Entering her fifth season at the helm of the Robert Morris field hockey program in 2011 is Olivia Netzler. Netzler is the second head coach of the Colonial field hockey team, which started its program in 2004. A native of Sydney, Australia, Netzler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sport administration from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky., in 2004. She was a three-year letterwinner at forward for the Cardinals as well as a two-time regional All-American (2001, 2003) according to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). In her time as head coach, Netzler has led the Colonials to success on the first and in the class room. In each of the past two seasons Robert Morris has ranked in the Top Five nationally in team grade-point average among schools that sponsor field hockey. In 2010 the Colonials ranked fourth nationally in grade point average while placing student-athletes on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association academic distinction list, second most among Northeast Conference. In the spring of 2011, Netzler also placed her first player on the USA women’s field hockey Midwest junior high performance squad. “I’m excited to be the head coach of the

field hockey program at a University that is expanding and growing,” Netzler said. “I look forward to the future of the program in helping it continue to grow and become competitive in the Northeast Conference.” In the Louisville career records, Netzler ranks third in points for the Cardinals with 80 as well as fourth in goals (32) and tied for seventh in assists (16). In the single-season records, Netzler’s 39 points in 2001 ranks sixth all-time. Between 2001

and 2003 with Netzler as a member of the squad Louisville posted an overall record of 42-23, including a record of 20-10 in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The 2001 squad finished with an overall record of 16-5, establishing a school record for victories while earning its first national ranking in school history, climbing as high as No. 6 in the country. “We’re thrilled to have someone of Olivia’s caliber as the head field hockey coach at Robert Morris,” Coleman said. “As a player she helped build Louisville’s program to one that was consistently in the national rankings, and she knows what its like to build a program. I look forward to seeing her continue to move the program in a positive direction with the foundation that has been established.” Prior to her appointment at RMU, Netzler served as the associate director of the Field Hockey Club of Kentucky in Louisville, Ky., from 2001 to 2006. During the 2005-06 school year, Netzler was the assistant athletic director at St. Francis High School, also in Louisville. As assistant athletic director she served as the head field hockey and track and field coach while assisting the athletic department in general operations.
