STUDYING AT CQUNIVERSITYCAREER PREPARATIONWe are committed to ensuring that our graduates have the skills, competence and connections needed to build a successful career. Our courses are developed alongside industry to ensure that you gain up-to-date and relevant knowledge to prepare you for a seamless entry into the workforce. Many contain different forms of work integrated learning and/or are accredited by professional bodies in Australia and overseas.

INTERNSHIPS

In 2015, to meet the increasing demands of employers for work-ready graduates, we introduced 8 – 10 week internships in selected business and information technology courses. During the internship you will not be required to undertake any units in class, so you can fully concentrate on getting the most from the experience. We will continue to build on this success by embedding this opportunity in more courses. For more information visit www.cqu.edu.au/internships.

DISTANCE EDUCATIONWe offer a wide range of courses completely by distance education. As you are not required to attend regular classes on campus, you will have more flexibility to study at your own pace at home, work or wherever you can access the Internet. Apart from the flexibility, you will also benefit from:

» our strong track record in offering quality distance education courses to thousands of students

» our five star rating for Online/Distance learning (QS StarsTM 2015)

» access to advanced online learning technologies and specialist staff

» full-time or part-time study load, and

» save over AU$18 000 per year on living expenses (based on the Department of Immigration and Border Protection’s financial requirements).

STUDENT SUPPORTWe offer an extensive range of support services in academic studies, career preparation and personal welfare including multi-faith and disability services, to help you reach your academic goals and enjoy your time at university. Our Campus Life Committee aims to build a healthy relationship between students and staff on each campus, and regularly organises social events ranging from cultural celebrations, sporting activities and end of term parties. ❛ CQUniversity is a very special place for me. I have made so many amazing friends from various countries, which makes my life here more interesting. Studying at CQUniversity has helped me to gain skills, knowledge and networking opportunities. Working as an International Student Ambassador with the International Directorate has enriched my work experience and provided me with a better understanding of the Australian workplace. In addition, CQUniversity encourages students to get involved in social innovation through engagements with industry, community and government. This provides more opportunities for me to discover what I really want to be. ❜

DI ZHANG, CHINAMaster of Professional Accounting

❛ I completed my degree in electrical engineering and furthered my study with an MBA because I believe that the combined knowledge in both fields will give me a competitive edge in the industry. CQUniversity was my obvious choice as it was offering the MBA at a reasonable tuition fee. I have been actively involved with the University’s Campus Life Committee where we work to increase student participation and engagement. I also work casually for the University as a Social Ambassador, where I organise social events on campus, as well as an International Student Ambassador, where I provide administrative marketing support. All these experiences outside the classroom are quintessential, allowing me to learn, be challenged and meet people from different cultures. I am delighted that I have chosen the right university, and I believe better things are waiting once I graduate. I urge anyone looking to study at undergraduate level or postgraduate level to join CQUniversity. The opportunities are immense. ❜

PATHWAY OPTIONS

❛ I was fascinated by what I had learnt in classes during my studies and by what CQUniversity offered, especially the provision of practical learning, small class environment and the quality academic support. Upon graduation, I could directly apply the gained knowledge in a real business environment in my role as the International Recruitment Executive with CQUniversity’s International Directorate. After a few rewarding years, I left the University to launch a high-end bike component brand, AITA Ceramic. I believe it is the learning and working environment which CQUniversity had provided that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and confidence to pursue this unique business idea. My vision is to operate this business worldwide in the near future. ❜

YOUR JOURNEY

❛ Studying in Australia was my dream. I decided to finally pursue this dream with CQUniversity because of the recommendations from my cousin who is a CQUniversity alumnus. The course I chose provides me with relevant knowledge and practical study cases. Apart from the great academics, CQUniversity provides a wonderful environment. It also provides exposure to many job opportunities, and a perfect platform for me to gain local ‘Aussie’ experience through travelling, sports and social activities. ❜

NINA PHAM, VIETNAMMaster of Marketing

❛ After a thorough search of courses offered by Australian universities, I decided to study at CQUniversity because of the wide variety of course offerings. I can also select electives from Marketing or Management disciplines to complete a minor and increase my employment opportunities. ❜

LIVING IN AUSTRALIAAustralia is a safe and modern country, with cities regularly ranked among the best in the world to live and study in. The cities offer vibrancy, cultural diversity and a generally fast-paced lifestyle. Outside the cities, you can experience a more laid-back environment with a diverse range of outdoor activities and natural landscapes to enjoy.

VISA AND OSHCIf you intend to study in Australia, you will require a student visa. As a student visa holder, you are required to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of your studies. If you are under 18 years old, you are also required to have an approved guardian until you turn 18 and reside in a CQUniversity approved accommodation. As of 1 July 2016, DIBP has made changes to its student visa processes including the introduction of a simplified student visa framework (SSVF). SSVF is a change to the way DIBP assesses your eligibility for a student visa. For more information visit www.cqu.edu.au/studentvisas.
