"2012 Indian anti-corruption movement" is the successor of"2011 Indian anti-corruptionmovement". TheLeaderof this movement is asocial activistnamedAnna Hazare. One of themain demands of Anna Hazare led team, popularly known asTeam Annais establishing strongand independentjanlokpal, an anti-corruption legislation and enforcement body. On December

27, 2011,Lok Sabha, lower house of Indian parliament passed a controversial Lokpal Bill whichwas named under title of Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill 2011. The bill was dubbed byTeam Annaas a Government Lokpal Bill and not the bill they wanted. Before passing this bill it wasintroduced inLok Sabhawith key amendments moved. It was debated for 10 hours in the lowerhouse during which many opposition parties claimed that the bill was weak and asked thegovernment to withdraw it. After few amendments the bill was adopted by lok sabha. Howeverthe bill got stuck inRajya Sabha, the upper house ofIndian Parliamentand could not get passedduring the winter session of the parliament[10]After that government again reintroduced the billinRajya Sabhain February 2012 during the budget session of the Parliament, but the bill didn'tcome up for discussion and once again the session ended without lokpal bill being passed. LaterAnna Hazare declared to start the movement again. As a mark of protest he decided to sit on

hunger strike on 25 March 2012 for one day.[6]

Anna Hazare described his three week health regime that he underwent at a retreat in anaturopathy resort in Bangalore that helped him overcome his ailments. Hazare wasunwell since December and the fasting had obviously taken its toll. He was sufferingfrom high blood pressure, osteoporosis, arthritis and general swelling of the body.During this course, he stopped all medications he was taking for his various conditions.Not only is septuagenarian hale and hearty but he lost almost 5 kg as well. He wasdischarged 10 days ago but has stuck his to all-fruits regime since he left the resort.However, he will go back to solid food after a while. Anna followed a very strict regimewhereby he only ate fruits like apple, muskmelon, watermelon, date and papaya anddrank coconut water, soy milk and fruit juice. Furthermore, to maintain his sugar level,he ate after every three hours. In the morning, he took a 4-km walk, combined with

yoga. He also underwent deep tissue massages, acupuncture and Hydrotherapy.[11]
