We do have 13 lettermen, with four starters

back on either side of the ball. The line is aconcern coming into the season, with our

emphasis on running the football out of our

multiple-I. The kids we have there have made

great strides, not only during preseason but in our

off-season workouts. We made great strides in the

weight room overall; we are definitely much

stronger and bigger physically and have

improved our speed overall. We had great

attendance the whole time and the kids

really worked hard to get to this point.

DELPHOS With a rebuilt offen-sive line headinginto 2011, third-year Jefferson headfootball coach BubLindeman will lookto his defense astrong suit for thelast several seasonsthat gave up 25.4points and 263.6

yards per game lastfall to hold theline until that unit can make the adjust-ment to the speed ofthe varsity game.

As well, he mustreplace 16 seniorsoff last falls 5-5campaign (5-3in the NorthwestConference) that

used up their eligi-bility last fall butmust do so with aroster of 10 seniorsand 32 total players from sophomorethrough senior.

Trenton Gossman (8 pancakeblocks), Zac Lumpkins (4), AJ Cross(2), Gabe Gehr (2) all of whomearned at least two varsity letters started up front a year ago and gradu-

ated, with right guard-turned-centerJustin Rode (5-10, 210, senior; 5 pan-cakes) the only full-time starting vet-

eran back in that group as the center. Also back on that side which put

up averages of 20.2 points and 253.4

    yards per are tailback Curtis Miller(6-2, 230, senior;153 rushes, 635yards, 11 scores),fullback QuintenWessell (5-11, 230,

junior) and part-time starter DarrenEdinger (5-9, 170,senior) at rightguard.

We do have 13lettermen, with fourstarters back on either side of the ball. The line is a con-cern coming intothe season, withour emphasis onrunning the foot-ball out of our mul-tiple-I, Lindeman(11-9) began. The

kids we have therehave made greatstrides, not onlyduring preseasonbut in our off-season workouts. Wemade great strides in the weight roomoverall; we are definitely much stron-ger and bigger physically and haveimproved our speed overall. We hadgreat attendance the whole time andthe kids really worked hard to get to

this point.Lindeman has to find replacements

for skill players like third-year guys

Logan Bonifas (25 catches, 262 yards,4 TDs), Ryan Ebbeskotte (13 grabs,

276 yards, 2), Nick Cook (7 grabs,130 yards, 1), Jacob Leach (64 carries,271 yards) and Mitchell Antalis (71totes, 323 yards, 4), as well as second-year guy tight end Kody Richardson(12 grabs, 191 yards, 3; Urbana), plusquarterback Jesse Cano (77-of-152passing, 11 scores, 10 picks).

Projected new starters on theoffense include rotating wide receiv-ers Shayn Klinger (5-10, 175, senior),

Tony George (6-1, 170, senior) andEvan Neubert (5-8, 150, senior); tightend Ross Thompson (6-1, 190, sopho-

more), left guard Evan Stant (5-10,210, junior), left tackle Geoff Ketcham

(6-3, 275, junior), right tackle ZachKimmett (6-2, 220, junior) and either

junior Drew Kortokrax (5-10, 170) orsophomore Austin Jettinghoff (5-11,175) under center.

Defensively, we are remaining inthe 4-3 but instead of being a read-and-react scheme, we are going to bemuch more aggressive. We want todictate to the offense, Lindeman con-tinued. Where we will struggle is lack

of experience and physical maturitywith only 10 seniors. Our offensive

Defense likely to carry the load for Jefferson gridders

DELPHOS In 2010, April Merschmantook over the Jefferson volleyball reins forlong-time coach Diane Wilson.

This fall brings another change in theleadership of the Lady Wildcats with4-year junior high coachJoy Early taking over.

She wont be theonly new face in thevarsity program asseven seniors graduatedin the spring, includingtwo fourth-year varsityplayers in 4-year starterKristin Klausing and3-year starting jumping

jack Bridget Culp.As well, four 2-year

letterwinners departed with their diplomas:Morgan Fischbach, Melissa Shobe, ShelbiBrown and AmandaHamilton, along withletterwinner LaurenClaypool.

With only two expe-rienced volleyballersback from 2010: juniorFallon Van Dyke oneof the setters in Earlysplanned 6-2 offensiveset and sophomoreKatie Goergens; Earlywill need some time to find a cohesivestarting six and capable backups.

Two of those she expects to step into theholes in the lineup are sophomore RileighStockwell and sophomore Kamie Pulford, the other setter in the 6-2.

