Booking Form. All animals belonging to one exhibitor will stand in their respective breed lines.

6. All Commercial Cattle must be housed in the Commercial Cattle Lines.

7. Where cows are entered with a calf at foot the exhibitor is required to book two standings and include the Calf date of birth and ear tag details on the entry form.

8. Due to a limited number of stalls available, please only book a maximum of one kit pen per exhibitor.

9. All cattle must be paraded in accordance with the instructions of the Honorary Director and Stewards in a safe and responsible manner. Any Exhibitor not parading some of their cattle in the Grand Parade will forfeit any prize money. Bulls must be paraded with two handlers in the Grand Parade. All cattle forward in the Grand Parade on Thursday 22nd June will receive a £5 Forward Payment Voucher to be redeemed at the ICE Bank.

10. Nobody under the age of 16 may be in charge of an animal in the Grand Parade.

11. Prizes will be awarded according to the number of entries forward at the time of judging.

The Lincolnshire Show Team Award organised by The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society. This competition which will be judged in the

cattle lines, will cover such aspects as presentation and welfare of cattle, cleanliness of lines, marketing and promotion of the herd and the owner’s staff associated with each herd. ALL Pure-Bred Beef, Commercial and Dairy Cattle Exhibitors are eligible. The

winners will be announced during the Inter-Breed Competitions at 10.00 hrs. on Thursday.

YOUNG BEEF CATTLE HANDLING COMPETITION

Judging will take place on Thursday 22nd June at 10.00 hours

Conditions:1. Only Heifers/Steers born in 2016 entered in the Pure Breed or

Commercial Beef Classes are to be used in this class, no bulls are permitted under any circumstances. Please note that the animal should match the size of the Handler.

2. In these classes it is the handler that is judged and not the animal. Normal showing attire must be worn during judging. No rosettes to be displayed in the ring.

3. Owners of the cattle must ensure that the young person is capable of controlling the animal being shown.

4. The judge has the authority to ask any exhibitor not having sufficient control of his/her animal to leave the ring.

No entry fee, entries to be made on Show days. A sign up sheet will be displayed at the Livestock Office in the Livestock Lines.

Malpractice:

Any artificial contrivance or device of any description found on or proved to have been used on an animal at any time whilst that animal is in the Showground, either for preventing the flow of milk or for any other improper purpose, will disqualify that animal from being awarded a prize, and any prize awarded prior to discovery will be forfeited. The Instigator or The Owner of the said animal may be prohibited from again entering Stock for any of the Society’s Shows, for such period as the Committee may see fit. For the purpose of this Regulation, the term ‘improper practice’ shall be held to include setting of teats, and generally any other practice including tampering or of their own or any other animal by the exhibitor or any other person which results in the animals being shown other than in a natural state, and the Society reserves the right to have all animals inspected by the Society’s Veterinary Officers, either prior to, during, or after judging.

The general conditions and regulations of the Show also apply to this section.

The Society will not tolerate the administration to show exhibits of tranquillisers or other drugs which may in any way affect the performance of the animal in question to have the effect of making it behave in the show ring in a manner which is not natural. The Society reserves the right to take any necessary samples. Any Person or Exhibitor (or his representative) who is found to have administered or permitted the administration of any such tranquilliser or drugs to any Show exhibit will be reported to the Organising Committee, and dealt with at their discretion. In addition the matter will be referred to the appropriate Breed Society or Organisation.

Any Exhibitor wishing to lodge an objection, having reference to Livestock exhibited at this Show. Please see condition 24 in the regulations at the back of this schedule. If, on investigation, the objection is not sustained to the satisfaction of the Committee, the sum thus deposited shall, at the discretion of the Committee, be forfeited to the funds of the Society. All objections must be lodged within two hours of when the alleged incident occurred in accordance with the objection regulations, and no objection will be SUBSEQUENTLY received, unless a reason, satisfactory to the Committee be assigned for the delay.

