AGC of Wisconsin

AGC of Wisconsin is one of the 95 chapters of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). AGC is the largest and oldest national construction trade association in the United States. Operating in partnership with its nationwide network of Chapters, AGC provides a full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its members, thereby improving the quality of construction and protecting the public interest.

AGC was established in 1918 after a request by President Woodrow Wilson. Wilson recognized the construction industry’s national importance and desired a partner with which the government could discuss and plan for the advancement of the nation. AGC has been fulfilling that mission for more than 90 years.

A full service national trade association with a nationwide network of exceptional chapters, AGC represents more than 32,000 leading firms in the industry – including general contractors, specialty contractors and service providers and suppliers. AGC members play a powerful role in sustaining economic growth, in addition to producing structures that add to productivity and the nation’s quality of life. AGC is truly the “voice and choice” of the construction industry.

AGC of Wisconsin…The Contractor’s Advantage

The mission of the Associated

General Contractors (AGC) of

Wisconsin is to provide services

of the highest quality and value

to its members to preserve and

improve skill, responsibility and

integrity in the industry. The AGC

of Wisconsin recognizes that the

membership – general contractors,

specialty contractors and associates

– is the most important asset of the

organization. The highly satisfied

chapter member is our most

important goal.

“Therefore—when we build let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight, nor for present use alone, let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for, and let us think as we lay stone on stone, that a time is to come when those stones will be held sacred, because our

hands have touched them and that men will say as they look upon the labor and the

wrought substance of them, ‘See! This our father did for us.’” - Ruskin

During 2011, over 1,500 employees completed safety training through AGC of Wisconsin.  These courses included OSHA 10 and 30 Hour, First Aid,  CPR, Forklift Classes, Competent Person Training in Trenching & Excavation, Scaffolding, Confined Space, and Fall Protection.

In 2011, 250+ attendees registered for Rigging and Signalperson qualification training in nine different locations. Qualification training is a requirement under the new OSHA Crane and Derrick standard. Along with the Rigging and Signalperson training, AGC conducted twelve week-long Professional Crane Operator classes, resulting in over 100 crane operators being certified. To the best of our knowledge, AGC of Wisconsin is the only chapter offering this service with on-staff personnel. We have assisted AGC chapters in Iowa and Kansas by offering this service; and have trained contractors in Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, and Oklahoma.

The AGC of Wisconsin sponsored the Advanced Safety Management Training Course (ASMTC) conducted by the AGC of America. The training was attended by over 25 participants from across the nation.

As part of the AGC member services, the safety department conducted over 50 jobsite safety audits and inspections. Audits and inspection are structured to replicate a surprise OSHA inspection. Upon completing each inspection the contractor is given a written inspection report detailing what actions need to be taken to comply with the OSHA regulations and avoid OSHA citations.

AGC…The Contractor’s Advantage for SAFTEY SERVICES

AGC of Wisconsin members benefit from access to two professional safety directors that service the safety and environmental requirements of its members. Safety services include:

Safety Training Classes and Seminars – Programs are held in locations throughout the state on an ongoing basis.

NCCCO Crane Certification OSHA 10 and 30 Hour CertificationGeneral Hazard Awareness Dealing with OSHA InspectionsScaffold TrainingRespirator TrainingHazard CommunicationsFall ProtectionConfined Space TrainingOverhead Power Line Hazard AwarenessTrenching and ExcavatingRigging & Signalperson Training

Jobsite Safety Training – AGC’s safety directors conduct safety training for members’ employees on jobsites and at member offices.

Annual AGC Safety & Education Day – This annual event features 6 hours of professionally led training at 6 different locations across the State.

Safety Audits and Inspections – AGC’s safety directors inspect member jobsites for OSHA violations and provide written reports on what action needs to be taken to comply with OSHA safety regulations and avoid citations. Inspections can be structured to replicate surprise OSHA visits and are a great way to educate site managers on the inspection process.

OSHA Citation Service – AGC’s safety directors represent cited members at OSHA informal and administrative hearings. Thanks to their knowledge and expertise AGC staff is very successful at getting fines and penalties reduced and even withdrawn.

Consulting Services – AGC’s safety and environmental specialists perform research and provide information, interpretation, and consultation on OSHA and DNR/EPA regulations for member contractors. They also assist in asbestos testing, in the development and implementation of company safety and hazard communications programs, and provide advice on all aspects of jobsite safety.

