Dear Members, Friends, and Supporters:
This year’s annual report is a snapshot of the many activities in Cultural Services during 2015. However, I’d like to feature a few high notes:
• Early in the year we held multiple programs to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Rocky Mountain National Park. Our big neighbor to the west has a huge impact on our environment—from a spectacular view to numerous tourists who visit Loveland throughout the year.
• In the spring the second annual History Days for 2nd graders was held. Approximately 1,200 students visited the Museum, the Rialto, and Lone Tree School to learn about Loveland’s history.
• In the summer we dedicated a three-part public art work by Robert Tully. Tully’s piece, Overland Trail Series: Compass, Elements, and Reflection Line, reflects the history of the park as part of the Overland Trail.
• In the fall, we were delighted to host world-renowned artist, Christo. He delivered a slideshow presentation about his work at the Rialto, signed books at Artworks, and attended a reception in the Museum’s Main Gallery—graciously posing for selfies!
• A look back at performances at the Rialto revealed that records were broken for sold out shows. We hope that will continue in 2016!
• As the year was closing, a contract was signed to purchase a new storage facility for the Museum’s collection—a multi-year project and a dream come true. The new facility will allow us to remove items from inappropriate storage areas and to fully unpack, giving greater access to the community. Stewardship of the historic collection is one of our most important functions. This building will provide the environmentally controlled environment so important for long term care. 2016 is the year of the big move.
• Next up—work on expanding the Museum on its current site with a 3-story addition to the south; and, the Rialto Theater Center is launching a new cinema series. Watch for more!
I’d like to end with the same thought I had last year and am happy to say it has not changed a bit: I am fortunate to work with an incredible bunch of smart, dedicated people, who use their humor to make work fun. Every one of them wants to make this community a better place to live. I hope you feel that when you walk through our doors.
However, what we do doesn’t matter without an engaged and appreciative community. Thank you for your participation and support.
The Museum relies on the support of its members and donors to continue in pursuit of its mission to serve as a regional cultural center by collecting, preserving, and interpreting Loveland’s history, and by presenting exemplary art and history exhibits, programs, and events for the enrichment of visitors of all ages and backgrounds. The staff at the Loveland Museum would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those who chose to support the Museum in 2015.

Dick Termes, an artist from Spearfish, SD visited Loveland to work with students, educators and community members. Termes uses a six-point perspective system that he devised to create unique paintings on large spheres called Termespheres. Termes presented a series of lectures and workshops and visited five school in the Thompson School District, reaching approx. 530 students and 50+ educators.
HISTORY DAY FOR 2ND GRADERSMay 2015The Museum offered its second annual History Day field trip for 2nd graders in the Thompson School District.
