2014 – 15

Teej celebration – Mehndi Competition: Popular Punjabi cultural festival of

‘Teej’ was celebrated in the premises of the college on 8th August, 2014. On this

occasion, Gidha, Songs, Group dance and Solo dance were presented along with

the main message of highlighting the immense success attained by the women

folklore of Punjab in almost every field of events. Mehndi Competition was also

organized in this event. The program saw a mammoth participation of 246

students.

Raksha Bandhan Celebration [Rakhi Making]: Rakhi Making Competition was

organized on 4th of August, 2014 by the Department of Punjabi on the occasion of

Raksha Bandhan. 25 students participated in this event of Rakhi making.

Independence day celebration [Quiz competition, Rangoli making &poster

making: Students at Lyallpur Khalsa College highlighted the significance of

national unity and integrity through Rangoli and Posters in an event organized to

celebrate 67th Independence Day on 14.08.2014. In this event organized by the

Social Sensitization Club of the College, Rangoli and Poster making competitions

were held in which over 60 students made rangoli and posters on the theme

‘National Unity and Integrity’.

Centre for youth Affairs and youth club - Painting Competition: Painting

Competition was organized on 24th of August, 2014 by the Department of

Chemistry. 25 students were participated in this event. Best painting was awarded

with the prize.

Sports Day- Commerce Department: The Sports day of Commerce department

was organized on 29.08.2014. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Dhyan Chand

Awardee Sushil Kohli. The Chief Guest appreciated the proactive role of the

management and the principal in promoting sports in the region. Over 100 students

participated in atheletic events and other games in the event.

Teacher day celebration: The students of Computer Science and IT department of

Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated Teachers Day on 05.09.2014. On this occasion

senior students acted as teachers before the junior students of the department and

shared their views and opinions about the college. Bhangra and Gidha were

presented by the students.

Dusshera Celebrations: Dusshera was celebrated in the college campus on 03-10-

14. On this occasion the win of truth over evil, students were felt enthusiastic and

enjoyed a lot, burning the ravana inside every person, they were motivated to live a

life with path of truth. Over 250 students were gathered on this event of Dusshera.

Spectrum 2014: Spectrum-2014 was organized on 19.10.2014 by Mendelev

Society of PG Department of Chemistry. Eight different competitions were

conducted in it and there was a huge number of participation Lyallpur Khalsa

College and other colleges of Khalsa group. Approximately over 150 students were

participated in this event. Competitions were held in paper reading , dry flower

arrangement, pot painting, rangoli, poster making and included activities like solo

and group dance and folk song.

Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan: On 20.10.2014, Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan was

organised by the joint efforts of NCC and NSS wings and Eco Navigator Group

and Social Sensitization club of the college. Students were sensitized about the

importance of cleanliness and sanitation. On this occasion debate, Essay writing

and photo Exhibition competitions were held. Skit and nukkad Natak were staged

to show the importance of cleanliness in life. About 56 students and staff members

of the College pledged to keep the surroundings clean.

Green Diwali Celebration: Joy, festivity and vibrancy were all seen together at

play on the occasion of Diwali Celebrations at Lyallpur Khalsa College on 24-10-

14. To spread a message of pollution-free Diwali, the students on the occasion

made Rangolis and performed Punjabi folk dance Gidha and Bolis. About 48

students were participated in this event.

IT Spark-2014: A two day Inter-Departmental competition IT-Spark-2014 was

organised by the P.G. Department of Computer Science and IT of the college

29.10.2014. The tech-fest will have 20 technical and semi-technical events in 8

houses and 482 students displayed their technical skill and expertise in IT Spark-

2014.The event included cultural activities Bhangra, Gidha and Solo dance by

participants.

National Unity Day: National Unity Day was celebrated on 31.10.2014 to mark

the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel. The event was organized by the Social

Sensitization club of the college, the event included oath taking to maintain

National Unity and integrity, show of a documentary on Sardar Patel in addition to

March past by NCC wings of the college. 84 Students and staff members of the

college were participated in the symbolic Run for Unity.

Communal Harmony Campaign week-2014: Communal Harmony Flag Day was

duly observed from the 19th to 25th November 2014 with enthusiasm and fervor.

Publicity materials like Flag stickers, wrappers, posters, brochures, pamphlets etc.

were dispatched to by 35 participating students thereby appropriately marking this

significant occasion all over the campus. Nukkad nataks were presented to promote

spirit of communal harmony in students.

Cross Country Race : A Cross Country Race was organized on 26-11-14 by the

Centre for Youth Affairs and Youth club in which around 60 students participated.

The Chief Guest of the occasion was Mr. Gundeep Kumar Olympian and

Dhyanchand Awardee.

Alumni Meet on 75th Birth anniversary of S. Balbir Singh: Over 250 old

students including educationists, sportspersons, scientists and Scholars, today

relived their past for an evening in the Lyallpur Khalsa College campus on the

occasion of Sardar Balbir Singh Alumni meet on 05.12.2014. Students ranging

from batches of 1948’s to 2000’s participated in the meet organized on the

occasion of 75th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Babir Singh, the former member

parliament and former president of College Governing Council and also an

alumnus of the college. The old students of the college presented Punjabi folk

dances Bhangra and Gidha, poetry recitation and presentation of a short play.

Gurpurab Celebrations: The students and staff at Lyallpur Khalsa College paid

their obeisance on the occasion of Sehaj Path held in the college Gurudwara on as

a part of Gurupurab celebrations of Sri Guru Gobind Singh in the month of January

2015. The events of the day included the recitation of Kirtan by Bhai Gurmeet

Singh Shant Hazuri Ragi Sri Darbar Sahib Sri Amritsar. Following the tradition,

Langar was served to one and all at this time. The occasion was marked by the

presence of S. Gurdeep Singh Sangha, S. Jagdeep Singh Shergill, and Swarn Singh

Cheema members Governing Council.

National Voter day celebration with Debate , poster making, Quiz

competition, Slogan writing, Rangoli and Essay writing: As a part of National

Voter's Day celebrations, declamation, quiz, slogan writing and poster making

competitions were held in Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar on 24 Jan 2015. In

this event 62 students participated in these above mentioned events.

Lohri Festival: The festival of Lohri was celebrated in the college campus on 12-

01-15. Celebrated along Punjabi tradition the event included lighting of Lohri

bonfire along with folk presentations such as Bhangra, gidha, and lokgeet by the

students. Over 250 students were gathered on this event of Lohri.