We have several underclassmen thatare showing great promise, Early noted.Still, we have very little experience. Sincewe lost those seven seniors last year, manyof our upperclassmen lack playing time at

the varsity level. At this point, our main goal throughout

the season is steady improvement. This years crew will only have two

seniors in comparison to 2010s seven:

Nadine Clarkson and Kelsey Goodwin.Three juniors will also fight for playingtime: Kayla Kill, Caitlin Landwehr andAlyssa Miller, while sophomores Gabrielle

Pimpas and Lindsay Deuel and freshmenBrooke Culp and Heather Pohlman arealso in the mix.

The junior varsity team has, in addi-tion to Kill, Pimpas, Deuel, Culp and

Pohlman, has junior Libbi Brown; sopho-mores Kimber Kill, Brooke Teman andKenidi Ulm; and frosh Shannon Coil,Jenna Gilden, Bethany Kaverman and

Desteni Lear.Im looking forward to a great first

year of coaching. We have a greatgroup of girls who work hard and aredetermined to compete at their best, Early

added. Her first season will start on Tuesday,Aug. 29, at home versus Waynesfield-Goshen.

DELPHOS Chad Brinkman didnthave a lot of experience back when hehelmed the Jefferson boys golf unit in2010, his first season taking over forChad Jostpille.

That crew finished 7-11 in dual meetsand ended up seventh in the NorthwestConference regular season (8th in theNWC tournament).

He hopes that with the loss of only one senior 3-year varsity letterman Matt Waldick from that edi-tion of Wildcats, 2011 promises bigger and better thingsfor his Division III program.

We have to improve our coursemanagement, consistency and confi-dence; if we do that, we have four play-ers capable of scoring in the 40s on aregular basis, Brinkman noted. Theplayers get along so well and are verycoachable. They are eager to improveand have the tools to be successful.

Six players gained a ton of varsityexperience from last fall and four ofthem are seniors: Alex Garza (No. 3

    man at 51.2 strokes per-nine average),Tyler Miller (No. 4, 52.1), AJ Teman (No. 6, 55.2) andJacob Violet (No. 6, 52.4).

The other two are juniors in their second seasons ofplaying the sport: Nick Gallmeier, the top golfer in aver-age back at 47.4 strokes per-9 holes, and Tyler Wrasman(No. 5 at 49.6).

Added to the roster for 2011 are sophomore AlexKetchamm, sophomore Kyle Berelsman and classmateJacob Hamilton; and freshmen Ryan Bullinger, CarterMox and Zach Wannamacher.

Our freshmen as a group, and particularly Carter, have the potential to fight for varsity spots, Brinkmanadded. We just need to be more consistent scorers, especially those that have experience from last fall, to bemore confident in our swings for specific shots and be

more mindful of course management. That is our goal and our key to successthis fall.

Nick was a pleasant surprise lastfall; it was his first in organized golfand he has a natural swing. He workedhard in the summer and last yearsexperience should help him a greatdeal. I look for him to be even moreof a surprise and to be our workhorseand medalist in most matches. Samething with Tyler Wrasman; he has the

tools to be a low scorer and really solidify his game. Iexpect Alex and Tyler Miller to be our leaders, Jacob tosolidify his game and either AJ or Carter to be that sixth

man for us.The NWC will be competitive

    throughout, with Lima Central Catholic

being the team to catch. I am excited tosee each of our players improve, under-stand the game a little more each timeout, compete and have fun.

The Wildcats already have twomatches under their belts for 2011.

Brinkman has experience in Wildcat golfers

We have to improveour course management,

    consistency and confi-

dence; if we do that, we

    have four players capable

of scoring in the 40s on

    a regular basis. The

    players get along so well

Our most important goal ofthe season is to bring home as many wins as pos-sible, which I feel is very possible. Another goalof ours is to keep taking progressive steps for-ward toward improving, Coach Drerup noted.Too many times last season, we took one stepforward and two steps back. As far as strengths

go, having a majority of our team being return-ing starters is a plus as they know the lay of theland; however, our incoming newcomers doexpress a lot of potential, so I look for them toreally step up this season as well.

Our weaknesses again come from the mid-field; we aim to work on gaining control ofthe midfield to ease our offense-to-defense

transitions. This season, weare expecting to utilize differ-ent formations and defensivemindsets.