Safety Training Aids – AGC has a comprehensive catalogue of safety videotapes (including the nationally acclaimed Toolbox Talks series), handbooks, and training manuals on topics such as Construction Safety Competency Training, Fall Protection, and the Manual of Accident Prevention for Construction. Members can purchase their own copies at reduced rates or borrow from the chapter’s publications library at no charge.

Safety Management Training Course – AGC holds this nationally acclaimed five-day training course two-three times per year. The course is designed for construction safety managers and project supervisors who would benefit from an intensive week of construction safety management training. The course provides detailed instruction in the basic skills needed to perform the duties of a construction safety manager.

Liaison with State and Federal Regulatory Agencies – AGC staff in Madison and Washington, DC maintain close relationships with officials at state and federal regulatory agencies and ensure that the contractor’s voice is heard when new regulations are considered.

AGC... Keeping ‘Ahead of the Pack’ with Learning and Workforce Development

AGC of Wisconsin is recognized statewide for its innovative Workforce Development initiatives.  The association’s strategic plan places priority on Membership Development/Engagement and Becoming More Influential.  Education and Workforce Development played a key role 2011 in engaging members in the association and expanding our effectiveness in reaching-out to the future workforce.

Leadership AGCLeadership AGC, in its eighth year, continues to be a very successful initiative for our chapter and members.  The applicants accepted into the program this year meet once a month for nine months to develop the industry and personal knowledge that they need to succeed as leaders.  Leadership AGC participants also work on class projects that distinguishes AGC as the leader in Wisconsin’s construction industry.  Dave Brown (Tri-North Builders), a graduate of the 2009-2010 class of Leadership AGC served on the 2011 Board of Directors as the Leadership AGC appointee.

The 2010-2011 Class of Leadership AGC presented its’ challenging and critical class project at the Summer Membership Meeting.  The issue of Minority Business surfaced multiple times during the 2010 Strategic Planning session.  The lack of qualified minority business challenges our members that work on public projects, impacts our ability to meet projected workforce numbers and limits the potential for membership growth. With the support of the Board of Directors, the class proposed revisions to the State of Wisconsin Minority Business Enterprise definitions and requirements.  The proposal was well-received by the Division of State Facilities but is currently at a stand-still due to staff changes at the State. DSF continues to reaffirm their intention to work with AGC on the recommendations.  Congratulations Leadership AGC for great work on such a challenging topic!

Construction Skills Certificate ProgramLeadership AGC also takes credit for creation of the DPI Construction Skills Certificate Program, a co-op program that provides 475 hours of paid work experience to high school students interested in exploring construction careers.  In 2010, the AGC Construction Education Foundation approved spending up to $40,000 to reimburse student wages for students in the Marshfield-Wausau-Stevens Point area. Thank you to Ellis Stone Construction, Lewis Construction, Miron

Construction and The Samuels Group for employing the students during the last year. Partnerships with the Carpentry and Plumbing labor unions allowed the students to gain hands-on experience in the training center.  We need to encourage more of these partnerships in order to prepare the best and brightest for a future in our industry.

Construction Career Academies2011 was a landmark year for AGC’s Construction Career Academies (CCA). Burlington High School, Fond du Lac High School and Marshfield High School continue to develop their programs.  Two new CCAs in La Crosse and one in Tomah are preparing to enroll their first class in the Fall of 2012.

Burlington High School

New power tools for the 2011 graduates of Burlington’s ACE Academy made the year complete.  The ACE program was the proud winner of $6,000 in Construction Quest prize money from the AGC Construction Education Foundation for student videos focused on sustainability.  The program continues to expand and modify its offerings to meet students’ interest in Architecture, Construction and Engineering.

Fond du Lac High School

Fond du Lac has a total of 25 students in both the first and second year of the program.  A full day masonry experience with IMI and a tour of the Carpenter’s training center were popular new opportunities offered in 2011.  The students brought home $1,000 in Construction Quest prize money for their videos on sustainability in the construction industry. The administration at Fond du Lac High School remains committed to developing the Construction Career Academy and is working to incorporate Math and English into their program for Fall 2012.

LaCrosse School DistrictWith the support of AGC and Construction Professionals Association, LaCrosse will have two construction career academies in the Fall of 2012.  The program, which will be offered to Juniors in the first year, already has support from teachers in Engineering & Technology, Math and Business.  Utilizing local media and a brochure for prospective students, a good response is expected for the first year.