Republic Day Celebration: Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated Republic Day in

the College campus on 25.1.2015. On the occasion the Chief Guest Sh Kamal

Kishor Yadav Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar was given guard of honour by the

NCC wing of the College. Over 150 students were present in this event. Patriotic

songs were presented to highlight the theme of the event.

Basant Panchami Celebration: Basant Panchami festival was organized on

10.02.2015 by the Department of Punjabi. On this event Gidha, Songs, Group

dance and Solo dance were presented along with the Kite flying. Over 150 students

were gathered in this occasion of Basant Panchami.

Fitness@IT: The playgrounds of Lyallpur Khalsa College were overfilled on

20.02.2015 with students of the Department of Computer Science giving a

performance of their athletic prowess in ‘Fitness @IT’, the departmental sports

event. Involving the participation of over 335 students of different classes of the

department, the event included activities like March Past followed by competitions

in sports activities such as 100 meter race, Kho-Kho, relay race, shot-put, three

legged race sack race and Lemon of the eight houses of the department Crome was

declared the Overall Winner, Gopher house declared second and Omega House

declared Third. The cricket match played between teaching and students.

Card making competition: Card making competition was organized on

21.02.2015 on the topics of Gender issue, social evils and environment pollution

by the Department of Zoology and Botany. On this occasion, 58 students were

participated in this event. Winners were given prizes.

63rd Annual Athletic Meet: Over 350 students displayed their fitness and

atheletic skills in the 63rd Annual Athletic Meet of the Lyallpur Khalsa College on

26.02.2015. The event saw participation students of the different wings of the

College such as Arts, Sciences, Commerce, Computers, and Physiotherapy in

events like 100 mts Race, Short Put Throw, Long Jump, and Relays.

Plasma-2015: Around 523 IT Students from 21 colleges of showcased their

technical skills in the Inter College IT Fest Plasma 2015 at Lyallpur Khalsa

College on 27-02-2015. Organized by the Department of Computer Science &

Information Technology of the College, the event included competitions in 21

events including software showcase, website development, Logo Development,

Logic Whirlpool, Ad mad Show, Idea Snap Shot, Net Savvy, IT Quiz, Test Your

Technical Skills, IT in Colors, IT Collage, Debugging and Tech GD. The event

also included solo dance, Bhangra, song presentation and a choreography on ‘exam

stress’ by participants.

Synergy 2015: 14th Annual Inter College academics and Cultural Function

Synergy 2015 started in Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar on 03.03.2015.

Organized by PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration of the

college on the event included participation of over 150 students of 20 colleges in 8

items which include Painting, Cartooning, Rangoli, Collage Making, Poster

Making, Clay Modeling, Declamation, Extempore. The event was inaugurated by

Dr. Kulwant Sandhu, Dean Administration of the College.

Holi Celebrations: The festival of Holi was celebrated in the college campus on

05-03-15. Celebrated the festival of colours various activities like Dance, Songs

etc. were performed by the students. Over 100 students were gathered on this event

of Holi.

S. Bhagat Singh Martrydom Celebrations: Over 40 Students, staff and

management of Lyallpur Khalsa College remembered Shaheed Bhagat Singh on

23-03-2015 at on his Martyrdom day in a brief function held in the college campus.

Paying tribute to the martyr, Sardarni Balbir Kaur President College Governing

Council said that it was the duty of the countrymen to remember their martyrs and

added that functions like this could help one in relating one to one’s traditions and

roots. Enactment of scenes from the martyr’s life were presented.

Cricket Match- Teaching vs. Non-teaching: As a token of support to the Indian

Cricket team in the world cup, a friendship cricket match was played on

25.03.2015 in Lyallpur Khalsa College, between Teaching and Non teaching

eleven. Teaching Eleven Wins this Friendly Cricket Match in Khalsa College.

Sukhmani Sahib Path at the beginning of the session: The students and staff at

Lyallpur Khalsa College paid their obeisance on the occasion of Sukhmani Sahib

Path held in the college Gurudwara on 20.07.2015 as a part of beginning of the

session. The events of the day included the recitation of Kirtan by Bhai Sarabjeet

Singh Shant Hazuri Ragi Sri Darbar Sahib Sri Amritsar. Following the tradition,

Langar was served to one and all at this time. Over 350 students were presented on

this occasion along with the faculty members of the college.

Teej Celebration in Girls Hostel: The Social Sensitization Club of Lyallpur

Khalsa College, Jalandhar organised Teej Celebrations in Girls Hostel on

10.08.2015. In this event over 50 girl students resided in the hostel were

participated and showed their talent.

Mehndi and Rangoli competition on Independence Day: Lyallpur Khalsa

College, Celebrated Independence Day which was organized by College N.C.C.

Department (Army and Air Wing) and Social Sensitization Club on 14.08.15 .

Various activities on the theme of patriotism were conducted to mark the occasion.

Student participated in Rangoli competition and Mehndi Competition in large

number. About 50 students were participated in this event.

National Sports Day Celebration: National Sports Day was celebrated on

29.08.2015 which is dedicated to legendary Hockey icon Major Dhyanchand. The

event included a cross country race participated in by 145 students of the college.

Teacher Day celebration: An impressive Teachers Day program was organized

by the English Literary Society on behalf of the PG Department of English on

04.09.2015. In this program featuring wide range of cultural activities, three former

Head of Departments of the PG Department of English namely Prof. Iqbal Singh,

Prof. Manjit Singh and Prof. VK Midha along with Prof. SS Paul, another former

member of the Department graced the occasion as dignitaries. Songs, solo and

group dance and poetry recitation were presented by the students.

Plantation of plants in decorative ports in commerce department: Plantation of

different plants in decorative pots was organized by the Commerce Department on

13.10.2015. The pots were on the spot painted in solo and group forms. The

participating 26 Students along with 5 faculty members planted trees on the

occasion of tree plantation day. The event aimed at spreading awareness regarding

clean and clear environment.

Poster making competition on HIV AIDS: A Poster Making Competition was

organized on HIV AIDS by the department of Zoology and Botany on 16

September, 2015. A total of 35 Students were participated in this competition,

winners who got best poster awards were got prize.