    Drerup, who struggled

with injuries that depleteda less-than-deep roster tobegin with, is looking forthose newcomers in juniorMadison Flack, freshman for-ward Kylee Haehn, freshmanBailey Miller, freshman Elisabeth Miller andclassmate Jordyn Radler to give the starters abreak and provide more punch and versatilityto the roster.

She is also excited about the NorthwestConference crowning a girls soccer champion

for the first time.We are very excited about having an

NWC title up for grabs in girls varsity soc-cer. I feel the toughest competitors for the titleare going to be Bluffton, Lima Central Catholicand Crestview, she added.

DELPHOS Todd Schulte won St.Johns sixth state foot-ball title last December his fourth in 12 years with a senior-laden,experienced team.

He lost 21 seniors most of whom wonat least two varsity let-ters and several threeand four from a 15-0team (8-0 in the MidwestAthletic Conference.

To keep up the good work in 2011,Schulte (127-32) will have to do the samewith a much less experienced, much moreunderclassmen-oriented team.

That was last years team; this is thisyears. We enjoyed the state title from lastyear but these kids know that they cantrest on their laurels; no one is going togive them anything, Schulte noted. Last

year is over; its time to move on.We lost a lot of experienced players, a

lot of size, speed and athleticism and they

wont be easy to replace.Among the majorlosses from the offenseof a year ago were basi-cally the entire line:fourth-year left tackleAustin Vogt (25 pan-cake blocks; Univ. OfIndianapolis) and rightguard Derek Klaus (15)and quarterback JordanLeininger (162 rushes,1,234 yards, 12 scores;83-of-158 passing, 1,398 yards, 19 TDs,3 picks; preferred walk-on at BGSU ondefense), third-season linemen left guardJoey Grubenhoff (16 pancakes; missedfour games due to injury) and center AlexRecker (16 pancakes) and first-year righttackle Seth Knebel.

Also gone are wideout Tyler Bergfeld(28 catches, 541 yards, 10 TDs), tailback

    Evan Burgei (218 rushes, 1,673 yards, 27scores; 10 grabs, 119 yards, 2 TDs), wide-out AJ Klausing (7 catches, 192 yards, 2

    tallies), tight end/fullback Chris Pohlman(prefered walk-on atBGSU), wide receiverJoe Haggard (5 grabs,68 yards, 2 tallies)and tight end JustinGrothouse (9 catches,145 yards, 1).

The defense willbe without the 2-timedefending Division VIDefensive Player of theYear in Mike lineback-er Pohlman (77 solos, 54 assists), outsidelinebacker Dylan Dancer (55 solos, 48assists, 5 fumble recoveries), fourth-yearstarting free safety Bergfeld (23 tackles,4 picks; 18 picks for his career), Klausingat strong safety (36 solos, 15 assists),Recker (28 solos, 23 assists, 2 sacks, 16QB harassments) and Klaus (45 solos, 21assists, 10 sacks, 33 quarterback harass-

ments) at end, 2-year starters noseguardCody Brinkman (48 solos, 43 assists, 7sacks, 9 QB harassments) and defensive

    tackle Kasey Bonifas (13 total tackles;injured late in the sea-son), safety Tyler Ditto(43 and 19, 4 picks),tackle Vogt (13 stops)and end Vinny Wiley(13 solos, 8 assists).

The final seniorswere WR BradGerberick, defensivetackle Jacob Rode, defensive end ReedHesseling (18 tackles)and center Nate Hoffman.

Recker also handled the punting chores(38 punts, 36.4-yardaverage).

Senior veteransleading the Blue andGold multiple-I forma-tion offense this fall arefourth-year senior kick-er Josh Rode (6-0, 175;70-of-73 extra points,3-of-4 field goals, 79

    points, fullback JordanBergfeld (95 rushes, 733 yards, 13 scores;10 receptions, 128 yards, 1 tally), wide-out Tanner Calvelage(7 catches, 150 yards,1) and guard/turned/left tackle Alex Wehri(5-10, 220; 6 pancakesreplacing Grubenhoff).

the right combination. We have seen steadyimprovement so far andwell have to continueto see that through-out the year, Schulteadded. Its going to bea matter of them gettingcomfortable with our game plan, espe-cially running the football. We want tobe good at a couple of things early andhope we get better at more as we go. Wehave enough competition and depth thatmay be that who we start at the beginningwont be by the end. We want that kindof competitiveness.

We have a lot of unanswered questionsnow; our goal is to get them answered assoon as we can.

DELPHOS The St. Johns cross country teams havebeen fighting the numbers game for years.