SHEEP ENTRIES will be accepted on the following basis:

• Entries close on the 26th April 2017. Late entries will not be accepted and entries in all sections will be subject to space, accommodation and availability.

• Each animal may only be entered for one Sheep Class, however, this animal may then go into a Group Class and the Wool on the Hoof classes (entries for this must be made in advance of the Show). All entries are of course eligible for Special and Championship Classes which may be offered.

• Covered accommodation will be provided for all SHEEP. MV Accredited and Non-MV Scheme sheep will be housed in separate open sided marquees and have separate judging rings.

• For animals of MV Accredited status, please mark MV on the sheep entry form and a photocopy of the current SAC Certificate of status should be forwarded with your entries as confirmation. The green certificate of Status, listing details of the animals entered must accompany yours animals to the Show and presented on arrival.

LAMB CARCASE COMPETITION

Judging will take place on Tuesday 20th June

1. Carcases will be housed in a special National Sheep Association refrigerated display unit with limited capacity, exhibitors will therefore be restricted to TWO entries and on a strict date of receipt of entry.

2. Entries must be delivered to A Wright & Son (The Abattoir, Nursery Rd, Riverside Industrial Estate, Boston, Lincolnshire PE21 7PJ. Tel: 01205 368032) on the morning of Monday 19th June 2017. SHEEP must be booked in to arrive between 7 & 8 am.

3. Parentage must be shown on the entry form.4. If any part of the carcase or liver of a lamb slaughtered should

be condemned the entry will be disqualified.5. All carcases will be bought and paid for by the Society’s

appointed slaughterers at the agreed market price. Cheques will be forwarded by the Society to exhibitors after the Show.

6. The class weights will be determined at the discretion of the Stewards, depending on weights of entries forward. Entries with a deadweight in excess of 23kgs may have penalty points deducted at the discretion of the Judge.

Conditions1. A competitor may enter any number of the classes, but can

only submit two fleeces per class.2. For the purpose of the competition the fleeces must be

neatly rolled and submitted in bags.3. The bag must be labelled by the competitor. Each label must

show clearly: Name of Competitor Address of Competitor Class entered Breed or Cross ONE LABEL should be placed inside the container; THE

OTHER secured on the outside.4. All exhibits must be delivered to the Steward of the section

by 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday 20th June, or they will be too late for competition. Exhibits should not arrive before 20th June, and should be removed from the Showground between 4.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. on Thursday 22nd June. The Society will not be responsible for the safe delivery or keeping of the fleeces. Any fleeces not collected will be disposed of.

5. If there are fewer than 5 entries for any particular class the number of prizes awarded will be at the judge’s discretion.

6. Fleeces that are artificially stained or artificially coloured or fastened with any form of twine will be eliminated.

7. The competition will be judged on a points system and the decision of the Judge is final.

8. It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that fleeces are entered in the correct class. The Judge will judge a fleece in the most appropriate class.

9. Fleeces must be from the 2017 wool clip.

YOUNG SHEEP HANDLER COMPETITIONJudge: TBC TBC

This class will take place on Thursday 22nd June, after the Inter-breed Sheep Classes.

It is a condition of entry that children should only handle animals where they have the necessary strength and experience to cope with the said animal. Children must always be under the supervision of and accompanied by a competent adult, and the animal should match the size of the handler.

All Lambs or Sheep must be halter trained and must have been shown in the breed classes at this Show. Handlers must be aged between 5 and 16 years old.

Children under the age of 5 will not be allowed to compete.

Classes will be judged on the Handlers ability. Handlers to be suitably dressed for the breed that they are leading. Entries accepted on the day, no entry fee required. Rosettes to all competitors.

Animals registered in a Grading Register of a Herd Book are not eligible for entry in Agricultural Show Classes.

The ear number, registered name, Herd Book number and date of birth of each pig, also the name and Herd Book number of sire and dam, must be supplied for printing in the catalogue together with the name of the breeder in cases where the exhibitor is not also the breeder.

Any pig whose ear number cannot be read or whose ear number does not correspond to that in the Show Catalogue will not be allowed to compete in any of the classes.