Debate in relation to politics: Debate competition was held on 23-09-15 on the

topic “Make in INDIA –How justified and unjustified is it in the development of

India” was organized by the Department of Commerce. Almost 31 students were

participated in this event.

Poetry competition in Hindi Department: Poetry competition was organized by

the Department of Hindi on 14 October, 2015. Almost 11 students participated in

this poetry competition.

IT Spark 2015: A two day Inter-Departmental Competition IT-Spark-2015 was

organised by the P.G. Department of Computer Science and IT of the college on

04.11.2014. The tech-fest will have 20 technical and semi-technical events in 8

houses and 482 students displayed their technical skill and expertise in IT Spark-

2015. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Dr. M.L. Singh, Dean Faculty of Engg.

And Technology, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar.

Diwali celebration with hostelers: The festival of light called Diwali was

celebrated in the boys hostel on the eve of 11.11.2015. About 120 students resided

in the hostel celebrated diwali by sharing sweets and burning crackers on this day.

Parkash Utsav Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji: The students and staff at Lyallpur

Khalsa College paid their obeisance on the occasion of Sehaj Path held in the

college Gurudwara on as a part of Gurupurab celebrations of Parkash utsav Shri

Guru Nanak Dev Ji held in the month of November. The events of the day included

the recitation of Kirtan by Bhai Harjeet Singh Shant Hazuri Ragi Sri Darbar Sahib

Sri Amritsar. Following the tradition, Langar was served to one and all at this time.

S. Balbir Singh Alumni Meet -2015: Over 200 old students including

educationists, sportspersons, scientists and Scholars, today relived their past for an

Rally on drug addiction in college campus and outside the college: To spread

awareness against Drug Abuse, the Youth Club of Lyallpur Khalsa College

organized a mass rally in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club and Youth Services

Jalandhar on 10.02.2016 in which over 100 students participated. With its

informative display of anti drug abuse placards and slogans, the rally was flagged

Spectrum 2016: Mendeleev Society of Chemistry Department, Lyallpur Khalsa

College, Jalandhar organised its Annual function Spectrum 2016 on 19.02.2016.

170 students participated in academic and competitions during this event. The

event witnessed cultural competition such as folk song, rangoli, pot painting and

slogan writing on given themes in addition to paper reading competition. A poster

making competition was also organized on the topic ‘Terror and Peace’ & ‘Career

in Science’. The poster judged the best was made by Lovpreet Kaur. The judges

for different events were Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Dr. Gagandeep

Kaur, Ms. Amita Shahid, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur and Dr. Amanpreet Kaur.

Synergy 2016: The two day Annual Academic and Cultural festival Synergy

2016, was organized by P.G. Department of Commerce and Business

Administration on 29.02.2016. Events included items such as General Dance,

Choreography and Mimicry, folk song, poetry competition, Bhangra, Gidha,

debate and elocution, with participation of around 360 students from 20 Colleges.

Fitness@IT: The Department of Computer Science organized its annual sports

event ‘Fitness @IT’, the departmental sports event on 23.02.2016. Around 220

students participated in different activities like March Past followed by

Plasma 2016: Around 633 IT Students from 21 colleges of showcased their

technical skills in the Inter College IT Fest Plasma 2016 at Lyallpur Khalsa

College on 27.02.2016. Organized by the Department of Computer Science &

Information Technology of the College, the event included competitions in 20

events including Tech GD, Ad mad Show, Web Portal Development, software

showcase, Debugging, Electronic Expo, Logo Designing, Logic Whirlpool, Test

Your Technical Skills, Hands on Keyboard Net Savvy, IT Cartooning, Pixel Plus,

Idea Snapshots, IT Extempore, IT Quiz, IT in Colors, IT Collage, Recreate from

Waste Choreography. The event also included cultural activities Bhangra and

Gidha by the students of the college The Chief Guest of the evening session was

Dr. Hardeep Singh, Professor, G.N.D.U..

International yoga day celebration: 25 students of college along with 15

volunteers from the staff conducted a Yoga Camp from 21st June, 2016 to 26th

June, 2016. The Yoga instructor explained the various ‘Asanas/Mudras’ of Yoga as

essential healthy practices, in addition to relating its cultural significance.

Guruparab Celebration: The students and staff at Lyallpur Khalsa College paid

their obeisance on the occasion of Sehaj Path held in the college Gurudwara on

25.01.16 as a part of Gurupurab celebrations of Sri Guru Gobind Singh. The events

of the day included the recitation of Kirtan by Bhai Gurmeet Singh Shant Hazuri

Republic Day Celebration: Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated Republic Day in

the College campus on 25.1.2016. The Principal Dr. GS Samra was given guard of

Honour by the NCC cadets. Students presented a short play on the theme of

national unity and integration.

Lohri Celebration: The festival of Lohri was celebrated in the college campus on

12-01-16. Celebrated along Punjabi tradition the event included lighting of Lohri

bonfire along with folk presentations such as Bhangra, gidha, and lokgeet by the

students. Over 250 students were gathered on this event of Lohri.

National Voters Day celebration: As a part of National Voter's Day celebrations

various activities like declamation, quiz, slogan writing and poster making

competitions were held in Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar on 25 January 2016.

In this event 70 students participated and showed their talent.

S. Bhagat Singh Martyrdom Celebations: Over 40 Students, staff and

management of Lyallpur Khalsa College remembered Shaheed Bhagat Singh on

23-03-2016 at on his Martyrdom day in a brief function held in the college campus.

Paying tribute to the martyr, Sardarni Balbir Kaur President College Governing

Council said that it was the duty of the countrymen to remember their martyrs and

added that functions like this could help one in relating one to one’s traditions and

roots. Students carried out a procession in the college campus with slogans on

national unity. Patriotic songs were also presented on this occasion.

Sukhmani Sahib path in the beginning of session: The students and staff at

Lyallpur Khalsa College paid their obeisance on the occasion of Sukhmani Sahib

Path held in the college Gurudwara on 18.07.2016 as a part of beginning of the

session. The events of the day included the recitation of Kirtan by Bhai Sarabjeet

Singh Shant Hazuri Ragi Sri Darbar Sahib Sri Amritsar. Following the tradition,

Langar was served to one and all at this time. Over 350 students were presented on

this occasion along with the faculty members of the college.