Marshfield High School

Marshfield High School’s ACE Academy continues offer a strong building trades program. AGC continues to

support the addition of core curriculum that applies construction industry relevance.  Long-time ACE head Ron Sturomski began the transition to a new position with the district and mentored new ACE Coordinator Aaron Scheuer.  Students built sheds that were available for sale in the community.

Tomah High School

The Tomah Area School District (TSAD), is in the process of implementing a construction career academy at Tomah High School (THS) for the 2012-2013 school year.  An advisory council made up of contractors from various construction-related industries within the local communities are working with teachers and administrators to develop new ways for blending core academic and elective classes as a means for generating relevant learning opportunities for future construction career academy students.  The school is also working with post-secondary institutions such as Milwaukee School of Engineering and Western Technical College to establish meaningful ways for construction career academy students to vertically align their high school studies with higher level learning institutions.

Education & DevelopmentThe AGC offers a very comprehensive selection of education programs to members and non-members.  In 2012, the AGC remained committed to bringing nationally developed programs to Wisconsin to meet the changing needs of the construction industry.

AGC Launches New BIM Curriculum—Prepare for the CredentialingAGC of Wisconsin is one of the first chapters in the country to offer all four units of AGC’s new BIM Education program.  The program is designed to give participants a broad understanding and essential knowledge on BIM terminology, technology, concepts, functionality, and legal and insurance issues.

The Certificate of Management – Building Information Modeling is the construction industry’s first and only BIM Certificate Program that teaches the practical application of the building information modeling process for commercial construction firms.

Project Manager Development Program (PMDP)The highly-interactive courses that comprise AGC’s training program for the emerging project manager has been successful in Wisconsin since its conception in 2009. Over 60 individuals have participated in the program and 14 have earned the completion certificate.  Congratulations to Kevin Fischer from Staab Construction Corporation for completing the series in 2011!

Supervisory Training Program (STP)AGC leads the nation in the number of graduates in the Supervisory Training Program.  In 2011 we offered STP in four locations and in-house for one contractor.  Wisconsin distinguishes itself from other chapters by being the largest sponsor of STP. Congratulations to the 29 individuals that graduated from the program in 2010.

AGC…The Contractor’s Advantage for Continuing the Tradition of Strong Bargaining On May 31st, 2011 six of the collective bargaining agreements negotiated by the AGC of Wisconsin expired after a three-year term.  With the exception of the Carpenters’ Union, AGC of Wisconsin representatives sat down to renegotiate with each of the basic trades.

Negotiation of collective bargaining agreements is a committee-driven process whereby signatory contractor members are granted an equal voice through participation in the AGC of Wisconsin Union Labor Relations Committee.  The Union Labor Relations Committee, headed by Chairperson Barry Scholz of The Boldt Company, meets on a regular basis to discuss industry issues, ongoing grievances and other matters particular to signatory contractors.

When collective bargaining agreements are opened for reconsideration, the Union Labor Relations Committee sets the policy and priorities for negotiation.  Furthermore, each collective bargaining agreement is negotiated by a subcommittee selected from Union Labor Relations Committee members.

In a down economy, the Union Labor Relations Committee predictably set economic issues as the top priority.  In addition to a wage package that reflects the amount of work available to signatory contractors, the Union Labor Relations Committee sought relief on other cost drivers such as defined benefit pension funds that are the retirement vehicle for most union-represented employees.

All of the trades recognized the need for a competitive wage package, and agreed to wage freezes in 2011 and increases of one to two percent in 2012 and 2013 (all of the contracts were renegotiated for a three-year term).  The defined benefit pension funds present a more complicated problem, and the AGC of Wisconsin negotiating committees had productive discussions with all of the trades towards a solution that provides for a secure retirement without the structural risk inherent in a defined benefit pension fund.

AGC of Wisconsin negotiating committees offered numerous value-added proposals to include in the new collective bargaining agreements, and met with success when a majority of the trades agreed to collaborate on the creation of an employee information database.  The employee information database, to be created by a joint labor-management committee, will collect apprenticeship,

training, safety and drug testing information on employees across the trades for easy access by signatory contractors.

Looking forward, 2012 will bring additional challenges as the collective bargaining agreement with the Carpenters’ Union expires on May 31st.  The AGC of Wisconsin, along with contractor representatives, will seek a wage package and language changes that further enhance signatory contractors’ ability to provide competitive bids.

AGC…The Contractor’s Advantage for LEGAL SERVICES: A STEP ABOVE

The AGC of Wisconsin distinguishes itself from other chapters by employing a full-time General Counsel to provide legal services to members as well as manage all aspects of labor relations. AGC of Wisconsin contractor members benefit through representation on industry-wide issues and access to the General Counsel for advice on day-to-day legal questions.

In a down economy, the construction industry predictably saw an increase in the number of legal disputes and industry partners seeking additional protections against monetary loss.

Construction contract language, for example, has evolved to provide one-sided protections in favor of the drafting party.  Furthermore, prequalification before a construction contract is offered has become the norm instead of the exception.  Both of these steps are aimed at mitigating potential losses in the event of a dispute or default.

AGC of Wisconsin members may contact the chapter for advice on how to interpret new and unknown contract language and/or prequalification requirements.  This is particularly true when members travel to other states and encounter language that may be illegal or not utilized in Wisconsin.

Situations arise every day that are rife with potential liability for AGC of Wisconsin members.  Human resources decisions, for example, are highly regulated by laws designed to encourage and facilitate claims of unequal treatment by members of your staff.  AGC of Wisconsin regularly assists members with unmeritorious claims of unequal treatment to protect your bottom line from a process often tilted in the employee’s favor.

AGC of Wisconsin members are encouraged to contact us with questions or concerns about bid awards,

construction liens, human resources issues, construction contracts, labor disputes, workers compensation and other situations where legal advice is necessary for members to achieve the best possible outcome.

AGC Government Affairs: AGC Navigates the Political Storms of 2011

2011 was one of the most active and controversial years in Wisconsin political history.  In November of 2010 Republicans replaced Democrats in the State Senate, Assembly and Governor’s office, the only state in the country where this complete power swap happened.  Using this new majority Governor Scott Walker and the GOP legislators initiated a series of major policy reforms that brewed up a firestorm!

To help address the $3.6 billion budget deficit he was facing, Governor Scott Walker unveiled a Budget Bill that cut spending and restricted most collective bargaining rights of public employees.  These changes allowed the State and local governments to ask for higher payments from public workers for their pensions and health benefits and shop around for more affordable health care insurance.

In response, labor unions and other opponents of these changes descended on the Capital for massive protests that drew national attention.  Because a quorum of at least 20 members must be present for a fiscal bill vote, Democrat Senators where able to delay a vote on the bill when they walked out of the legislative session and skipped to Illinois in protest.  However, because they still had a 19-14 majority, GOP legislators were able to pass a Budget Repair bill (Act 10) that only changed the bargaining rules and did not have specific fiscal provisions.

In an attempt to overturn these changes Democrats launched a major effort to recall 6 GOP senators.  Act 10 supporters also filed enough petitions to recall 3 senate Democrats because they left the state during the legislative session. After $44 million in campaign spending 2 GOP Senators lost, but the Republicans maintained a one vote majority of 17-16.

Not satisfied with these results, opponents of Act 10 took out recall petitions in November of 2011 against Governor Walker and 4 GOP Senators.  Those recalls have been certified and the recall elections for all of these races will occur this summer.  The recalls are going

to kick off a very expensive election year. Some think spending will reach $100 million on the recall races alone, with a full legislative and Presidential election still to come in November!

Governor Walker Releases Reforms & Results WebsiteIn an effort to show that the Act 10 changes are working, Governor Scott Walker has launched a new website at www.reforms.wi.gov.  The website includes testimonials from school officials talking about money they’ve saved.  So far local governments have saved over $73 million just through health plan savings. The website also has a running tally of tax dollars that have been saved as a result of these fiscal reforms.  As of March 13th the website lists $911,997,405 tax dollars saved.  Another new website called http://www.itsworkingwisconsin.com also highlights the fiscal success stories that resulted from the law changes.  It’s was developed by Americans For Prosperity and the MacIver Institute.

SIR Council Sporting Clays Shoot: On Friday, October 21st the SIR Council Inc. held a Sporting Clays fundraiser at the Milford Hills Hunt Club.  The event  was a big success with 51 men and 26 women participating in this fun event.  We raised nearly $3,000 for the SIR Council and $400 for the AGCWI PAC.  We are looking forward to doing the shoot again on September 21st, 2012.

2011-12 Legislative Wrap Up

Through all of this political turmoil it has been difficult to see what progress has been made on issues that directly affect AGC of Wisconsin members and the construction industry as a whole. We are happy to report that AGC of Wisconsin had an extremely successful legislative session!  Here are the major highlights:

Bills that Passed into Law:

As discussed earlier, the State Budget Bill was one of the first major pieces of legislation in the 2011-12 legislative session.  In addition to collective bargaining changes and other nitty-gritty budget and spending items, a number of policy items that affected construction were also included in the Budget:

State Budget Bill (2011 Wisconsin Act 32): Capital Budget – AGC of Wisconsin supports maintaining a steady Capital Budget that is in-line with historic spending levels.  In light of the $3.6 billion budget deficit, spending in the Capital Budget was cut down to approximately $1.1 billion, but maintained a strong commitment to continued infrastructure investment. AGC Position: Support Status: Passed in Budget Bill

Prevailing Wage - Major changes were made to Wisconsin’s PW law in the 2009-10 Budget Bill. Many of those changes were revised or repealed in this Budget Bill.  Major changes included increasing the PW thresholds, repealed monthly payroll reporting, repealed PW requirements for private projects that get over $1 million of financial assistance from a municipality and prohibiting local variations from State prevailing wage rules. (Contact AGC for more details) AGC Position: Support Status: Passed in Budget Bill

Thermal Insulator Licensing - Repeal Thermal Insulation Mechanic license. AGC Position: Support Status: Passed in Budget Bill

Local Preference Laws - Prohibit local residency requirements for workers and contractors on public jobs. AGC Position: Support Status: Passed in Budget Bill

Reverse Auctions - Prohibit the use of reverse auctions on public construction projects.  AGC Position: Support Status: Passed in Budget Bill

Stormwater Inspections - Return construction stormwater inspections to Safety and Buildings from DNR. AGC Position: Support Status: Passed in Budget Bill

Project Delivery Reform – UW System Only -Major State construction projects must be built using multiple prime bids. The Administration and UW proposed to allow alternative project delivery without waivers on certain projects. AGC Position: Support some changes Status: Passed some changes, limited to projects under $500k

2011-12 Legal Reforms

While not getting the publicity of the collective bargaining changes, the 2011-12 legislative session was also truly historic for civil justice reforms in Wisconsin. AGC of Wisconsin was an active member of the Wisconsin Civil Justice Council (WCJC) that helped pass an impressive slate of tort reform legislation this session.

Soon after being sworn into office in January 2011 Governor Scott Walker signed into law 2011 Wisconsin Act 2, landmark legal reforms that included overdue policies that have been introduced and supported by the business community for many years. The important policies passed by the Legislature, and signed into law by Gov. Walker, include the following:

Product Liability – This provision will assist small and large businesses by requiring proof of a “reasonable alternative design” in an alleged defective design of a product, moving Wisconsin away from the broad “consumer expectation” test. Wisconsin joined 46 other states by adopting this provision.

Expert Opinion (Daubert) – Wisconsin joins more than 30 other states, and the entire federal court system, by adopting the Daubert standards. This common sense provision affects both parties in a case by limiting testimony of experts and evidence to that which is based on sufficient facts or data and is the product of reliable principles and methods.

Risk Contribution – This provision overturns the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s 2005 decision, Thomas v. Mallet, where the Court adopted the deeply flawed “risk contribution” theory in cases involving lead-based paint. Wisconsin was the only state in the country to have adopted this theory. The Court’s decision led The Wall Street Journal to pen an editorial describing Wisconsin’s litigation climate as “Alabama North.”

Caps on Punitive Damages – Set a cap on punitive damages at $200,000 or two times compensatory damages, whichever is greater.

Frivolous Lawsuits – Reduce frivolous lawsuits by holding a party liable for costs and fees for bringing a lawsuit or claim that is done solely for the purpose of harassing or maliciously injuring another party.

In addition to the changes made in Act 2, the legislature and Governor Walker passed a number of other significant tort reform measures:

Trespasser Liability Act (SB 22):  Prevents courts from adopting the new Restatement Third of Torts which expands liability for injuries to trespassers. The legislation simply codifies Wisconsin’s existing law, which adequately protects landowners and renters from unwanted trespassers.

Reasonable Attorney Fees (SB 12): Codifies 14 criteria which courts must consider when awarding attorney fees for the plaintiff. Also includes a rebuttable presumption that reasonable attorney fees are three times compensatory damages.

Repeal Compensatory and Punitive Damages for WFEA Violations (SB 202)

Repeals 2009 Wisconsin Act 20, which for the first time imposed punitive and compensatory damages in lawsuits filed under the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act (WFEA).  Women will still be entitled to file a claim under the WFEA where they can seek reinstatement, back pay up to two years, and be awarded considerable attorney fees and court costs.