2. At all Shows in 2017, female pigs (all breeds) born before 1st January 2016 shall be eligible to compete only if in the six calendar months prior to the Show they have farrowed, suckled and reared to four weeks of age, a litter of pigs.

3. Female pigs born on or after 1st January 2016 and before 1st July 2016 (BERKSHIRE, BRITISH LANDRACE, GLOUCESTERSHIRE OLD SPOTS, HAMPSHIRE, LARGE WHITE, MIDDLE WHITE, OXFORD SANDY & BLACK and PIETRAIN breeds ONLY), shall have either produced and reared a litter of pigs within six months prior to the show or produced a LIVE litter within twelve weeks of the first day of the Show.

Female pigs of the BRITISH SADDLEBACK, DUROC and LARGE BLACK breeds born on or after 1st January 2016 and before 1st March 2016 shall have farrowed and suckled a litter of pigs prior to the Show. Females born on or after 1st March and before 1st July 2016 shall farrow within twelve weeks of the first day of the Show.

Female pigs of the TAMWORTH breed only born on or after 1st January 2016 and before 1st July 2016 shall either have farrowed, suckled and reared a litter prior to the Show or produce a live litter within six weeks of the 1st of July.

Female pigs of the WELSH breed born on or after 1st January 2016 and before 1st March 2016 shall have farrowed and suckled a litter of pigs prior to the Show. Females born on or after 1st March and before 1st July 2016 shall farrow before, or within eight weeks after the first day of the Show.

4. Boars of two years of age and over (all breeds) are to be certified as having sired at least three live litters within the twelve months preceding the date on which entries for the Show close. The pigs comprising such litters are to have been litter notified in the British Pig Association’s Herd Book or proof of their birth must have been given to the Association.

5. Boars aged twelve months or more at the time of exhibition, must have their tusks cut prior to the Show.

6. All boars must be shown by two competent adult handlers who are equipped with protective boards.

7. The use of artificial colouring, whitening and/or powder on pigs as well as the removal or addition of spots by artificial means is prohibited (white woodflour is permitted).

“B.P.A. Pig Of The Year Competition”

1. Qualifying rounds will be arranged at Agricultural Shows, leading to a Final.

2. A condition of entering the competition is that prize winners at preliminary rounds must intend to exhibit at the Final.

3. The award is open to all breeds of pedigree pigs entered in this Show. The object is to determine the best modern and traditional breed pigs as an example of their respective breeds.

4. All animals entered in this Competition must be the property of a member of the British Pig Association or the British Lop Society and must be registered in a Herdbook of the British Pig Association or The British Lop Pig Society.

5. To be eligible for a qualifying round a pig (male or female) must be born on or after 1st July of the year previous to the Show (see 7 below).

A pig judged Best Male (Modern or Traditional) or Best Female (Modern or Traditional) in a qualifying round cannot compete in any subsequent round. If a pig having qualified at an earlier show again qualifies at a later show the judge for that breed shall select an alternative pig of the same breed and sex from any class covering the required age group.

6. Where a single breed has more than one class covering the required age group for either sex, so permitting more than one 1st prize animal, the judge must nominate one of these for the qualifying round.

7. Where there are multi-breed classes, i.e. any other modern/any other traditional breed or a similar classification, the judge must nominate the best male and best female of the qualifying age of each breed represented (regardless of class prizes). These pigs will compete in the qualifying round with eligible entries from individual breed classes.

8. At each qualifying round the judge will select the Best Male from a Modern Breed, Best Male from a Traditional Breed, Best Female from a Modern Breed, Best Female from a Traditional Breed, Best Pig and Reserve Best Pig.

9. The Best Males (Modern and Traditional) and Best Females (Modern and Traditional) from each of the qualifying rounds will qualify for the Final to be held at the Great Yorkshire Show.

10. The Final will be to judge the Best Modern Male and Female with Reserves and the Best Traditional Male and Female with Reserves; the Best Pig (i.e. Pig of the Year) and Reserve.