That will be no different this fall as only five total runnersare out for 2011 for second-year head coach Steve Hellman.

However, one of the girls is sophomore standout MeganJoseph, a regional qualifier as a freshman last fall.

She was my only high school girl last year. She set herpersonal record of 20:00 the fourth fastest in school his-tory at the Midwest Athletic Conference meet last yearwhere she earned honorable-mention all-league, Hellmannoted. She missed qualifying for state by less than 30 sec-

onds. Our goal for her this year is to qualify for state and beall-league at the MAC meet. I look for her to be in the top 10at each meet this year.

Jay harriers still struggling with numbers

The other veterans are all on the boys side:junior Todd Rode (third year on varsity) and

sophomore Aaron Hellman.Todd had a PR of 22:32 last year. He hasshown lots of improvement this summer over

last year and I expect him to take his PR evenlower this year, Coach Hellman continued.

Aaron was our No. 2 runner last year andwas the first freshman to go under 20:00 in

The 2011 St. Johns cross country team has, left to right, junior Todd Rode, junior Teresa Pohlman, sophomore Megan Joseph, coach Steve Hellman, freshman Anthony Hale and sophomore AaronHellman.

With only three boys and two girls

running this year, we will not be able tocompete as a team, so we will be look-

ing at improving individually this year

with the hope of getting some individual

awards at the meets. We have a very chal-

lenging schedule this year with the meets

having between 100 and 250 runners in

each race. We open our season at homewith 15 other schools coming to Stadium

Park for the Blue Jay Invitational.

With third-yearsenior starter ShelbyReindel (5-11 middlehitter) leading theBlue and Gold into2011, Sterling expects to add a fewmore victories to her19-29 2-year mark asthe head coach.

Reindel leading the St. Johns volleyballers

on paper, having bothof my middle hitters, two of my defensivespecialists and an out-side hitter returningwill bring the experi-ence that is needed. Inaddition to this, oneof our major strengthsthis year is that I havea handful of girls that

can be placed in anyposition and do well atit, Sterling explained. This year, weneed to focus more on keeping the ballin play and minimizing our errors. Everypoint is critical in rally-scoring and thisis where we can improve on from lastyear. We will need to concentrate onconsistency and defense.

With the graduation of four girls who

lettered last fall: Katie Wallenhorst,Tiffany Geise, Melanie Mansfield andGabrielle Metzner; Sterling will turn toa crop of promising newcomers: NicoleWinhover (5-6 senior defensive special-ist), Maggie Wehri (5-7 senior right-sidehitter), Christie Carder (5-5 junior set-ter), Lauren Utrup (5-6 junior right-sidehitter), Madison Zuber (5-7 junior defen-sive specialist/outside hitter) and LindseyWannemacher (5-2 junior setter).

FORT JENNINGS Rodney Wagner beginshis 10th season at the helm of the Fort Jennings

girls soccer program with a 104-58-17 mark at theschool.

With a brand-new soccer field to inauguratethis fall, that will be one of the few brand-newparts of his team as he will have seven returningstarters and seven other letterwinners from that11-6-3 team (2-1-1 in the Putnam County League)in 2010.

This will also be the season when girls soc-cer goes to three divisions, with the LadyMusketeers falling into the Division III ranks.

Returning to man starting spots in the front lineare the likes of senior fourth-year varsity playerMorgan Schroeder (midfielder), senior Kelsey VonLehmden (third year; goalkeeper) and classmates

Andrea Heitmeyer (fullback), Cassie Kaverman(midfielder) and Gina Clay (midfielder); and third-year juniors Macy Schroeder (forward) and LoriBruskotter (fullback).

Other veterans are juniors Kristen Maag (mid-fielder), Katlin Stechschulte (midfielder), ElainaMaag (midfielder), Marissa Mesker (forward) andJenna Von Sossan (midfielder); and 10th-gradersCassie Horstman (fullback) and Ashley Gable(forward).

We return those starters and the other girls thatplayed last season; they have a good understandingof the game. We have girls that can score wescored 50 goals last season in 19 games and yetwe are a strong defensive-minded team; we onlygave up one goal a game last season, Wagnernoted. We try to be a good ball-control team; welike the possession game because of you can con-trol the ball, its hard for the opponent to score.

Despite those positives, Wagner has concerns. As with any team, the health during the sea-

son is our main concern. We had a few injuriesthis summer but hope to have everyone back bythe start of the season, Wagner continued. Anyarea to address is how we start the season; we arealways slow-starting but changes in the start of theyear from last season may help with that.