Teez celebration in Girls Hostel: As a part of Punjabi culture and tradition, the

students in Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated the festival of Teej in the College

campus on 20.07.2016. In a brief yet impressive function presided over by

Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, girls students of the college performed

Punjabi folk songs and Punjabi folk dance Gidha.

Cross Country Race: Centre for youth affairs and youth club organized a Cross

Country Race on 05.08.2016. In this race over 90 participants were participated.

Independence Day celebration: Lyallpur Khalsa College, Celebrated

Independence Day which was organized College N.C.C. Department (Army and

Air Wing) and Social Sensitization Club various activities on the theme of

patriotism were conducted to mark the occasion on 14.08.2016. Above 150 Student

participated in Rangoli competition and poster making in large number. The NCC

cadets gave the March Past and saluted the Principal. A rally was also organized

which marched through the campus to encourage students and fill them up with

patriotic fervour. The oath was also taken by the staff members, NCC Cadets and

Azadi 70 fortnight celebration: Fortnight celebration of ‘Azadi 70’ was

organized by the students of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar from 09.08.2016 -

23.08-2016. The students of the institute collected near the principal office at 11:00

a.m. on 23 August along with the posters on patriotic themes. During the fortnight

celebration which started on 9th August, the college conducted various activities

under the broad theme of patriotism.

15 day Cleanliness Drive: The 15 day cleanliness drive organized under Swatchh

Bharat Abhiyan from 09.08.2016 – 24.08.2016 here at Lyallpur Khalsa College by

the Social Sensitization Club of the college. The drive focused on sensitizing

students towards the importance of cleanliness and sanitation in the

neighbourhood. About 86 students were participated in this drive.

Teacher Day Celebration: Students of different departments at Lyallpur Khalsa

College expressed their gratitude towards their teachers on 05.09.2016 on the

occasion of Teacher's Day. As a part of the celebrations, poems and speeches

focused on teachers were presented by the students. Speaking on the occasion, the

college principal Dr GS Samra said that the role of a teacher in a student's life was

very much significant and the fate of a nation greatly depended on its teachers.

Celebrated the birthday of Shaheed Bhagat Singh: Students, staff and

management of Lyallpur Khalsa College remembered Shaheed Bhagat Singh in a

brief function held in the college campus to mark the birth anniversary of the

Poster Making Competition on Drug Addiction: To spread awareness against

Drug Abuse, the Youth Club of Lyallpur Khalsa College organized Poster Making

and Cartooning competition on 03.10.2016 in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club

in which over 70 students participated.

Organized poster making competition on Zoonotic Diseases: A poster making

competition was organized by the Department of Zoology and Botany on the

theme ‘Zoonotic Diseases’ on 05.10.2016. Dr. Charanjeet Sarangal from RDDL,

Jalandhar was the resource person on this occasion. Twenty five students were

participated in this event.

Technical Skill Burster: Students from various departments displayed their

technical skill and expertise in Bruster-2016 an Inter-Departmental competition

organised by the Computer Science and IT department of Lyallpur Khalsa College

on 08.10.2016. Total seven competitions were held under this banner which

included ‘Know your Brain Level’, Digital Poster making, Modelling, Dance, IT

Quiz etc. Over 200 students showed their talent in this event.

Essay writing competition on Birth Anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi: On the

occasion of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, an essay writing competition

was organized on 01.10.2016 in the college in which students wrote essays on the

life and teachings of the father of nation. The function was organized by the P.G.

Department of History of the college the event had the participation of over 40

students.

Eco- friendly Diwali Celebration[Decorated with Diyas, Candles and floral

rangoli]: Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated the festival of Diwali in eco friendly

manner on 30.10.2016. On this occasion, college was decorated with diyas, candles

and floral rangoli. Over 50 students were participated in this event.

Spectrum 2016: Spectrum-2016 was organized on 09.10.2016 by Mendelev

Society of PG Department of Chemistry. Eight different competitions were

conducted in it and there was a huge number of participation Lyallpur Khalsa

College and other colleges of Khalsa group. Approximately over 120 students were

participated in this event which featured activities like pot painting, clay modeling,

rangoli phulkari making, paper reading and chemistry quiz.

Parkash Utsav Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji: The students and staff at Lyallpur

Khalsa College paid their obeisance on the occasion of Sehaj Path held in the

college Gurudwara on as a part of Gurupurab celebrations of Parkash utsav Shri

Guru Nanak Dev Ji in November . The events of the day included the recitation of

Kirtan by Bhai Harjeet Singh Shant Hazuri Ragi Sri Darbar Sahib Sri Amritsar.

Rangoli competition on Disability Day: A Rangoli making Competition was

organised on 03.12.2016 by the Department of Physiotherapy at Lyallpur Khalsa

College Jalandhar. The topic of this Rangoli making Competition was Disability,

Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy. 65 students of 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th year of the

dept. participated in it.

Annual Alumni Meet 2016

The Annual S. Balbir Singh Alumni Meet-2016 was held on December 5, 2016. A

noted alumnus of the college, S. Mohinder Singh, (Senior Scientist Burkley

University U.S.A) came as the special chief guest for this momentous occasion. S.

the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the College Principal Dr. GS Samra said that the

institution owed a lot to the visionary guidance of SardarBalbir Singh for its

current status. He also informed that Mandeep Singh Jamsher a former student of

the college has announced an annual grant of Rs. 50,000 to the needy students of

the college. A cultural program including Songs, Poetry recitation, Skits were also

presented by the staff and students of the college.

Environmental protection awareness drive: Youth welfare club of Lyallpur

Khalsa College, Jalandhar on 05.02.2017 organised an awareness drive on

Environmental protection. The aim of this drive was to empower the youth of

Punjab and create awareness regarding environmental preservation. About 86

students were participated in this drive. The event was celebrated with presentation

of a short play on the theme of Environment protection.

FITNESS@IT: The playgrounds of Lyallpur Khalsa College were overfilled on

08.03.2017 with students of the PG Department of Computer Science & IT giving

played between teachers and students. The chief guest of the occasion was S.

Karamjit Singh Rai, Former Professor of Biological Science at the University of

Notre Dame, Indiana, USA.