11. In the Final at Great Yorkshire Show the Modern and Traditional Male and Female Champions will each receive £60, Reserve Champions £30. Overall Champion £200 and The Geoffrey Cloke Memorial Salver, and Reserve £150

12. A travel allowance of 10p per mile will be paid by the Great Yorkshire Show to exhibitors attending the Final.

11. In the Final the Male and Female Champions will each receive £120, Reserve Champions £60, overall Champion £200 and a glass trophy, and Reserve £150.

Conditions for Bacon Carcase Competition1. Entries are restricted to two per exhibitor. Animals must be

the bona fide property of Exhibitors and entries will not be accepted from Quality Bacon Associations. Members of such Associations must enter Pigs individually.

2. Pigs accepted for the Competition must be within the kill-out weight of between 60 and 83 kgs. Pigs that are not within the specified weight may be displayed in the Competition Tent but will not be judged in the competition. (Exhibitors attention is particularly drawn to this condition).

3. The Society or the Curers can accept no responsibility for any damage or condemnation, either during transit or after slaughter resulting in any carcase being unable to be cured and thus eliminated from the competition.

4. The following information will be required: (a) Breed/Cross of Pigs and Breed of Sire and Dam. (b) B.P.A. exhibitors are required to give the Ear No. and date

of Birth. These details will be requested before the pigs have been

despatched to the bacon factory.5. Pigs will be cured by A. W. Curtis & Sons Ltd., - slaughtering

details and date to be confirmed. Of the carcases entered in the Competition up to 20 carcases will be selected for display and judging at the Lincolnshire Show, with discretion to exclude any carcase that would not make satisfactory exhibition bacon.

6. All pigs should be tattooed on producers premises with a tattoo slap mark as usual AND an additional mark on the LEG, FLANK & SHOULDER of BOTH SIDES to ensure that the whole carcase can readily be identified during and after CURING as a COMPETITION ENTRANT. Where TWO pigs are entered from the same producer, do ensure that the extra mark used is pig specific, thank you.

White coats or approved Breed Society uniform must be worn during judging and by those taking part in the Grand Parade. Livestock Vehicle PassesExhibitors will be issued with passes to permit their vehicles conveying livestock to enter the Showground, via the BLUE GATE Entrance 3. Each Exhibitor should ensure that he/she receives sufficient vehicle passes to cover his/her requirements. Such vehicles must be parked in the space provided immediately after delivery of the stock and remain there throughout the Show.Livestock VehiclesExhibitor’s vehicles must be externally clean. The Society has the right to refuse entry to any vehicle deemed not to be clean. No Livestock Vehicles will be permitted to remain within the Showground area once stock has been off loaded. Once vehicles have been cleansed and disinfected they will be directed to a special parking area and will be required to remain parked there until 5.00 p.m. on Thursday 22nd June. This parking area is situated within easy reach of the Cattle Lines and those stock attendants using wagons for accommodation during the Show will not be inconvenienced in attending to their stock.

6. Arrival & Departure (via Gate 3, BLUE GATE)Livestock to arrive on the Showground by 6 p.m. on Tuesday 20th June, and must remain until 5 p.m. on Thursday 22nd June. Admittance of livestock on the Wednesday of Show is strictly prohibited. Exceptions:Commercial Beef and Commercial Lambs to arrive before 4 p.m. on Tuesday 20th June (Cows and Heifers in milk must be stripped dry on the Showground after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 20th June.) A.M.L. Forms (Animal Movement License Forms) to be handed in on arrival at the inner showground gate, Blue Gate Entrance. Departure A.M.L. Forms to be collected by the LAS Animal Movements Team on Thursday 22nd June (or handed in to the Livestock Registration Office at the end of the Main Cattle lines) All cattle to be

accompanied to and from Show by their Cattle Passport. (Stewards to collect on Tuesday and return prior to departure on Thursday) The information will be scanned and sent to B.C.M.S.

