HEAD COACH BRYAN BLITZ... • 2009 Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year

• 2007 Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year

• 1995 Horizon League Coach of the Year

Bryan Blitz begins his 20th season at the helm of the Tigers soccer program and

enters 2018 with a 208-165-24 record at Missouri since he was hired as the program’s

fi rst head coach in 1996. A dedicated coach, there is little time off the fi eld when he is

not working to improve his team. Making an immediate impact to the program with his

stellar recruiting techniques, Blitz has set a standard by enlisting some of the nation’s

top players each season.

During the 2014 campaign, Blitz led the Tigers to a 12-7-3 record and a 6-4-1 mark

in SEC action, including a 7-1-1 record in home contests. Blitz led Mizzou to the NCAA

Tournament for the sixth time in program history and advanced to the second round

after posting a 3-1 win over Kansas in the opening round.

In 2013, Mizzou knocked off three top-25 teams, which were the most wins over

ranked opponents were the most for the Tigers since 2008. Missouri recorded its fi rst

ranked win with a 1-0 defeat over No. 7 Florida, then handed No. 7 South Carolina only

its second loss of the season on Oct. 18 and posted a dramatic 2-1 double-overtime

win at No. 25 Kentucky on Oct. 25.

After a 7-10-2 season in 2010, Blitz led the Tigers to a 12-8-1 record in 2011 despite

13 players who were new to the program. Mizzou set a new program record for non-

conference winning percentage (.909) during the year and tied the team’s consecutive

wins record (seven).

In the program’s fi rst season in the Southeastern Conference, Blitz led the Tigers

to a 14-7-1 season and their fi fth NCAA Tournament berth. The squad’s 14 wins tie

for the second-most in a single-season. Mizzou also recorded an 8-5 SEC mark and

advanced to the semifi nals of the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala.In 2009, his

Mizzou squad earned its fi rst-ever Big 12 regular season title as the Tigers clinched the

title with a 5-0 shutout over Nebraska on Oct. 25 With his players excelling on the fi eld

it seemed only natural that Blitz was named Big 12 Coach of the Year for the second

time.

In 2008 the Tigers had one of their most successful seasons in program history. Blitz

directed his team to a 16-5-2 mark, the Big 12 Conference Tournament Championship

and into the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive

season. Over the course of the year, Mizzou set school records with wins (16), fewest

losses (fi ve), shutouts (12), fewest goals allowed (19) and goals against average (0.80),

among others.

2015 marks the 20th season of Mizzou soccer, as the program started in 1996

when the Tigers began competition in the Big 12 Conference.

Head Coach Bryan Blitz has been at the helm of the Tigers since the beginning,

compiling a 203-165-24 record at Missouri in the previous 19 years.

The Tigers have made the NCAA Tournament six times in their history, including

a berth in 2014.

In all, 26 different Tigers have claimed all-conference honors a total of 46 timesin

the fi rst 19 years of the program.

TIGERS RETURN ENTIRE BACKLINE Although Mizzou will break in a new goalkeeper in 2015, the Tiger defense should

be stout as the entire backline returns from a season ago.

Leading the way is three-year starter Candace Johnson, who will once again

anchor the defense at center back. Johnson has started 60 of 61 games in her fi rst three

years, including 21 games a year ago.

Junior Jasmine Johnson also earned starts in 21 games in the center of the

defense in 2014.

Other returning starters include junior Erin Webb (16 starts in 2014), redshirt

senior Brittany Conley (20 starts in 2014) and redshirt senior Lauren Flynn (10 starts in

2014).

TIGERS RETURN 68% OF SCORING FROM 2015 The 2015 Tigers return 68 percent of their scoring from a year ago, when the team

tallied 37 goals and 32 assists for 106 points.

Gone are 2014 seniors Taylor Grant (20 points on nine goals and two assists) and

Kaysie Clark (18 points on three goals and 12 assists) but Mizzou brings back 10 Tigers

who scored a goal in 2014.

Senior midfi elder Reagan Russell is Mizzou’s top returning scorer after she

notched career bests of seven goals and four assists for 18 points as a junior in 2014.

After Russell, sophomore midfi elders Savannah Trujillo and Alli Magaletta enter

2015 after notching three goals apiece a year ago. Trujillo ranked fourth on the squad

with 10 points (three goals and four assists) and Magaletta was sixth with seven points

(three goals and one assist).

Also scoring for Mizzou in 2014 were sophomore midfi elder Kaitlyn Clark (two

goals and four assists), sophomore forward Jessica Johnson (two goals and two assists),

junior midfi elder Melanie Donaldson (two goals and one assist), junior midfi elder Lauren

Selaiden (two goals), sophomore forward Allie Hess (one goal and two assists), senior

defender Candace Johnson (one goal), and redshirt junior forward Jessica Herrman (one

goal).

MISSOURI TO FACE TOUGH 2015 SCHEDULE The 2015 schedule is highlighted by three nationally televised games, 10 home

contests and regular season matchups with fi ve teams that qualifi ed for the 2014 NCAA

Tournament.

The Tigers will appear on national television three times in 2015, including a

league-high two matches on ESPNU. The faces both South Carolina (Sunday, Sept. 20)

and Tennessee (Sunday, Oct. 18) on ESPNU, while taking on Texas A&M (Thursday, Oct.

29) on the SEC Network.

All of Mizzou’s home game and conference games not selected for television will

also be broadcast live on SEC Network +.