Synergy-2017: Following the traditions of PG Department of Commerce and

Business Administration of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, 16th Annual Inter

College Academic and Cultural festival “SYNERGY 2017” was started with great

pomp and splendor on 26.02.2017. In this two day Mega event organized by

students and staff of Commerce Department, around 182 students from 14

Colleges /Management Institutes participated in 11 events of first day which are

related with Fine Arts, Literary and Sports viz Painting, Poster Making, Collage

Making, Cartooning, Rangoli, Clay Modeling, Declamation, Slogan Writing, Three

Leg Race, Matka Race and Spoon Race.

International Women's Day (March 17): The Post Graduate Department of

English, Lyallpur Khalsa College organized an impressive function to celebrate

International Women’s Day on 11.03.2017. The two day function started with

competitions such as Poster Making, Calligraphy and a cooking without fire

competition exclusively for boys. Over 75 students participated in these events

which were minutely judged by a panel of judges from various departments of the

college. The winners and all the participants were awarded prizes and certificates

as token of engorgement.

International yoga day celebration: the cultural heritage of the country in context

of Yoga was celebrated in the form of Yoga day celebration on 21st June, 2017.

28.07.2017. Social Sensitization club organised cultural events so that students

should come forward and show case their talents. Around 50 students participated

with great enthusiasm in Mehndi competition, Jhulla Decoration and Jewellery

Designing. Prof. Jaswinder Kaur, Dr. Jaswant Kaur and Prof. Sandeep Bassi

adjudged the competitions

EPOCH-2017: Students at Lyallpur Khalsa College highlighted the significance of

national unity and integrity through Epoch 2017 on 11.08.2017; an inter

department program consisting of Poetry, Painting, Card making and Patriotic

Song Competitions. Organized by the Zoology and Botany Department of the

college, these competitions saw 150 students’ participation with full vigor while

Prof. GS Buttar, Prof. Suman Chopra, Prof. SS Bains, Prof. Sukhdev Singh and

Prof. Jyoti Sharma performed the judgment duties for the same. A special cultural

exhibition was also held on this occasion wherein students displayed Punjabi

outfits and cultural items in their traditional colors.

Essay Writing competition on the eve of Independence day (Hindi

Department): An Essay Writing competition on the on the theme of Freedom

Struggle was organized by the Department of Hindi on 14.08.2017 in the seminar

hall on the occasion of Independence Day. Over 30 students participated in this

competition.

Independence Day Celebration: The College commemorated the Independence

Day by organizing a Rangoli Making competition on the theme of Patriotism on

14.08.2017. Social Sensitization club of the college took this initiative and

encouraged the students from all the streams to actively participate in the

competition. Over 55 students were participated in this competition. Dr. Suman

Chopra and Dr. Rashpal Sandhu adjudged the competition.

Poetry Recitations, Fancy dress Competition and one act play: A Poetry

Recitations, Fancy dress Competition and one act play competition was organized

by the PG Department of English on 19.08.2017 in the seminar hall. Over 100

students were participated in these competitions. Winners were awarded with

prizes by the principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra.

Teachers Day Celebration: The students of Computer Science and IT department

of Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated Teachers Day on 05.09.2017. On this

occasion senior students acted as teachers before the junior students of the

department and shared their views and opinions about the college. Skits were

presented by the students.

Technical Skill Burster 2017: To boost up the technical and competitive skills of

students, PG Department of Computer Science and IT, Lyallpur Khalsa College

organized Technical Skill Burster 2017 on 14.09.2017. Under this event, various

competition (collage making and poster making) on the theme ‘Impact of GST’

organised by Economics department of the college on 19.09.2017. More than 100

students from different colleges participated in both the competitions.

Poster making competition on the occasion of World Peace and Non Violance

Day: The Youth Club of Lyallpur Khalsa College organized a Poster Making

Competition to mark the occasion of International Peace and Non Violance Day

on 21.09.2017. College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra graced the program

as the chief guest and honored the victorious students of the competition. In the

poster making competition around 70 students participated and showed their talent.

Gandhi ke Sapno Ka Bharat organized by P.G. Department of History: Post

Graduate Department of History, Lyallpur Khalsa College organised a function

Gandhi ke sapnon ka Bharat on 29.09.2017 written and directed by Dr. Suman

Chopra to commemorate the birthday of the Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi.

Students depicted the ideology of Gandhiji by making jhankis on the themes of

Ahimsa, Sarvodya, Swadeshi, Unity and Equality and Swachh Bharat. Students

made sketches of Gandhiji. Gandhiji’s life had been presented in chronological

order through collage work. Over 100 students were participated in this event.

IT Spark 2017: The event IT Spark started under the aegis of PG Department of

Computer Science and Information Technology on 12.10.2017. Sardarni Balbir

Governing Council and College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra formally

opened the event for the students. The event had active participation of 530

students from various classes of the department under the name of seven different

houses i.e. Chrome, Omega, Turing, Abacus, Sigma, Zigbee and Gopher. The

students participated in 21 different competitions which ranged from IT Skill based

items to cultural competitions in the category of Punjabi folk song and folk dance.

Spectrum 2017: The Mendeleev Society of Chemistry organised Spectrum-2017

on 17.10.2017, an inter-college competition to celebrate the festival season by

organizing seven academic –cultural events which included paper reading, quiz,

slogan writing, clay modeling, rangoli, still photography and painting. The

Principal, Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra congratulated the PG Department of

chemistry and encouraged participants for bringing out their best talents. The

events were witnessed by 85 students of the college.

Essay writing competition on Main Swachhata Ke Liye Kya Karunga/Karungi

organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra on collaboration with Lyallpur Khalsa

College, Jalandhar: Lyallpur Khalsa College in accordance with the Jalandhar

wing of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department of the Government of India held

an Essay Writing Competition taking up the theme of ‘Main Swachhata Ke Liye

Kya Karunga/Karungi’ on 15.11.2017 to mark the establishment day of Nehru

Yuva Kendra. Over 60 students from various clubs of the city actively participated

in the competition.

Poetry and Story Writing Competition (Punjabi Department): A special

interactive program on Punjabi poetry was organised in Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar on 24.11.2017 in which the noted Canadian Punjabi poet Krishan Bhanot

informed the students on the theme ‘writing poetry’. In this programme organized

by the Punjabi Sahit sabha of the college, the speaker Mr. Bhanot gave details on

process of creation, the technique of Ghazal and also on his own poems.