7. Straw & FodderThe Society will supply a limited quantity of straw. ALL FODDER must be provided by the Exhibitor.

8. Livestock AccommodationCovered accommodation will be provided for all Livestock. Exhibitors must keep the livestock lines clean and tidy (free from faeces) at all times.

9. Cleansing and DisinfectingThere are cleansing and disinfecting facilities for interior of vehicles on the Showground.

10. CaravansThere will be a special area set aside on the Showground for the accommodation of the caravans belonging to Stock Exhibitors, which will be as close as possible to the Livestock Lines. The charge for the Show period will be £30.00 (incl. VAT). As only limited space will be available, bookings will be accepted strictly on a first come first served basis. Failure to apply for the appropriate pass will result in the caravan being admitted (upon payment of £48.00) at the discretion of the Stewards, for the duration of the Show. It is strongly recommended that Caravans are fitted with both Fire and Carbon Monoxide Alarms in good working order. GENERATORS - The use of generators to provide power to caravans is banned between the hours of 11.00p.m. and 5.00 a.m. in the interests of the comfort and convenience of all exhibitors.

11. Stock Attendant’s ClothingAny person tending animals or handling animal products must wear suitable footwear and protective outer clothing which can be cleansed and disinfected.

12. DogsDogs must be kept on non-retractable leads at all times while on the Showground.

14. OwnershipEvery exhibit must be the bona-fide property of the Exhibitor at the time of entry. Every animal at the Show must be exhibited in the name of the person who entered it and whose name appears in the Catalogue. This does not prevent an animal being sold after entry provided it is exhibited in the name of the person who entered it.

15. Membership Advantage (Lincolnshire Agricultural Society)Exhibitors (i.e. Owners) who are not members of the Society will be required to pay entry fees at non-members rates. Non-members wishing to become members of the Society may do so by paying the current year’s subscription and may then submit entries at Member Rates. No member being in arrears with his/her subscription may make entries at the Show or exhibit as a non-subscriber. Any entry inadvertently accepted from a Member who is in arrears with his/her subscription may be cancelled and the fee paid returned. Membership must be held in the Owners Name, and at the Owners Address. Membership Advantage cannot be used in the name of a spouse, relative or other related party.

16. Veterinary InspectionAnimals entered for exhibition may be subjected to Veterinaryinspection by the Society’s Veterinary Surgeon. The Veterinary Surgeons shall be empowered to expel from the Showground any animal, which in their opinion is suffering from or affected with any contagious or infectious disease likely to prove harmful to other animals, or, any animal which in their opinion is unfit for exhibition. The Veterinary Surgeons shall issue a certificate recording their findings. The Society reserves the right, of its Stewards and appointed Veterinary Surgeon, to take blood samples at random, for subsequent analysis, from any animal exhibited at the Show. Exhibitors shall be liable to pay the Society a sum not exceeding £50 as and for liquidating damages, in respect of each animal expelled under the above clauses.

17. Veterinary Emergency TreatmentIt is a condition of Entry that the Society’s Veterinary officers may on their own authority give to any animal such emergency treatment as they may consider appropriate in the event that the owner or his/her representative cannot immediately be found.

18. Veterinary ChargesShould Veterinary treatment be required at Show, a charge may be made by the Society’s Veterinary Officers attending the animal(s).

19. ParadesIt shall be a condition of entry that all prize winning cattle shall be exhibited or paraded in accordance with the instructions of the Honorary Director and Stewards and at the times stated in the official programme. An Exhibitor or his servants failing to comply with this regulation shall forfeit all prize money. The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society is very proud of the Grand Parade, with all sections parading their 1st and 2nd exhibits. In addition, ALL Exhibitors are requested to parade, if not, prize money may be deducted. All Handlers are required to wear smart dress and white smocks for parades, excepting Dairy Exhibitors who must wear white attire.

20. Cloths or RugsThe erection of sheeting in the Cattle buildings, whether round cattle or spare stalls is strictly prohibited.

21. AwardsThe judges may withhold any prize or prizes if in their opinion the exhibits in any Class do not possess sufficient merit. Prize money vouchers are to be redeemed on the day of Show. The LAS accepts no liability for lost prize money vouchers.

22. Challenge TrophiesAll Challenge Trophies and Cups offered shall be held by the Winner for one year or until requested to return the same to the Society or the Society’s appointed agents. The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society does not engrave trophies. It is the winners responsibility to engrave a trophy should they wish to. Please use a font and size consistent with any president set.

23. MalpracticeAn Exhibitor who shall attempt to obtain a prize by means of a false declaration or by any unlawful prohibited or unfair means shall have all awards made to him/her cancelled, and shall be disqualified from exhibition at future Shows of the Society.

24. ProtestsAny protest must be lodged in writing within two hours of the completion of judging of the relevant breed, together with a deposit of £50 and handed in to the Show Secretary’s Office. If on investigation the protest is not sustained to the satisfaction of the Honorary Show Director and Stewards of the Section concerned or if the said protest shall prove to be frivolous the person so protesting shall forfeit his/her deposit.

25. Observance of RegulationsCOMPLIANCE WITH GOVERNMENT AND LOCAL AUTHORITY REGULATIONS AND ALL CODES OF PRACTICE.All Shows, Exhibitions and Events organised by the Society on the Showground or elsewhere are subject to any relevant Orders issued by Government Departments and Local Authorities, and all Codes of practice, with which all exhibitors and others attending such Shows, Exhibitions must comply. For example: Health & Safety Regulations at Agricultural Shows. Health & Safety Executive Guidance Note GS36: Safe Custody and Handling of Bulls at agricultural shows, markets and similar premises off the farm.

26. Liabilitya) The Society and its officers shall not be responsible for any person whatsoever while upon the Society’s premises, or while entering and leaving the same, for any damage or loss however caused to the property of any such person or for any injury, fatal or otherwise, to any such person.b) The Society and its officers shall not be responsible for any accident, damage or loss however caused that may occur to any exhibitor or his servant or to any animal, article, or property exhibited or brought onto the Showground by him. Each exhibitor shall indemnify the Society from and against all actions, suits expenses or claims on account of or in respect of any such damage or injury however caused.c) The Society will not under any circumstance accept liability for any loss or damage (whether direct or indirect) arising from or caused by the abandonment or cancellation, whether total or partial, or the postponement of any show, display, event, meeting or other happening on the Showground or elsewhere for whatever reason.d) The Society reserves the right to postpone, cancel, abandon or curtail any show, display, event, meeting, happening or otherwise to be held on the Showground or elsewhere if under the auspices of the Society. Where the decision to postpone, cancel abandon or curtail any show, display, event, meeting, happening or otherwise arises from directives, happenings outside the control of the Society, the Society will refund entry fees, once any administration fees have been deducted. The Society will not be under any liability for any loss or damage (whether direct or indirect, consequential or otherwise) arising from or caused by a postponement, cancellation, abandonment, curtailment or otherwise.EXHIBITORS ARE REQUIRED TO ARRANGE APPROPRIATEINSURANCE COVER.

27. Health & Safetya) It is the responsibility of all exhibitors to comply with any Health and Safety requirements placed on them whilst competing at the Show.b) In the case of led cattle/sheep/pigs it is imperative that exhibitors/stockpersons are aware of their obligation to the safety of the general public at all times whilst on the Showground and observe orders from Officials or Stewards, in respect of crossing points etc.

The Cattle lines will be open to the general public at certain times, these times will be stated at the entrance to the Cattle lines, at the Show.c) Nobody under the age of 16 may be in charge of an animal in the Grand Parade. All those taking part in the Grande Parade must do so in a responsible manner, and take due care and consideration to all parties involved in the Parade.d) Any exhibitor who fails to comply with health and safety or fire safety legislation may be liable to enforcement action by the West Lindsey District Council Environmental Health Officer and/or the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Fire Safety Officer.

CATTLE28. Cattle Health

All Cattle exhibited must be from herds which are free of Tuberculosis, Brucellosis and EBL and which are not under movement restrictions imposed by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for these or any other notifiable diseases.

29. Abortions and Premature calvingsNo animal likely to calve during the period of the Show may be exhibited. Animals which calve, or show evidence of calving, whilst at the showground, must be placed in the approved isolation accommodation pending their possible early removal from the showground. Where an animal calves prematurely, or aborts, the DVM, DEFRA must be informed immediately. The animal must be placed in isolation in the approved accommodation, and the full range of samples (including if at all possible a placental smear) should be taken. The animal will not be allowed to take part further in the show and once it is fit to travel, can be returned home to the registered premises or alternatively retained until the end of the show in isolation and returned with the other competing cattle from the same premises.All other bovine animals from the same registered premises will not be allowed to compete further in the Show until negative results from certain tests carried out by a Veterinary Laboratory Centre have been received. They can be returned with the suspect animal at the completion of the Show.

30. RegistrationAll cattle must be entered or registered for entry in the Herd Book, Appendix to the herd Book, or supplementary Register of their respective breed Society or Association, in accordance with the conditions of entry, for each breed shown beneath the respective Breed headings.

31. Definition of a HeiferFor the purpose of this Schedule a heifer is a female, which has not calved or aborted more than once, nor calved and aborted. (Except the class for a team of three in the Inter-Breed beef competition -maiden heifer.)

32. FakingCattle found to be artificially coloured or in any way faked at anytime whilst on the Showground shall be disqualified.

33. Nurse CowsNo accommodation will be provided for Nurse Cows which willnot be permitted to enter the Showground.

34. Milking OutThe Judges may at their discretion order that all or any of the cows or heifers be milked-out in the Judging Ring before awarding prizes.

35. MilkDairy exhibitors are responsible for keeping the milking area clean. Owing to escalating costs with the disposal of raw milk, there is no Milk Payment.

36. Transfer to appropriate Class.Cows and heifers entered as in-calf and having calved or entered as in-milk and not having calved before the Show may be transferred to the appropriate class if provided.

37. CalvesCalves older than 9 months of age on the day of the show are not eligible to be shown in Cow or Heifer with Calf at foot classes

38. Refund of EntriesStalls booked may be cancelled and half the relevant fees refunded, if WRITTEN notification is received before 5 p.m. on FRIDAY 12th May 2017.

39. PrizesChampionships and Special Prizes given by the Breed Societies may only be awarded to members of those Societies.

40. InspectionsAll entries and property of participants are subject to inspection by LAS Officials. Participants shall deliver on request, to an LAS Official, any device, material or substance on the possession or control of the Participant, agent, or persons acting on his or her behalf for the purpose of inspection to laboratory analysis.

41. Administration of SubstancesPermission must be gained from one of the LAS AppointedVeterinary Surgeons before administering any drug to an Animal. In such cases Participants will be required to notify an LAS Official of the animals identification number, the drugs name, the volume of the drug administered, the batch number and expiry date, the person who administered the drug and the date and time of administration.

42. Penalties for EnforcementIf the LAS finds a participant to have violated the above rules or been guilty of Malpractice, the LAS has the power to disqualify participants from the Lincolnshire Show and from future Shows. Prize Money from the Show may also be forfeit. Penalties for violation are at the absolute discretion of the LAS, and the decision of the LAS is final.

SHEEP43. Accommodation

Covered accommodation will be provided for all sheep. All animals in the same Breed belonging to one Exhibitor will stand together. Exhibitors or Maedi-Visna Accredited Sheep must indicate their status on the Booking Form, a copy of the appropriate certificate should be sent with entries and an original Green Certificate to be presented upon arrival at the Show. Signs will be erected indicating the unloading points for both Maedi-Visna and Non-scheme sheep. Exhibitors of Maedi-Visna sheep must ensure that their animals are accompanied by the Green S.A.C. Certificate of Status (with valid expiry date). Unloading of Maedi-Visna sheep must not take place until the appropriate certificate is produced for inspection by the responsible Society official. At all times during the Show it is essential that there should be no contact between any sheep in the two categories.

