Ten years ago, on the 20th December 2003, skiers embarked for the first

time on the Vanoise Express (the world’s biggest cable car) to discover the

425km of pistes in the PARADISKI ski domain, linking the resorts of Les

Arcs/Peisey-Vallandry and la Plagne (Savoie-France) . The second biggest ski

domain in the world, PARADISKI is part of a group of very large interconnected

domains .

To celebrate this anniversary, PARADISKI has asked the haute-couture

designer, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, to decorate its Vanoise Express cable

car . The world-renowned artist and innovator will cover the two double-

decker Vanoise Express cable cars in a unique creation which will feature

throughout winter 2013/2014 .

This year PARADISKI is creating an event on the 16th December 2013

featuring PARADISKI GRAVITY . This will mark a world first in «highline»

(high altitude slack line) . The slack line will be strung between two cable cars

380m high . Two of the world’s best ‘high liners’, Julien Millot and Tancrede

Melet will negotiate their way along the rope, which will be suspended over

the valley between the two cable cars of the Vanoise Express, defying

gravity against an awesome backdrop!

The Vanoise Express cable car is at the heart of the Paradiski ski domain . It links the

key resorts of Les Arcs/Peisey-Vallandry and la Plagne taking you from one station

to the other in just four minutes at a speed of 45km/h; 12 .5 metres per second;

smoothly (there are no pylons) covering a distance of 1,824 metres in comfort and

absolute silence . The crossing drops 380 metres between stations since Peisey sits

at an altitude of 1612 metres whilst Coches is at a lower 1548m . The panoramic

cabins have two floors suspended above the picturesque Ponthurin valley and offer

the unique panorama of Mont Blanc, the Swiss and Italian Alps and the Beaufortain

massif . Built by POMA, the Vanoise Express is an ultra modern cable car and is one

of a kind in respect of its size, technology and in particular the fact that its comprises

two, separate engines on two separate cables allowing the cable cars to operate

independently of one another . Every cabin holds 200 people and there’s little risk of

a long wait either: these cable cars can turnover 4000 people per hour .

As part of its Birthday celebrations, Paradiski has entrusted the creative Jean-

Charles de Castelbajac with the awesome task of decorating the two panoramic,

double storey cable cars of the Vanoise Express . It was without hesitation that the

famous haute-couture designer and artist, known the world over, accepted the task

of creating a unique design to adorn the biggest cable car in the world . The result of

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac’s work for Paradiski will be unveiled on the 17th October

2013 at Paradiski’s Birthday party at the Musee Grevin, Paris .

From the 21st December 2013 and throughout this winter, thousands of Vanoise

Express passengers will see the unique design cloaking the cable cars in celebration

of its 10 years thanks to the French artist Jean-Charles de Castelbajac .

la Plagne, you have the choice of three modes of transport: the Bob-Raft is equipped

with an autoguide control and automatic brakes, will be ideal for a family of four . The

Bob-Raft hits speeds of up to 70-80km . With the Speed-Luge, you are alone, and

need to adopt a semi recumbent position in this streamlined luge . It’s well padded
