ALEX BARD: Alex Bard coached several 5 Olympic and 23 World Championship athletes. Under Alex’s watch many of his ath-

letes represented at all levels at the National Championships, Commonwealth Games, Pan American Games, Junior Pan Am Games and Pacific Alliance Games. Alex has received the prestigious honorary diploma from the International Gymnastics federation (FIG) for training athletes at World & Olympic levels. He has received a life membership honour from both Gymnastics Ontario and Gym-nastics Canada. Alex has recently accepted a position with GCG as Junior & Youth National Team Advisor.

CINDY BICKMAN: has been the owner and director of Chattooga School of Gymnastics in Marietta, Georgia, since it opened in

1976. She has coached to the elite level in artistic, rhythmic, and aesthetic group gymnastics and holds the USA Gymnastics title, Master of Sport. For 30 years, Cindy has included gymnasts with special needs in her program. She has served on the Special Olym-pics International Sports Resource Team for artistic gymnastics, and is the Technical Delegate Emeritus for rhythmic gymnas-tics. Spreading the word about the abilities of gymnasts with special needs is one of her passions in the sport!

HOW TO START A SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAM: You want to start a gymnastics program for athletes with spe-cial needs, but where do you begin? Where do you find students? What special training or adaptive equip-ment do you need? How do you make these classes fit into your existing program? In this session, we will ex-plore these and other questions you might have about starting your journey into the world of coaching gym-nasts with special needs.

NICK BLANTON: We are pleased to have Nick present several WAG & MAG sessions. Nick is a dedicated gymnastics profes-

sional with a passion for sharing information and advice. In 1990, he was first introduced to the sport and his interest has grown ever since. He competed at the JO National level and obtained a gymnastics scholarship to James Madison University where he competed at the NCAA level. During the summer months of his University experience, he attended International Gymnastics Camp (IGC) in Stroudsburg, PA. USA, to refine, learn and practice his skills as a coach and competitor. His passion for teaching and learn-ing ignited from these valuable experiences and paved the way for a lifetime of work within the gymnastics industry. He obtained a UK Level 5 High Performance Coaching Certification in Great Britain, a Level 3 National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Quali-fication in Canada, an American Education Sport Program (ASEP) Certification in the USA, a Union of European Gymnastics (UEG) Diploma and has been a member of USA Gymnastics, British Gymnastics and Gymnastics Canada. Currently, Nick is the Head Coach of Fundy Gymnastics Club in New Brunswick and has been for the last three years. He runs the gym alongside his wife, Nancy.

RINGS: LEVEL 1 ON TO LEVEL 3: Intro to ring skills required by the Ontario Level 1 and 2 Compulsory Pro-grams with an introduction to Level 3 skills. Long swings, in locates, dislocates, backward uprise and back strength elements will be covered.

FLYAWAYS AND GIANTS: This session will provide an overview of teaching the back flyaway. However, the session will focus on the development of the giant for women’s uneven bars, including drills and techniques to teach the skill from the beginning to completion between the bars.

MAKING THE HANDSPRING VAULT EXCITING!!!: Bored of teaching the handspring vault? This session will focus on using great technique starting at the beginner level while displaying drills that will help keep you and your gymnast motivated all the way to level 6!

CATHERINE CABRAL-MAROTTA: is a Certified Athletic Therapist and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. Catherine

has also completed her Level 2 WAG and TRA NCCP certification. Catherine graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bache-lor of Science degree in Human Kinetics. She then went on to complete a Diploma in Athletic Therapy from Sheridan College Insti-tute of Technology and Advanced Learning. To compliment her advanced manual therapy techniques Catherine became certified as a Registered Massage Therapist. In 2011 Catherine successfully defended her thesis allowing her to graduate from the Canadian College of Osteopathy in Toronto. Catherine is the High Performance Coordinator with USA Gymnastics trampoline and tumbling program. Her professional experience includes over 10 years of clinical practice, as well as working as Chief therapist on the World Cup circuit with the Canadian National trampoline and power tumbling team. She has worked with a variety of HP athletes from Olympians to the everyday active individual. Catherine specializes in biomechanical analysis for the prevention of sports injuries, strength & conditioning prescription, and osteopathic manual medicine.

THE OFF-TRAMPOLINE COMPONENTS THAT DEVELOP A CHAMPION: This session will discuss the concept and specifics of off-equipment supplementary training for mental and physical performance optimization. The sport of trampoline and tumbling has demonstrated great progress over the last decade, with significant in-creases in difficulty and changes in equipment. This session will detail different types of training that can be used to elevate your elite program to the world-class level, teaching the participant how to find the best re-sources in their community.

A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON CONDITIONING FOR THE TRAMPOLINIST: This session will give the coach a new perspective on developing a strength program for their trampolinists. Exercise program layout, as well as spe-cific exercise techniques will be discussed and demonstrated. Participants should arrive ready to participate, and will leave with a complete “early season” conditioning program.

EMILY CERCADO: BScD., RD, LDN Emily is a former National Open level gymnast and a lifetime member of Gymnastics Missis-

sauga from 1992-2003. She represented Ontario at the 2002 and 2003 Canadian National Championships. Emily went on to receive a full academic/athletic scholarship to Eastern Michigan University where she specialized on the uneven bars and was the team cho-reographer for floor exercise and balance beam. Emily graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2008 with her Bachelors of Science in Dietetics. Upon graduation she went on to work in North Carolina, New York and Michigan as a Clinical and Wellness Die-titian. She recently moved back home to Oakville in October of 2014 and is currently the Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Coach at Life Time Fitness in Mississauga, Ontario.

NUTRITION PROGRAM CONSIDERATION FOR GYMNASTS: This session will look at how to develop a basic nutrition program for gymnasts in your gym. It will discuss hydration, balanced meals, healthy snacking, bone health and repair.

JACINDA DAVID: Jacinda and her husband own Just Bounce Trampoline Club, which they started in 2004. Before that Jacinda

coached Trampoline at both Scarborough Olympians and Seneca Gymnastics! She loves coaching and sharing in athlete's successes at all levels from KinderBounce to National Stream! Jacinda is looking forward to sharing great ideas and tips for you to start a new program at your gym!

HOW TO START A RECREATIONAL TRAMPOLINE PROGRAM IN YOUR GYMNASTICS CLUB (JACINDA DAVID):

Do you have a trampoline? Learn how to capitalize on equipment you already have to start a new program in

MENTAL TRAINING FOR YOUTH-SKILLS & DRILLS FOR DEVELOPING THE MENTAL GAME! (STEPHEN DAVID): A step by step approach to dealing with the mental game. Stephen will walk you through a game plan of de-veloping a usable Mental Training Program that will enable and engage your athletes in their develop-ment. From Goal setting through developing Competition Focus Plans to dealing with Fear, this session will benefit all coaches no matter how much background they have in the area of mental training programming.

CHRIS HANLEY: Chris Hanley is currently coaching National, Provincial, and Pre-Competitive gymnasts at SGI. He has 25 years of

coaching experience and is a fully certified level three NCCP in both Women’s and Men’s gymnastics and is currently working on his

Level 4 Women’s certification. Chris is a level 3 Trampoline and Tumbling coach, and has Risk Management and First Aid certifica-

tion. He has been involved with the sport for 31 years as both a National gymnast and a coach. Chris has had numerous Canadian,

Provincial, and Eastern Canadian Champions in all disciplines of gymnastics. He has been named team coach for many traveling

teams representing Canada and Ontario. Chris was also the former Coaching Chairperson for Gymnastics Ontario Men’s program.

BREAKING DOWN IN-BAR SKILLS: This session will provide an overview of the clear hip skill with a stronger

focus on teaching the stalder and toe to handstand. Friday, Session 4F 2:15pm-3:30pm

STEPHEN DAVID: Stephen David has been involved in gymnastics for over three decades. From athlete to coach to judge to

volunteer to learning facilitator, Stephen has participated in WAG, MAG and T&T up to and including the national & internation-al levels. Stephen has spent numerous years on various technical committees and on the G.O. Board of Directors. Recently, Ste-phen was elected to the national TTPC as Coaching Chairperson. Throughout all of the adventures, Stephen has worked with ath-letes and coaches of all levels to reach their potential. Always happy to work through the tough areas, he has developed many tools to help develop the sport across the country. Stephen takes pride in his ability to focus on the mental game and has worked with many athletes across the country in honing their mental abilities to achieve their best!

