32016 GCA ANNUAL REPORT
2016 has been another year of growth and development for the GAC Corporate Academy
(GCA). We have again exceeded our operational capability and have seen a record year for
course development - with continued efforts to generate more engaging and
thought-provoking courses.
The most significant achievement has been the introduction of 10 new courses,
bringing the total to over 35 individual courses on offer for our 9000 employees across
the GAC World. The new courses developed this year clearly reflected the Group’s strategic
focus on sales, finance, leadership and IT.
In total, GCA has launched more than 140 courses this year, offering insights
into a wide variety of GAC related topics and reinforcement to the group values and strategy.
This equates to 107% of the planned operating capability developed in conjunction
with the annual forecasting process – an impressive achievement.
The overall performance in 2016 demonstrates that we continue
to deliver our Vision - to be a world-class corporate learning organisation that delivers
the learning strategy of the GAC Group. As we go forward, the Academy will continue
to develop and evolve in response to the priorities of the business
and changing markets in 2017 and onwards.
On behalf of the GCA Team, I thank you for your ongoing support,
and we look forward to another milestone in 2017, when we celebrate
the 10 Year Anniversary of the GAC Corporate Academy.
Patrik HalldénGroup Vice President, Human Resources andChairman, GAC Corporate Academy

New Commercial PortfolioA new range of Commercial courses were launched
in May of 2016, bringing the total offering of Commercial
courses to seven. The courses were specifically designed to help
all commercially-focused GAC personnel gain a well-developed
understanding of GAC’s core business and build knowledge, skills
and attitudes to do business the GAC way. The new generation
of commercial courses provides a structured approach to training,
taking sales staff on a progressive journey through the world of
GAC sales, ensuring that they have what it takes to succeed
and to grow in the GAC sales environment.

Strengthening Financial Foundations
GCA introduced two financial courses in 2016 as part
of the Business Performance Portfolio – GAC Financial Reporting
(GFR) and the re-development of the popular GAC Finance Essentials
(GFE) course. The GFR course is mandatory for all GAC Finance
Managers, ensuring that they and their teams understand the importance
of the GAC Group Reporting Package and to achieve accurate and
timely reporting. The new courses have been designed to ensure current
and future leaders in GAC are financially confident, and are able to drive
a positive performance culture in line with our culture of measurement
and continuous improvement. Financial literacy, strategic measurement
and performance management are the main focus to drive this continual
improvement across our 300 GAC offices in over 50 countries.

Re-launch of Global English Programme
Driven by demand, in October, GCA re-launched its popular
Global English Programme (GEP) to provide individuals with better
all-round English communication skills. The overall aim of GEP is to give
GAC employees the opportunity to communicate more efficiently across
borders and cross-cultural teams, using English in a business context.
The programme is designed for beginners to more advanced English
speakers who wish to become more proficient in the language. GEP is a
year-long (52 weeks) self-paced course and has been tailored for GAC
with many unique features. Participants in the course will be learning in
an interactive, engaging environment, allowing them to practice Business
English and receive feedback from an advisor in a virtual classroom.

New Interactive LearningOver the years, the design and development of courses through
our learning management system has evolved together with
the Group’s strategy and learning needs. Courses now include more
interactive lessons and forum-based discussions that engage individuals
with their colleagues across the GAC World and allow them to learn
from each other’s experiences and skills. In 2016, GCA offered
a new competency quiz in a board game format for the Compliance
and Ethics Refresher Course (CNR). Participants rolled a dice to move around
the board answering specific questions relating to GAC compliance and ethics.
To pass the course, a target had to be reached within a certain timeframe.
“The response to the new game has been extremely positive.
We were thrilled that important topics in compliance and ethics were covered
in a format that allowed individuals to engage in a fun and encouraging way.”
said Pia Lindberg, GAC Group Compliance Manager.
