Message from the chairman

Dear Prospective Sponsor and Partner,

Hello and welcome to Villager Schools Sevens, the oldest 7’s tournament in the country. Firstly, I would like to thank you personally for allowing us the opportunity to present you with

our sponsorship proposal.

Schools Rugby in the Western Cape has continued its upward trajectory over the last ten years or so and continues to attract large audiences each weekend as the popularity of the game

continues to grip the attention of local and national news outlets.

The Villager Sevens has been a highlight on many a local rugby fans calendar for over 45 years and has enjoyed hosting large crowds at Brookside to see future stars of the game such as Dillyn Leyds,

Matthew Turner (Eng), Nick Coster, Rob Herring (Ireland), Paul Delport and Kyle Brown to name a few who have all gone on to either play on the International 7’s circuit or in Super and International Rugby.

With the addition of young and passionate organizers, combined with the help of TEEM, a marketing and events company, I believe that the Schools Sevens has the foundations to attract the right like-minded

sponsors to ensure that the tournament can become one of the biggest and not to mention most loved events on the school calendar.

To achieve our aims we have designed a number of tiered packages which will give businesses the opportunity to support the Tournament at all levels. Our sponsorship packages have been developed to provide businesses

with an excellent return on investment. Our packages offer our sponsors brand exposure through a variety of mediums

including, media, print, signage, membership database, competition naming rights and much more. In return for your investment, the Villager Schools Sevens can help your business increase your brand awareness and image, to gain new

customers and to develop relationships with existing customers. In doing this, you showcase your devoted involvement in supporting the local community and Schoolboy Rugby in the Western Cape.

I am confident our dedicated staff, backed by the support of TEEM, and with our desire to see the Villager Schools Sevens grow into the top sevens tournament in the country, will ensure your business will enjoy enhanced brand and customer

awareness. With a potential support base of over 15,000 Old Boys, parents, local school boys and girls, we would relish the opportunity to work with your business to reach this potential audience.

If you have any queries regarding any of our sponsorship packages please don’t hesitate to contact Ross Williams or Matthew Rockhill. Ross and Matthew are part of the Villager FC Committee and are owners of TEEM which is currently involved with

marketing the main club and improving the bar and restaurant area to ensure the longevity of the Club as an amateur organization.

In finishing, I would like to extend my sincere thanks for taking the time to read our sponsorship proposal. We believe our proposal will provide an exciting marketing opportunity for your business and we would relish the opportunity of working in partnership with

your business. The Villager Schools Sevens looks forward to welcoming you to our family.

Introduction

The Villager Schools 7s (VS7S) has been held at Villager FC, the 2nd oldest club in the country, since its inception in 1969, and was the brainchild of former springbok Flyhalf

Dave Stewart and former Springbok Centre, Captain and one time Test record holder, John Gainsford. Both Dave and John are still very much involved at Villager having both been

Club Presidents in their time and can still be seen at various events during the year and at the Schools 7s tournament each year.

As part of the broader Villager FC mission statement, the Schools Sevens Tournament forms an integral part of the Clubs motto of playing rugby for the right reasons, a motto the Club take

seriously after being one of the first to stop the common practice of paying players to play club rugby. Playing for the love of the game is one of the founding beliefs of the tournament which are

unfortunately forgotten by many a young player who nowadays chase the professional dream. Happily the Tournament still holds onto these ideals by allowing the youngsters an opportunity to express

themselves in their last game as a schoolboy with a heavy emphasis on fun before they graduate into either University or Club Rugby where they will hopefully stick with the game for life.

Your sponsorship means...

The Schools Sevens and Villager FC has established itself as a community based club based on the ideals of the Right Reasons motto. Both the main club, and the tournament

as an extension, endeavors to provide pathways and opportunities for all rugby players to enjoy the game at community level and focus on their educational futures rather than solely

on their rugby playing aspirations.

The Club and the Tournament encourages young players to stay physically active for life and learn the importance of education and being involved in a community club for no other reward

than the joys of being involved itself. This process lends itself to teaching players about teamwork, leadership and discipline, and skill development.

Sponsorship funding is directly invested into Villager FC and is used to manage and improve rugby at the club as well as provide bursaries and selected accommodation to promising or players in need.

Villager is level 3 BEE Compliant

Areas of expenditure include:
