Results of the 2013

Pet Sitting Business Owner Survey

In Feb 2014, we conducted the 2nd Annual Jump Consulting Pet Sitting

Business Owner Survey

In Feb 2014, we conducted the 2nd Annual Jump Consulting Pet Sitting

Business Owner Survey

This survey was spread through the Jump Consulting and PetSittingOlogy

email lists, and throughout various Fb pages, groups, and Linkedin.

We wanted to find the trends in our industry specifically comparing: •  Sole proprietors •  Employee businesses (EE)

•  Independent contractor businesses (IC)

HERE ARE OUR

RESULTS:

EE: Ics Sole Prop 2013 $109,389.76 $80,499.50 $28,942.56 2012 $96,333.33 $54,422.22 $28,745.49

EE: Ics Sole Prop 2013 $74,158.05 $52,162 $20,442.56 2012 $64,983 $39,865.40 $21,225.49

Businesses with Employees brought in more revenue and

more profits in 2013.

Interestingly, this is also the same trend we concluded in

2012.

We were also able to conclude that businesses with EE work

less in their business:

EE- 21.9 hrs per week IC – 28 hrs per week

Sole Prop – 24 hrs per week (average hours per week)

The majority of businesses admitted that their client

income level was medium or medium high.

“This could play into the fact that pet sitting and dog walking services is a luxury service and does cater and attract the more affluent community”