Other Issues that Passed in 2011-12:

Apprenticeship Requirements on State Projects (EO 108) – Repealed an old Executive Order requiring that all contractors must use Apprentices on State construction projects. AGC Position: Support  Status: EO 108 suspended on March 9, 2011

Repeal Outdated DNR Air Permit Requirements (NR 411/SB 111) - Repealed NR 411 which required the DNR to issue air permits that were designed to reduce off-road vehicle emissions of CO2.  Advancements in engine emission technology made this rule obsolete.  AGC Position: Support Status: Passed and signed into law

Milwaukee Sick Leave Ordinance Overturned (SB 23) - Prohibits municipalities from mandating local paid time off requirements such as the Milwaukee ordinance that would have required employers to provide an average of nine days of sick leave a year for workers who perform work in the city. This ordinance would have been particularly difficult for contractors whose employees only work temporarily in the city.  AGC Position: Support Status: Passed and signed into law

Issues that Did NOT Pass in 2011-12:

Prohibit Hold Harmless Clauses - A proposal to prohibit “hold harmless” provisions was added to the Workers Compensation Advisory Council (WCAC) Agenda for possible inclusion in the WCAC’s recommendations for workers compensation law reform. AGC Position: Oppose Status: Failed to Pass

Prevailing Wage on Gift Projects (AB 233) – This proposal would exempt from prevailing wage public construction projects that have at least 85% private funding. While supportive of the concept, AGC was opposed to the bill because it had no limit on size. AGC Position: Significant Concerns Status: Failed to Pass

Prevailing Wage Reform (AB 183) - Makes additional changes to the prevailing wage law over and above those made in the 2011 Budget Bill.  AGC Position: Significant Concerns Status: Failed to Pass

Uniform Commercial Code (SB 32) - Make Wisconsin’s Commercial Building Code uniform, just as the residential and multifamily building codes are. AGC Position: Support Status: Failed to Pass

Prohibit Contractors from Making Political Contributions (AB676) - Prohibits anyone who has 15% or more equity in a company that that bids on or gets a contract with any state agency from making a political contribution to a candidate for state office from the time of the bid until the project is completed. AGC Position: Oppose Status: Failed to Pass

Page 65: 2012 AGC of WI's Construction Resource Guide

AGC of Wisconsin Construction RESOURCE GUIDE • 2012     65

Project Delivery Reform (SB 366) - Major State construction projects must currently be built using multiple prime bids unless the project gets a waiver from the State Building Commission. This bill would have allowed single prime and Construction Manager at Risk on all State projects without Building Commission waivers. Bill includes some bidding protections for major MEPS contractors. AGC Position: Significant concerns with this  draft, support some changes Status: Failed to Pass

Reform Sales Tax on Construction Material Laws - AB 380 allows contractors to purchase construction materials on behalf of tax-exempt entities without paying sales tax.  AB 381 clarifies sales tax rules for personal property in lump sum contracts. AGC Position: Support Status: Failed to Pass

Improving Communication with Members and Industry PartnersThe AGC of Wisconsin utilizes a number of tools to improve the communication with members and non-members. In 2011, we continued to focus communication efforts on “reaching deeper” into our member firms in order to involve employees at all levels of the organization and encouraging members to customize the information they receive from AGC.

Wisconsin Constructor Magazine Despite economic tight holds that limited advertising dollars in 2011, the quarterly Wisconsin Construction magazine circulated to 1500 industry professionals and was available electronically at www.agcwi.org for thousands of viewers. Targeted at purchasers of construction services and public officials, the magazine showcases members of our chapter and relevant topics of interest to the construction industry.

E-Newsletters E-newsletters are sent weekly to all individuals in our member firms that have registered their e-mail address. Action News, Education & Development Source, Legislative Update, Legal Update and Safety & Environmental Update gives a brief report on a number of industry-specific issues and prompts the reader to click on a link for more information.

Construction Resource Guide The annual Construction Resource Guide promotes the members of the association as it is distributed to over 2000 industry professionals including purchasers of construction services and public officials. Providing a summary of services available to AGC of Wisconsin members, this is a valuable tool to share with your staff.

Build Wisconsin Awards Over 300 AGC members, architects, engineers and building owners attended the 2011 Build Wisconsin Awards at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery in Madison for the ninth year of this well attended award program.

The 75+ entries were judged by a panel of judges comprised of an architect, engineer, city planner, facility manager and university professor. The winning projects and their project teams gathered for an evening celebrating Wisconsin’s construction industry and their great work.