44. ScrapieThe Lincolnshire Show is a DEFRA approved Scrapie monitored event. Scrapie monitored stock may be exhibited without loss of Scrapie monitored status. Exhibitors are required to sign a Declaration that female sheep entered and exhibited are non-pregnant and have not lambed or aborted within 30 days of their arrival at the Show and are not subject to procedures which change the seasonal breeding pattern.

45. Flock Book EntryAll sheep entered in the Breed classes must be from flocks registered in the Flock Book of their Breed and shall be marked and/or shorn in accordance with the rules of their respective Breed Societies.

46. FakingAny sheep found to have been artificially coloured or faked with a view to deceiving the judges will be disqualified.

47. EwesNursing ewes are not eligible for entry.

48. External ParasitesThe prevention/control of external parasites on sheep being brought to the Showground must be undertaken in accordance with any DEFRA regulations at the time of Show.

49. Short-tail docking of LambsThe attention of exhibitors is drawn to the Welfare of livestock (prohibited operations) Regulations 1982 and the requirement that tail docked sheep should retain sufficient tail to cover the anus in the case of males and the vulva in the case of females.

PIGS50. Entries

Exhibitors’ entries will be accepted on the following basis. Payment will be per pig and per pen (approx. 8’ x 6’ space). A maximum of 2 pigs are allowed per pen.

51. RegistrationAll pigs entered in the Breed classes must be entered or accepted for entry in the herd book (as distinct from grading register) of their respective Breeds, and shall be ear-marked in accordance with the rules of the Breed.

52. AccommodationCovered accommodation will be provided for all pigs. Each pig must be placed in the pen provided and may not be moved without the Steward’s permission. All animals belonging to one exhibitor will stand in adjacent pens in their respective Breed Sections.

53. DentitionAll Pigs exhibited may be subjected to an examination of their mouths by the Veterinary Inspector of the Society and should the state of dentition upon such examination indicate that the age of any Animal as stated on the Entry Form, does not agree with the accepted rules of Dentition, the Stewards shall have power to disqualify such pigs, and shall report the circumstances to the Council. The following is the state of Dentition of pigs which will be considered as indicating that they exceed the ages specified:-6 MONTHS - Pigs having their corner permanent incisors cut, will be considered as exceeding this age.9 MONTHS - Pigs having their permanent tusks more than half up will be considered as exceeding this age.12 MONTHS - Pigs having their central permanent incisors up and any of the three first permanent molars cut will be considered as exceeding this age.

15 MONTHS - Pigs having their lateral temporary incisors shed and the permanents appearing will be considered as exceeding this age.18 MONTHS - Pigs having their lateral permanent incisors fully up will be considered as exceeding the age.

54. FakingThe use of artificial colouring, whitening and/or powder, the removal of hair, surplus teats or the removal or addition of spots by artificial means, or any other abnormal practice on pigs is prohibited.55. Boarsa) Boars of two years of age and over to be certified to have sired at least three live litters within the twelve months preceding the date on which entries for the Show close, the pigs comprising such litters to have been notified for registration in the Herd Book or proof of their birth to have been given to the B.P.A.b) Boars will not be allowed in the Judging Rings unless the accompanying stockperson carries a protective shield supplied by the exhibitor.c) Boars exceeding 15 months of age must have had their tusks cut in the year of and prior to exhibition at the Show; they must also be accompanied in the Show Ring by TWO competent handlers, each carrying a protective board. Exhibitors failing to comply with these handling requirements may be disqualified by the Chief Steward.

56. PrizesSpecial and Championship prizes given by the B.P.A. will only be awarded to members of that Association or to Members of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust who record the relevant breeds with the B.P.A.By order of theExecutive CommitteeThe Officers, Executive Committee, Show Committee and Council of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society have endeavoured to ensure the correctness of the particulars printed in the Schedule but will not accept responsibility for any error or mistake which may appear herein.