Team chemistry is another area we focus on;a good team plays together and doesnt care about

anything but the team.He will have to find replacements for fiveplayers that took 17 varsity letters with themupon graduation: 4-year players Alyssa Piasecki(fullback), Lauren Verhoff (forward) and Taylor

Wagners Lady Musketeers loaded for 2011

Wallenhorst (midfield), 3-year player MindyMerricle (fullback) and 2-year player MelissaKrietemeyer (fullback).

With a boatload of players who got seri-ous playing time on last falls junior varsitysquad: second-year letterwinners in juniors GinaStechschulte (fullback), Martina Weems (forward/midfielder) and Mara Brown (midfielder/fullback);along with junior Brittany Inkrott (forward/mid-fielder) and sophomores Emily Grone (goalkeeper/forward), Jamie Saum (fullback), Marissa Good(forward) and Nicole Ricker (fullback/forward);Wagner and his coaching staff dont have to startfrom scratch in plugging those girls into any open-ings or providing even more depth.

We have good speed overall and girls that arenot afraid to play the ball while it is in the air. Withour speed, we are looking to attack and score butstill be a strong defensive unit, he said.

Eight freshmen are coming into the highschool program, keeping the tradition going forthe Lady Musketeers to have plenty of numbers:Erin Osting (goalkeeper), Hannah Clay (midfield-er), Alyssa Louth (midfielder), Alyssa Wiedeman(fullback), Jenna Calvelage (forward/midfielder),Keri Eickholt (forward/midfielder), Lindsey Korte(goalkeeper/fullback) and Sarah Chandler (mid-fielder/forward).

The PCL race shapes up early for theMusketeers.

Its always tough for us because we play threeof our four league games the second and thirdweeks of the season. Filling the gaps from lastseason and good team chemistry should give us

a chance at a PCL title this year, Wagner added.Continental was a little down last year but theyare always tough; they look to be a lot stronger thistime and Coach (Toby) Bidlack always has a way

of getting his team prepared for the season. Kalidahas a very good program under Coach (Dave)Kehres; they return a lot of starters and won theleague last fall.

Miller City has a bunch of girls that playphysical and never quit; they are well-coachedand do a lot of the basics well. Ottoville has a newcoach and probably a different style this season, which makes it hard to call, but I know the coachesand I think they will give every team a run for itsmoney.

Kalida, as defending champions, has to beconsidered the favorites but when PCL teams gettogether, its hard to tell who is coming out on topthat day.

Jim Buettner and Jason Wagner are the assis-tant coaches.

FORT JENNINGS Fort Jenningsboys golf coach Todd Hoehn has a lotof leeway with his numbers for the 2011links campaign.

After all, the 13th-year mentor hasnine individuals to make up a team.

However, four of them are experi-enced from last years crew, includingnumber 1 golfer Cody Warnecke (fourthyear) and third man Zach Schuerman(fourth year), both seniors; as well assecond golfer Kurt Warnecke (thirdyear), a junior; and second-year sopho-more Nate German (No. 5).

Hoehn only lost Tyler Dray to gradu-ation from a year ago.

Hopefully, our experience willallow us to compete with opponentsand understand how the season works. We still need to find consistency in ourfourth and fifth players, Hoehn said. Were looking for our experiencedupperclassmen to be consistent and con-fident leaders for the younger players asthe season develops. Im looking for-ward to getting into competition to seewhere we stack up.

Newcomrs to the unit some whocame out late include Josh Wittler(sophomore), Bret Clay, LucasLuebrecht, Collin Wieging, NolanNeidert and the only girl playing, TonyaKorte.

SPENCERVILLE The Spencervillevarsity football program has endured back-to-back 0-10 campaigns.

Third-year coach John Zerbe hopes thatthe losing streak will end quickly in 2011with 16 returning starters back from lastyears edition.

Whereas in 2010, the team lacked seniorsand overall experience, this years crew hasexperience and more than a few seniors.

Seniors returning for their third seasonsof varsity including Jared Rex (WR/DB),Daniel Binkley (RB/DB), Austin Lotz (RB/LB), Tyler Shumate (OL/LB) and Brandon

Ball (WR/DB), as well as second-yearseniors Calvin Grigsby (WR/DB), AustinSchleeter (TE/LB) and Josh Decker (OL/DL).

Juniors back for their third campaignsinclude Derek Goecke (QB/DB) and LucasKrouskop (OL/DL).

