AURA RHYTHMICS Coaching Staff Kamena Petkova, Head Coach Formerly Chief Choreographer of the Bulgarian National Gymnastics Team, and assistant professor at the Bulgarian National Sport Academy, Kamena is a specialist in the sport of rhythmic gymnastics. She has consistently produced Canadian National Team members and is well respected for her innovative choreography and expertise. She holds a Masters of Physical Education, is a certified NCCP level 3 coach, and is a published author in the field of rhythmic gymnastics. Kamena was honored by Gymnastics Canada, and named Canadian National Coach of the Year 2014. Gina Mikhlin, Assistant Coach Gina has coached Rhythmic Gymnastics for 16 years in Ukraine, Israel, and Canada. She has 14 years of experience in competitions as a rhythmic gymnast.Gina holds a Masters Degree of Physical Education. Demetra Mantcheva, Assistant Coach Demetra has been involved in Rhythmics for over 13 years. She competed for Aura and represented Team Canada Nationally and Worldwide. She was 3 time National Canadian Champion, represented Canada in two World Championships and won a Silver Medal at Commonwealth Games. She is currently a university student and has devoted most of her time to coaching and giving back to the beautiful sport that she grew up loving. AURA athletes represented Canada at the

Commonwealth Games, Edinburgh, Scotland,

Senior Pan American Games, Toronto, World

Championships, Izmir, Turkey, and the

prestigious Aeon Cup, Tokyo, Japan.

PROGRAMSBeginnersDesigned for girls and boys aged 4 and up,

this program provides an opportunity to learn

the basics in a fun and supportive atmosphere.

We teach fundamental dance steps and

introduce rhythmic gymnastics skills with

a variety of apparatus. Musical movement

and creative routines are combined to give

beginners an introduction to the beautiful

sport of rhythmic gymnastics. Lunch break

and rhythmic related arts and crafts activities

included.

Competitive ProgramAccepts all National and Provincial Level

Athletes. We prepare each gymnast for

competition season by creating a personalized

training program based on a gymnast’s level

and experience, and in keeping with FIG

rules and regulations. Our summer programs

focuses on the development of skills and

technique in partnership with endurance,

flexibility and apparatus training.