Organized World Cerebral Palsy Day[ Rangoli and Skits were performed]:

The Department of Physiotherapy, Lyallpur Khalsa College organized a special

program to mark the International Cerebral Palsy Day on 11.10.2017 which was

participated in as the chief guest by Mr. Vivek Joshi, a special personality tackling

Cerebral Palsy for years. Rangolis and skits were performed on this occasion and

about 85 students were present on this occasion.

Ekta Diwas: National Unity Day/Ekta Diwas was celebrated on 31.10.2017 to

mark the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel. The event was organized by the Social

Sensitization club of the college, the event included oath taking to maintain

National Unity and integrity, show of a documentary on Sardar Patel in addition to

March past by NCC wings of the college. About 78 Students and staff members of

the college participated in the symbolic Run for Unity.

Cross Country race on the occasion of National Sports Day: On the occasion of

National Sports Day Centre for youth Affairs and youth club organized a Cross

Country Race on 25.11.2017. In this race over 90 participants were participated

alongwith faculty members.

S. Balbir Singh Alumni meet -2017: Over 250 old students including

educationists, sportspersons, scientists and Scholars, participated in Sardar Balbir

Singh Alumni meet on 05.12.2017. Students ranging from batches of 1948’s to

2000 have participated in the meet organized on the occasion of 78th Birth

Anniversary of Sardar Babir Singh, the former member parliament and former

president of College Governing Council and also an alumnus of the college.

Various cultural events performed by the college alumni added charm to the event

which included Bhangra and Gidha performance by college students besides

Mouth Organs and Tabla playing by the Alumni in the function.. Old students of

the college Dr. Mohinder Singh (M.D.) and S.Barinder Singh (State awardee

Social worker of batch 1982-85) shared their experiences and presented their views

about the college.

Rangoli competition on Disability Day: A Rangoli making Competition was

organised on 13.12.2017 by the Department of Physiotherapy at Lyallpur Khalsa

College Jalandhar. The topic of this Rangoli making Competition was Disability,

Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy. 65 students of 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th year of the

dept. participated in it.

Parkash Utsav Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji: The students and staff at Lyallpur

Khalsa College paid their obeisance on the occasion of Sehaj Path held in the

college Gurudwara on as a part of Gurupurab celebrations of Parkash utsav Shri

Guru Gobind Singh Ji on January 08, 2018. The events of the day included the

recitation of Kirtan by Bhai Baljeet Singh Shant Hazuri Ragi Sri Darbar Sahib Sri

Amritsar. Following the tradition, Langar was served to one and all at this time.

Lohri Celebration: The famous Punjabi cultural festival of Lohri was celebrated

with full colour and zest in Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar on 13.01.2018.

Various colorful facets of Punjabi culture and lifestyle were at display in this

impressive program put up by the joint efforts of College Governing Council,

Principal, Teaching and Non-teaching staff of the college. Over 200 students were

gathered on this occasion.

Organized paper reading, slogan writing and poster making competition on

the eve of National voters Day: Students and staff today at Lyallpur Khalsa

College celebrated National Voters Day on 25.01.2018 as per the directions of the

Election Commission of India. The occasion put together by the NSS Unit of the

college inspired the students to take an oath for the fair usage of the right to vote.

Paper reading, slogan writing and poster making competition was organized on the

eve of National voters Day and around 50 students were participated in these

competitions

Yoga Camp: A One week Yoga camp was organized in Lyallpur Khlasa College

03.02.2018 The purpose was to promote physical well being and to increase

concentration among students in addition to senstising them to their rich cultural

heritage. Almost 100 participants, including teachers and students, participated

with zeal and enthusiasm. The venture was taken up by social sensitization club

and women grievance cell. Many Yogasans like Taarasand, Paranayama, Surya

Namaskas and many more were practiced by the participants.

PLASMA 2018: IT Plasma 2018, an Annual Event Inter College Competition was

organized in Lyallpur Khalsa College by in P.G. Department of Computer Science

& IT on 24.02.2018. In this competition, 423 students of 20 colleges from various

etc. participated in 19 events including Tech GD, Ad mad Show, Web Portal

Development, software showcase, Debugging, Logo Designing, Logic Whirlpool,

Test Your Technical Skills, Hands on Keyboard Net Savvy, IT Cartooning, Pixel

Plus, Idea Snapshots, IT Extempore, IT Quiz, IT in Colors, IT Collage, Query

Maestro and Choreography in addition to rangoli and ghazal singing competitions,

The Chief Guest of the function was Rajinder Beri, MLA, Jalandhar Central.

Fitness@IT: PG Department of Computer Science & IT organized its annual

sports events ‘Fitness @ IT’ on 28.02.2018. In which around 295 students from

seven different houses of the department i.e. Sigma, Gopher, Abacus, Omega,

Chrome, Turing & Zigbee participated in various competitions like 100 meters

race, shot-put, sack race, long jump, three leg race, lemon race etc. Besides this,

tug of war and musical chair competitions were organized for staff members.

Inter Department Paper Reading Competition (English Department): A

Interdepartment Paper Reading competition was organized by the PG Department

of English, Lyallpur Khalsa College on 06.03.2017 in the seminar hall. Over 30

students were participated in this competition. Winners were awarded with prizes

from the principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra.

PSCST Chandigarh sponsored National Mathamatics Day celebration: A

special program was organized by the PG Department of Mathematics, Lyallpur

Khalsa College 16.03.2018 as a part of National Mathematics Day Celebrations.

The program comprised of competitions based on Quiz, Debate, Poster

Presentation, Rangoli, Model and Power Point Presentations. Eminent

Mathematician Dr. R.R. Sinha was the Chief Guest of the occasion and he was

duly welcomed to the college with a bouquet of flowers by Principal Dr Gurpinder

Singh Samra along with Dr. Santokh Singh, Head of the College Mathematics

Department. The program saw participation of 250 students from 15 colleges of the

region.

National Science Day: The occasion of National Science Day 2018 was celebrated

on 31.03.2018 at Lyallpur Khalsa College through an impressive collaboration by

the Science Departments of the college in association with the Punjab State

Council for Science and Technology. Dr. Narpinder Singh, Research Director Guru

Nanak Dev University was the Chief Guest for the program. Around 150 students

from various colleges of the region participated in events such as Quiz, Poster

Making, Scientific Rangoli and Power Point Presentations. The programme ended

with presentation of Punjabi folk dance Bhangra.

