INFRASTRUCTURE

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Infrastructure market ●Facilities management

●Transportation

●Energy

●Water/Wastewater

●Waste management

● It´s also:

●Governance infrastructure

●Military infrastructure

●Economic infrastructure

●Social infrastructure

●Cultural, sports and recreational infrastructure

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Challenges in the Infrastructure area

Increasing energy costs Bigger cities, more people Water supply crisis

Doing more with less Increased investments Real-time information access

SMART CITIES

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Our Cities Today

•They are built and running –

need to use “as is”

• “Islands of isolation”

• Information not available in

real time

•Lack agility to accommodate

the unpredicted

2014 Software Global Client Conference

What can happen in those cities

●Bad weather conditions (storm) poorly managed – lack of trustable

forecast and communication (city services and citizens)

●Heavy rain impacting: ● Waste water treatment (too much to absorb)

● Road traffic (floods impacting traffic)

● Rail transport

● Power supply capabilities (power breaks due to lightning)

● ….. $$$$ and even …

Can’t change the weather but can better prepare and Manage the situation

2014 Software Global Client Conference

We need to connect the dots !

1900 10% of population lived in cities

2007 Population in cities exceeds countryside

2030 8.1 Billion citizens – 60% leaving in cities

2050 70% of the world's population will be living in cities

consuming the vast bulk of the world's resources

2014 Software Global Client Conference

• First Urban development project undertaken in Spain that is governed

entirely by bioclimatic criteria in line with environmental sustainability

Kyoto Protocol objectives. • To construct an integral remote control monitoring system for the city’s

urban services: electricity and gas supplies, street lighting, energy efficient

network in housing, environmental control network, drinking water supply

network, sewage and rainwater treatment network and watering systems.

• To analyze and evaluate the performance of each of the city’s operations

with the aim of complying with the environmental sustainability criteria

contained in the urban design plan.

City management and citizens can

use information to make intelligent

decisions about the running of

public services

2014 Software Global Client Conference

• National „Lighthouse“- research project of the German Federal

Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Developments

• Limited project for 2 years in a typical 1 family House (130 m2) for the Future tested with a 4 persons family

• Research for new materials (energy efficiency), new technologies,

new kind of living, mobility, energy usage and recycling

• Target is producing more energy than consumed

• More than 10 Research centers working

daily with Information captured by Wonderware System Platform

Town of Frankfurt • 700,000 inhabitants – one of the

biggest cities in Germany • The green city of Germany

• Financial Center of Germany

• The „Manhattan“ of Germany

2014 Software Global Client Conference

Town of Frankfurt

• 2,450 city buildings

• 40 years energy roadmap: reduce energy consumption by 50% and

only use renewable energy, 50% of savings being reinvested ... In

energy savings

• Best performing German City in energy consumption reduction (100

Mio. € savings since 1990)

• Using Wonderware System Platform since 2006 (largest buildings)

• In 2011: 6M$ Invested in