ZHAOHUI HUANG: completed the post graduate program in Gymnastics from Shanghai University. He taught Sports Science at

the University for 14 years and has had several papers published in high-grade journals in China. He is an NCCP Level 4 Certified Coach. Zhaohui has been coaching at Futures since 1998 and Head Coach since 2003. He has produced a great number of both Pro-vincial and National Champions. Zhaohui has been awarded Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2013 by Gym-nastics Canada.

DAWN IZZARD: Dawn graduated from Seneca College in Recreation Management. She has her NCCP Level 2 certification in Ar-

tistic Gymnastics and trampoline. Dawn is the Recreation Manager at the Burlington Gymnastics Club and is a member of the Gym-nastics Ontario General Gymnastics Committee. She is also a level 1-3 coach and coordinator, the Level 1-5 coaching chairperson on the Gymnastics Ontario Women's Technical Committee, ODP Committee member and an assessor.

BABY GYMNASTICS: This session will help you design a program for "babies" that encourages discovery, balance and coordination. The Baby Gym program stimulates visual and auditory development through songs and activity.

CHANTEL KOWDRYSH: At age 9 Chantel Kowdrysh fell in love with the sport of gymnastics. Her passion and love for the

sport pushed her through many years as a National Stream gymnast. Her interest in Acrobatic Gymnastics began when her oldest of 8 children became a Competitive Acro gymnast and in order to stay involved Chantel started doing choreography, judging and coaching alongside some of the best Acrobatic Coaches in Canada. Throughout her twenty plus years of coaching she has produced several provincial Champions and has coached National stream and High Performance gymnastics. She has been recognized for her interesting and unique choreography in both Artistic and Acrobatic gymnastics and has won several choreography awards. A gradu-ate of Seneca College’s Advanced Coaching Technique Program, Chantel is fully NCCP Certified level 3 in women’s Artistic Gymnas-tics, and level 2 in Trampoline. She has over 25 years experience in the sport as a coach, choreographer, judge and administrator and is currently the Provincial coaching chair on Gymnastics Ontario’s Acro technical committee and a Competitive WAG coach at Milton Springers.

What are the coaching require-ments? What is the difference in offering recreational vs. competitive? How many athletes do I need to start? It’s a go! Now what? What kind of training schedule and commitment is required? What are some of the basic skills and how do we grow from here? All of these questions and more will be answered by Chantel dur-ing this very informative ACRO session.

CHOREOGRAPHY FOR ACRO: What is Acrobatic Gymnastics (ACRO)? What is an ACRO routine? What are the different types of ACRO routines? How do ACRO routines differ from WAG floor routines? How do I select music? How do judges evaluate routines? Choreography of partner mounts and dismounts, formulations, use of floor space and putting it all together. Chantel will go into great detail regarding how to get the most of an ACRO routine.

NICOLE LANGEVIN, OWNER OF PRECISION CHOREOGRAPHY AND CLINICS: You can find me presenting lec-

tures at various Local, Regional, National, and International Congresses. My articles have been featured in such prestigious gymnas-tics publications as INTERNATIONAL GYMNAST and TECHNIQUE Magazine. These opportunities, along with visitations to gyms around the world, leave me honored to be a part of the educational process that helps propel our amazing sport. Since establishing Precision Choreography LLC, I helped Alicia Sacramone create her acclaimed floor choreography during her post ’08 Olympic Come-back, was commissioned by USAG to work one-on-one with Kyla Ross in Artistry Training Sessions that took her choreography to a new level in 2013, was entrusted to bring the USAG Compulsory Program to British Columbia, and even worked with CBS consulting on “gymnastics authenticity” on their hit show, “The Mentalist!” Precision has expanded into Clinics, Consultation, Music, and Train-ing Camps. Our staff includes World Champions, Alicia Sacramone and Hollie Vise, as well as Olympian and USA Superstar, Betty Okino, along with more extremely talented and passionate individuals. It is through these multiple avenues with these amazing peo-ple that we continue to push ourselves as we strive to raise the level of excellence in THE BEST SPORT IN THE WORLD.

DRAMA-FREE ZONE!: Establish your ideal “parent team” from day 1 and remove the drama from the team parent community. Learn how to replace the overbearingness that comes from uncertainty with the healthy distance that comes with trust. We will explore the do’s and don’ts of communication, creating policy packets, when to request and when to require, and how to keep everyone on the same team.

bilitation Hospital, Toronto, Competitive Gymnastics Coach, University of Toronto

CONCUSSIONS IN GYMNASTICS, HOW DO WE IDENTIFY CONCUSSIONS AND MANAGE RETURN TO SPORT AFTER INJURY?: Gymnasts can be at high-risk for sustaining concussions and if not managed properly this injury has the potential for long-term consequences. This sport is particularly demanding physically, mentally and emotionally, therefore returning to gymnastics after a brain injury can be complicated for coaches to man-age. This session will cover concussion 101: the signs and symptoms of concussion, what coaches should do if you suspect your athlete has a concussion and tools on how to manage this injury. These tools will include how to gradually return to sport after a concussion (activity level, modified drills/skills, etc.), potential unique concerns for the gymnastics population and how to best support consistent concussion identification and management in your gymnastics club.

STEPHANIE MOSER: has been the Head Therapist for the Toronto Lynx Professional Soccer Team and an Assistant Therapist

with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL. These opportunities provided very valuable experience in acute care management and inju-ry rehabilitation and led to her position as the Head Athletic Therapist for the Seneca College varsity athletes and the Varsity Thera-py Clinic Director for 6 years. Stefanie is in her ninth season as part of the medical team for the Canadian National Women’s Hockey Program. She has been the therapist for the U22 team and the 2010 World Champion U18 team. Stefanie has also been the thera-pist for the Senior National Women’s team and has joined them at the 2008 World Women’s Hockey Championships in Harbin, Chi-na and the 2011 WWHC in Zurich, Switzerland. Stefanie continues to broaden her education through professional courses in an effort to provide her clientele with exceptional therapeutic services. She obtained her certification in Contemporary Medical Acu-puncture from McMaster University in December 2009. * Registered Massage Therapist, Certified Athletic Therapist, Certified Kinesio Tape Provider * Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Certification from McMaster University * Currently part of the medical team for the Canadian National Women’s Hockey Team and Trampoline Canada. * Medical Lead for Gymnastics & Trampoline at the 2015 Pan-Am Games.

ATHLETIC TAPING FOR GYMNASTICS INJURIES: This session will lead participants through several athletic taping methods. Participants may request which areas of the body they would like to learn how to tape in or-der to assist their gymnasts in the healing process after injury.

BETH ORIBINE: Beth has her Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Advanced Coaching Certificate from York Universi-

ty. She is an active NCCP Gymnastics Learning Facilitator for Introduction, Active Start, Artistic and Rhythmic. Beth is a certified HIGH FIVE trainer for Principles of Healthy Child Development, Quest 2, Observing the Child’s Experience and HIGH FIVE Sport. Beth has her NCCP Level 2 certification in Artistic Gymnastics with her Level 3 Technical and Theory. Beth was the Recreation Program Coordinator with the Burlington Gymnastic Club from 1985 to 2005 and is a member of the Gymnastics Ontario Coach Education Advisory Committee.

BEYOND THE SCORES—THE BASICS: This session will provide an overview on what Beyond the Scores is and how we use it for our Gymnastics Ontario WAG & MAG competitions. DAVE ROSS: As the Founder, President, Olympic coach and owner/head coach of Skyriders Trampoline Place, Dave Ross has

been a Pioneer of Trampoline Sports in Canada. He started out achieving an Honours Degree in Physics from Queen’s University. During that time he was active as a competitive gymnast. His enthusiasm, as well as his personal abilities, launched him into the his-tory books, developing the most impressive and technically advanced trampoline equipment in the world today. Dave has pro-duced many World and Olympic Champions and his most recent coaching success was at the 2015 Pan Am Games where his ath-letes took home gold and bronze medals.

DENIS VACHON: Denis Vachon is a fully certified Level 4 Coach and the National Tumbling Team Coach for GCG. Denis recently

accepted the position of Head Coach at the Burlington BG’s and is also Head Coach of the Tumbling program where he has pro-duced several National team athletes. Denis currently competes and a 4-time World Championship medalists on DMT. You also may have seen Denis perform with Cirque du Soleil at the recent Opening Ceremonies for the 2015 Pan-American Games.