Essay writing competition on What Will I Do for Cleanliness: An essay writing

competition on the theme ‘What Will I Do for Cleanliness’ was organised by the

NSS department of the college on 03.04.2018. Over 30 students were participated

in this competition. Winners were awarded with prizes from the principal Dr.

Gurpinder Singh Samra.

Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Arjan Dev ji : Martyrdom Day of Shri Guru Arjan

Devji was celebrated in Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar on 30.05.2018 wherein

Bhog of the Sehaj Path was held, followed by chabeel and Guru Ka Langer served

to one and all.

International Yoga Day Celebration: 38 students of college along with 12

volunteers from the staff conducted a Yoga Camp from 21st June, 2018 to 26th

June, 2018 in context of Yoga Day Celebrations. The Yoga instructor conducted

and explained the various ‘Asanas/Mudras’ of Yoga as essential healthy practices.

Guru Purnima Celebrations : Department of Music celebrated Guru Purnima on

28 July 2018 in which 25 students participated in various music items such as tabla

playing, folk song, folk orchestra and ghazal singing.

Teej Festival: Popular Punjabi cultural festival of ‘Teej’ was celebrated in the

premises of the college on 4th August, 2018. On this occasion, Gidha, Songs,

Group dance and Solo dance were presented along with the main message of

highlighting the immense success attained by the women folklore of Punjab in

almost every field of events. The program saw a mammoth participation of 292

students.

Talent Hunt: Department of Music Organised Talent Hunt on 10 August 2018 in

which 28 students participated. On this occasion students showed their talents in

activities such as painting and installation, clay modeling, cartooning, rangoli,

phulkari making, photography, vaar singing, folk song, geet and ghazal, poetical

recitation debate etc.

Independence Day Celebration: Independence Day was celebrated with great

enthusiasm and patriotic fervor on 14.08.2018 by the staff and students to mark the

anniversary of our freedom from the British rule. On this special occasion, the

programme enlightened the students and urged them to take pride in being an

Indian and fulfilling one’s duty with responsibility. A total number of 174 studnets

participated in pledge taking ceremony regarding national integration. In addition

the cultural activities like patriotic group songs, choreography on the life of

martyrs and poetry recitation was presented.

Raksha Bandhan Celebration: A competition on the occasion of Raksha

Bandhan was organised on 25thAugust 2018 by Social Sensitization Club.

Students of different departments overwhelmingly participated in the Rakhi

Making, Thali Making, Rakhi card making, Gift wrapping, Origami, Clay

Modelling, Rangoli, Toran making competitions. Around 68 students participated

in the event .

Teachers day Celebration: The students of Computer Science and IT department

of Lyallpur Khalsa College celebrated Teachers Day on 05.09.2018. On this

occasion senior students acted as teachers before the junior students of the

department and shared their views and opinions about the college.

Technical Skill Burster: Students from various departments displayed their

technical skill and expertise in Bruster-2016 an Inter-Departmental competition

organised by the Computer Science and IT department of Lyallpur Khalsa College

from 08.09.2018 to 15.09.2018. Total seven competitions were held under this

banner which included ‘Know your Brain Level’, Digital Poster making,

Modelling, Dance, IT Quiz etc. Over 450 students were show their talent in this

event. The event also included cultural activities Bhangra and Gidha at the end of

the event.

S. Bhagat Singh Birthday Celebrations: Students, staff and management of

Lyallpur Khalsa College remembered Shaheed Bhagat Singh in a brief function

held in the college campus to mark the birth anniversary of the martyr on

27.09.2018. This function was organized by Department of History and over 100

students were present on this occasion. Poetry recitation on the theme of life and

Philosophy of Bhagat Singh was organized in addition to elocution contest on the

topic Relevance of the Thinking of Bhagat Singh in present times.

Spectrum2018: Mendeleev Society of Chemistry Department, Lyallpur Khalsa

College, Jalandhar organised its Annual function Spectrum 2016 on 11.10.2018.

225 students participated in six academic and cultural competitions during this

event. These included Dry flower arrangement, clay modeling, landscape painting,

poster making, slogan writing and quiz contests.

IT Spark 2018: The event IT Spark started under the aegis of PG Department of

Computer Science and Information Technology on 12.10.2018 and 13.10.2018.

Sardarni Balbir Kaur, President, Governing Council, Lyallpur Khalsa College was

the Chief Guest of the starting session who along with S. Jaspal Singh Wraich,

General Secretary, Governing Council and College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh

Samra formally opened the event for the students. The event had active

participation of 450 students from various classes of the department under the

name of seven different houses i.e. Chrome, Omega, Turing, Abacus, Sigma,

Zigbee and Gopher. At the end of the programme Punjabi folk dances Bhangra and

Gidha were performed by the participants.

Basant Panchami Celebration: Basant Panchami festival was organized on

10.02.2019 by the Department of Punjabi. On this event Gidha, Songs, Group

dance and Solo dance were presented along with the Kite flying. Over 150 students

were gathered in this occasion of Basant Panchami.

Fitness@IT 2019: The playgrounds of Lyallpur Khalsa College were overfilled on

09.03.2019 with students of the Department of Computer Science giving a

performance of their athletic prowess in ‘Fitness @IT’, the departmental sports

event. Involving the participation of around 400 students of different classes of the

department, the event included activities like March Past followed by competitions

in sports activities such as 100 meter race, Kho-Kho, relay race, shot-put, three

legged race sack race and Lemon of the eight houses of the department Crome was

declared the Overall Winner, Gopher house declared second and Omega House

declared Third. The cricket match played between teaching and students.

Inter-department competition on poster making and collage making: An inter

departmental competition on Poster making and collage making was organized by

Department of Economics on 21st February, 2018 in which more than 40 students

from various disciplines participated.

Gandhi Jayanti: PG Department of History organised a patriotic event on 1st

October, 2018 to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of

Nation. With a great patriotic fervor, 75 students from different departments

participated in essay writing and poster making competitions. The theme of the

competitions underlined the ideals of Non-violence, Satyagraha, Truth, Sarvodaya,

Swachh Bharat, Communal Harmony etc. and their relevance in the present times.

Dusshera Celebrations: Dusshera was celebrated in the college campus on 19-10-

2018. On this occasion the win of truth over evil, students were felt enthusiastic

and enjoyed a lot, burning the ravana inside every person, they were motivated to

live a life with path of truth. Over 150 students were gathered on this event of

Dusshera.

