parkIngThe Phoenician resort has both self-parking and valet parking available. If you drop your car off at the front of the hotel it will automatically go into valet in the Phoenician parking area at a rate of $29 per day. Self-parking is complimentary and available only in the underground garage, which is located off the main entrance (on the right side) by the Camelback ballroom, where our meeting will be held. In addition to being free, one of the advantages to self-parking is that you don’t have to wait for your car when the valets are busy. A drawback might be that you may have to walk a little further to the underground parking area (depending on where your room is located in the hotel).

monday, January 20 Welcome Reception—The Venue ScottsdaleCamelback Plaza at 6:15 pm

In the heart of old Scottsdale is an unusual event facility called The Venue. Previously a New Orleans-themed restaurant, the interior is an intriguing mix of both intimate and grand spaces that lend themselves more to a roving cocktail party than to a sit-down dinner. In keeping with this disparate juxtaposition of architectural embellishments, the theme for this evening is a “mash-up” of a Harley biker bar and Teatro Zinzanni-inspired entertainment. As you move from space to space within The Venue, you’ll encounter “a moveable feast” of hearty gastro-pub fare to be eaten out-of-hand, and interactive entertainment that will leave you wondering what will happen next (and to whom)! Dressing for the biker bar theme is optional but comfortable shoes are a must because this is not a sedentary event and there is limited seating.

Wednesday, January 22 Blue Sky Riders in Concert with Kenny Loggins, Georgia Middleman and Gary BurrCamelback Ballroom at 8:30 pm

There is much to be said about this evening’s entertainment and their many accomplishments as singer/songwriters prior to forming the band, Blue Sky Riders. This musical trio consists of soft-rock icon Kenny Loggins—with hits that include Danny’s Song, Footloose, Danger Zone and Nobody’s Fool—and Nashville’s most accomplished singer-songwriters Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman—who have written songs for Juice Newton, Wynonna Judd, Kelly Clarkson, Ricky Martin, Christina Aguilera, Keith Urban, Tracy Lawrence and Sarah Buxton—and that’s just naming a few. The most important thing to say is this is a concert not to be missed! Doors open at 8:30 pm; we recommend arriving on time to secure your seat.

Kapena De Lima’s Piano BarCamelback Plaza at 8:30 pm

Prepare to be whisked away to the islands of Hawaii while listening to the sweet sounds of singer/pianist Kapena De Lima. Kapena, nicknamed “Pena Boy” and named after his father’s legendary group, Kapena, began playing the piano at age 5. By the time he was 10 he joined his father’s band and by age 11 he was the keyboard player for the group, The Next Generation, where they shortly recorded and released their first album. Kapena has since ventured on his own, playing gigs throughout Waikiki, where Suzanne and Dr. Cohen first heard his voice soaring over an acoustic piano in the entrance of the Moana Surfrider. At that moment, they knew, they had to bring this guy to Symposium!

The Marley Taylor Trio CaféCamelback Ballroom at 8:30 pm

Pack your dancing shoes and join us for a night of high-energy, Top 40 dance, reggae and classic rock with the Marley Taylor Trio! This band is made up of bassist Chris de Herrera, singer and keyboardist Dan Lovelock and lead vocalist Marley Taylor, former Zowie Bowie member.
