competitive and more discontent and more unhappy and unhealthy, and deforestation and pollution andclimate change and our ever-increasing reliance on pharmaceuticals and chemicals to live normal lives.

And I havent even spoken about those touchy issues like abortion and stem cell research and gay rights,and the existential questions like what is the purpose of life? What happens after death? Is there a God?What is consciousness? Do we have free will? These are fundamentally questions of ontology and rightand wrong and cannot be answered through science, and so we only have philosophy.