International Day of Peace: The International Day of Peace was observed in the

college campus on 21 September, 2018. 54 Students were a part of this program

wherein they were duly informed about the Peace Day which aims provides a

globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and

to contribute to building a Culture of Peace. Poster making competition was

organized on the occasion

National Unity Day: About 45 student speakers expressed their views on

Contribution of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel for Unity, Safety and Security of India

on the occasion of National unity Day celebration in the college by virtue of a

declamation. It was followed by an Oath Ceremony, wherein the students and

teachers took a pledge to stand for Unity and Integrity of the country.

Communal Harmony Flag Day: Communal Harmony Flag Day was duly

observed from the 18th to 25th November 2018 with enthusiasm and fervor.

Publicity materials like Flag stickers, wrappers, posters, brochures, pamphlets etc.

were dispatched to by 35 participating students thereby appropriately marking this

significant occasion all over the campus. The event also included one act play on

National Integration.

World Physiotherpy Day: World Physiotherapy Day was celebrated by the

Department of Physiotherapy on 11th December 2018. This program was based on

the recognition of Physiotherapy as a Science. As per the proceedings of this

program, an impressive rally was carried out in the college campus which saw the

participation of 65 students. A skit were presented on the theme of rehabilitation of

patients of physiotherapeutic problems.

Green Diwali Celebration: The Department of Physiotherapy celebrated Green

Diwali on 6th November, 2018 by planting saplings in the college campus while

also expressing concern on the rising levels of pollution in the atmosphere which

are heavily contributed by the burning of crackers on occasions such as Diwali. A

choreography was presented on the theme. The concept of green Diwali and

environment awareness was suggested as the new means of celebrating Diwali

which truly represents a unified occasion of the masses. The occasion was also

witnessed by the entire faculty and 55 students of the department of physiotherapy.

National Sports Day-2018: National Sports Day was celebrated on 29.08.2018

which is dedicated to legendary Hockey icon Major Dhyanchand. The event

included a cross country race participated in by 110 students of the college.

Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra was the cheif guest on this occasion.

Lohri Festival: The festival of Lohri was celebrated in the college campus on 12-

01-19. Celebrated along Punjabi tradition the event included lighting of Lohri

bonfire along with folk presentations such as Bhangra, Gidha, and lokgeet by the

students. Over 250 students were gathered on this event of Lohri.

Republic Day Celebration: The College organized a special function marking the

occasion of National Republic Day on 25-01-2019. 92 students participated in the

events such as patriotic group songs, choreography and poster making on the

theme of unity. The event also included National Voters day celebrations. Staff

and students combining to take oath regarding their duties to the nation.

Sardar Balbir Singh Alumni Meet-2018: The college organized Sardar Balbir

Singh Alumni meet -2018 on 5 December 2018 on the occasion of 80th Birth

Anniversary of Sardar Balbir Singh, the former Member Parliament and former

President of College Governing Council and also an alumnus of the college. S.

Sukhi Bath, the founder of Sukhi Bath Foundation acted as the chief guest for the

meet in which 278 alumni participated. The highlights of the programme were

Ghazal Singing , folk song , Bhangra and Gidha presentation by the ex-students of

the college.

Nukkad Natak: As part of International Women’s Day Celebrations, English

Department organised a Nukkad Natak on 8 March 2019. Around 35 students were

participated in this event.

Holi Celebrations: The festival of Holi was celebrated in the college campus on

20-03-2019. Celebrated the festival of colours various activities like Dance, Songs

etc. were performed by the students. Over 220 students were gathered on this event

of Holi.

Organized special program on Martyrdom Day: Postgraduate Department of

History observed the 88th Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shivram

Rajguru and Sukhdev on 23.03.2019. On this occasion, students and teachers paid

rich tributes to the revolutionaries who were hanged by the British on 23 March,

1931 for their alleged involvement in the killing of John Saunders – the then

assistant superintendent of police. As a part of the program, students staged a short

play related with the life of Bhagat Singh. Art works such as posters, collage and

sketches on the revolutionaries made by 86 students of the college were displayed

on this occasion.

Friendly Cricket Match- Teaching vs. Non-teaching: As a token of support to

the Indian Cricket team in the world cup, a friendship cricket match was played on

25.03.2019 in Lyallpur Khalsa College, between Teaching and Non teaching

eleven. As a result, Non-Teaching Eleven Wins this Friendly Cricket Match in

Khalsa College.

Annual Athletic Meet-2019: Over 350 students displayed their fitness and

atheletic skills in the 67rd Annual Athletic Meet of the Lyallpur Khalsa College on

26.03.2019. The event saw participation students of the different wings of the

College such as Arts, Sciences, Commerce, Computers, and Physiotherapy in

events like 100 mts Race, Short Put Throw, Long Jump, and Relays tug of war 100

meter race and tug of war between teaching and non teaching staff.

Yoga Camp: In continuation with previous years , a Yoga Camp was organized

from 21st June, 2018 to 26th June, 2018 a sports, fitness and cultural activity. 25

students of college along with 15 volunteers participated in the camp. During the

camp the participants were informed about various relevant yoga asnas.

Punjabi Lok Naach Camp 18: The latest edition of the annual Punjabi Folk

Dance Camp was enthusiastically carried out from 28th June to 7th July, 2019. The

camp initiated by College Governing Council with the aim of connecting the youth

to the rich cultural heritage of Punjab and subsequently keeping their away from

prevalent ailments of the present scenario saw an overwhelming registration of

over 450 participants receiving free of cost coaching of folk dances as per the

program.

Fete – 2019: 'Fete-2019', was successfully organised in the college campus on

23.09.19. Chaudhary Santokh Singh, Member Parliament and S. Gurmeet Singh,

DCP Punjab Police acted as the Chief Guests for different sessions. Folk Song

performances on this colorful occasion were presented by renowned artists

Davinder Dayalpuri and Manna Mand. Lucky Draw prizes including Refrigerator,

Washing Machine and Air Conditioner as the top three prizes were announced on

the occasion. Various Departments of the college registered their presence through

their stalls. Stage on this occasion was managed by Prof. Gopal Singh Buttar, Dr.

Surinder Mand, Prof. Mansi Chopra and Dr. Sukhdev Singh Nagra.
