163rd Allen County Fair packedwith new, better entertainment

LIMA The Allen County Fair is setto celebrate its 163rd year with the gatesopening Aug. 16 and runningthrough Aug. 24.

Allen County Fair ManagerDavid F. Grimm, CFE anOhio native who grew up inPort Clinton said that eventhough this is his first year pre-

siding over the Allen CountyFair, he has had 25 years expe-rience managing private fairs inBurlington, Vermont.

Its been a change workingfor a public fair, he detailed.There are many similarities.

Grimm said that there is a lot ofnew entertainment coming to thefair this year.

The all new teen show features AustinMahone and Bridgit Mendler, Grimm saidwith excitement. Thompson Square, who

just had a No. 1 Top 40 hit on the charts willalso be performing.

On Aug. 17, Austin Mahone and BridgitMendler will be in concert at 6:30 p.m. atthe Grandstand. Tickets are priced at $43and $39 and include all service charges.

On Aug. 18, Josh Turner and ThompsonSquare will be in concert at 8 p.m. in

the Grandstand. All tickets arereserved, tickets are $40 forAAA section, $37 for Tracksection, and $33 for Bleacheror Grandstand seating; tick-ets prices include all servicecharges.

There will be three brandnew grounds attractions includ-ing Tiger Talks, an entertain-ing and educational look ateight Bengal tigers; The FlyingPages, a family high wireact; and The Dazzling Mills

Family, a group of three talentedjugglers, unicyclists and acrobats

from Marion.Grimm said they have also freshened

The new show arena fans, which weredonated by Delphos and Lima businesses,will cool the animals and the spectators dur-ing the shows.

Im very impressed with how benevo-lent people are and willing to give from theheart to improve the fairgrounds, Grimmsaid.

The fair board also took a look at someelectrical improvements, per the sugges-

tions of the patrons.We have new lighting off the SR 309

entrance, Grimm detailed. Weve alsoadded lighting at four north commercialbuildings.

Many of the same events will be

back this year, including the KewpeeShowcase of Bands, Wrestling, WoodCarving, Demolition Derby, CheerleadingCompetition, Antique Tractor Pull, HarnessRacing, Truck Tug, Baton/Flag CorpCompetition and the Truck, Tractor & SemiSled Pull.

Well have over 30 rides at the carni-val, Grimm added.

Admission prices are free for kids 8years and younger and $7 for all othersattending.

The Allen County Fair is the best enter-

tainment bargain, Grimm said proudly. Afamily of four can spend all day at the fair including food for $50 or $60.

There are deals on rides for the kidsthrough the week during the afternoons.With Moonlight Madness kids can ridefrom 6 p.m. to midnight for $20 each.

Concert tickets are on sale at the fair-grounds box-office or may be purchasedonline at www.allencountyfairtickets.com,or by calling 419-228-7141.

Gate admission tickets can be pur-chased when buying concert tickets, mak-

ing it faster to enter the fair on concertnight.

The Allen County Fairis the best entertain-