Juniors returning for their second yearsof varsity time are Cole Roberts (RB/DB),Dominick Corso (TE/DL), Devon Cook(WR/DB), John Smith (RB/DB), ColemanMcCormick (OL/DL) and Lucas Shumate(OL/DL).

As well, senior Nate Stidham (OL/DL)and junior Hunter Patton (QB/DB) return aslettermen.

We lost two starters on offense and two

on defense. With all the experience back, that will be a strength, as will simple physi-cal maturity, Zerbe noted. Our strength isimproved and so is our speed.

However, depth is always an issue at asmall school such as ours. We have to stayhealthy.

Among those looking to step in fordeparted seniors Levi Krouskop (TE/LB), Keaton Vandemark (OL/LB), AaronPatterson (OL/DL), Trevor Hardeman (WR/DB) and Devlin Hinojosa (OL/DL) arepromising newcomers Niko Molina andsophomores Anthony Schuh (RB/LB) andBen Bowers (RB/DB).

The Bearcats are also switching offensivephilosophies, going from the spread attack

to a Wing-T.We want to play physical, hard-nosed

football in changing our offense to the Wing-T.Adding former Jefferson Head Coach JimMorris as offensive coordinator has been ahuge asset to coaching staff and players,Zerbe added. Defensive Coordinator RickOrr has simplified an aggressive defensivescheme. Todd Merriman and Darren Sharphave done a phenomenal job coaching thedefensive line and secondary. We understandno one will give us credit until we start win-ning games. We want our play on the field todo the talking.

Our goal this year is one thing win.Spencerville begins the 2011 campaign

    SPENCERVILLE Spencerville

cross country coach Brian McMichaelis beginning his 40th season at theboys helm and the 31st for the LadyBearcats.

He has amassed a 2,472-1,683 markfor the boys and 1,194-516 for thegirls.

While last years boys team thatfinished 102-52 overall, third placein the Northwest Conference, fourthin Districts and 13th at Regionals didnt have a lot of experienced harriersreturning from the previous campaign, this years crop has five back.

However, one that wont be is thegraduated Kevin Lenhart (#1 runner in2010, NWC Champ, District Champ,5th at Reg, 29th at State).

As well, Josh Solomon completedhis eligibility in 2010.

He will only have one senior on thisyears roster, third-year varsity veteranNick Davisson (#3 runner in 2010),

while two juniors are back for theirsecond seasons: Keith Lenhart (#2 run-ner in 2010) and Joe Wisher (#4 runnerin 2010).

As well, two sophomores garneredletters last fall: Caleb Vogt (#6 runnerin 2010) and Matthew Hurles (#7 run-ner).

A pair of newcoming juniors arepart of the 2011 edition as well: AaronHefner and Kyle Sawmiller.

We have good team leaders and we

work hard in practice. What we needto get done is mold the runners into acompetitive pack, McMichael noted. The teams success will depend onhow fast the runners develop.

Our team goal is to finish in the tophalf of the teams in each meet, con-tend for the NWC title and advance toRegional. In the league, I would placeus behind Columbus Grove, Crestviewand Lima Central Catholic.

The Lady Bearcats also have five

letterwinners back from a 112-19 end-ing, grabbing the NWC championshipfor the fourth season in a row, plac-ing second in Districts and sixth atRegionals.

The biggest loss via graduation is No.3 runner from 2010, Claire McConnell,a 4-year varsity letterwinners. Also

He will also have solid depth with six promising new-comers: senior Mackenzie Miller, sophomores KarriPurdy, Caitlin Wurst and Jenna Kahle; and freshmen KacieMulholland and Schylar Miller.

The team has upperclass leadership, meet experienceand works hard in practice. What we have to improve uponis developing team front-runners and running in a pack,he added. The team has good experience and leadershipreturning from the 2010 team that won the NWC title and

was 6th in the Regional. With hard work, they should beamong the favorites to win the NWC title and to advance inthe tournament at the end of the season..

Our goals are to finish in the top three teams in eachmeet, defend the NWC title and advance to the regional meetand on to state. I put us atop the NWC, followed by Bluffton,LCC and Crestview.

The junior high girls has two runners: eighth-grader

Kennedy Sharp and seventh-grader Lexi Gilroy. On the boys side in junior high are eighth-graders JacobCook and David Wisher and seventh-graders Bailey Croft,Chandler Kahle, Dominic Brown, Thad Ringwald and KeithNielsen.
